Always Greener
Well, it's taken 4 years to finally release this update. That is when I watched this series on DVD and put some caps together to make collages. Three years ago, I made most of the collage rows, save for a few and then nothing since because I couldn't be stuffed making the videos from 22 episodes. A few weeks back I was going through my hard drives for stuff to do and found the 6 discs ripped and ready to make videos from which one Sunday, I sat down and over 8-10 hours, I finally completed. I then just had to put together the collages, which are in a format I no longer use (ha!) and now I've finally finished and released this series. Finally...
Series 1 of Always Greener is actually pretty darn good. While it does play very light at times, when the hard stuff comes up, and surprisingly it is more often than expected, it handles it quite well. There is some similarities to early Packed To The Rafters, not the uninteresting, off the rails, rats leaving the sinking ship of the current Packed To The Rafters. I would've thought that there would be more break out stars from a show that was actually quite popular back in the day, but Michala Banas is the only girl to have kicked on in any way (you'll see more tomorrow). It also seems that the series was unceremoniously dumped during series 2 (which isn't available on DVD and probably never will be). I'll have to keep an eye out for a replay, Channel 7 don't mind replaying their programs.
One thing that is instantly noticeable in both the collages and videos in that the picture quality isn't the greatest as it was filmed on those early digital video cameras that only existed in the early 2000s (series 1 of Always Greener was made in 2001) and were a long way from what we have now. But, it is still perfectly fine and still way better than VHS.
I was just checking my update from series 1 of Always Greener and it says it took 4 years to make. Well, it's taken about the same to finally get around to capping series 2 of the show. I found that during a small period of time, 7Plus put a bunch of their shows up in HD and I was able to download them. Which worked out great for me as I've never been able to cap series 2 of Always Greener. The first series got a belated DVD release but series 2 didn't so it wasn't until it appeared on 7Plus that I was able to finally get around to capping it.
More of the same from series 2, a bit of social issues mixed with a lot of wackiness and with two characters getting pregnant, it becomes more wacky. Also should mention that the quality isn't great as the show was shot in early 2000s digital, so it's all smudged pastels mixed with that patented Channel 7 look.
Thankfully the show was unceremoniously dumped after two series otherwise it's would've been a long time before any further series. Ah well, it's done now, finally...
