The 7:39
The television side of the site has been a bit shallow recently, with TV slowly starting to get going again in Australia (Sunday night is a bonanza it seems), I should be starting to fill up the TV side more regularly. In the meantime, I have a few British shows that have been piling up and I've finally got around to watching and capping, so here goes.
The 7:39 is a mini-series about a couple of people who take the same train each morning who after a rocky start, begin an affair that invigorates their lives until all the usual complications happen. Not a bad little show that relies on it's leads (David Morrissey and Sheridan Smith) to do all the heavy lifting and they are pretty good. But, The 7:39 feels more like filler than something substantial.
One thing I do love is this trend towards British TV being made in the 2:35 aspect ratio. Sure, none of the major shows, but a number of one-off TV drama has been filmed at that aspect ratio. I'd love to see the 'blockbuster' TV shows shot in that ratio. They want to be cinematic TV, why not shoot in it. Game of Thrones is the perfect fit for that aspect ratio.
I s'pose we'd then get a million complaints from people thinking they're missing something... which they're not.
