Fugitiva

Spanish Netflix thriller series which starts with a promising idea of a family of a 'businessman' being kidnapped but actually it's a phony kidnapping planned by the matriarch (Paz Vega) to escape her abusive husband. Then it has 9 more episodes to fill so every ludicrous idea is just thrown out there hoping something will work and sadly little does. Some favourites: The patriarch having 3 heart attacks at the news and then just walking out of bed as if he just slept it off. A sadistic fixer who fucks a bloke in a plane toilet, attempts a rather ambitious plan to forcibly settle down with the family. The patriarch who just had 3 heart attacks, continues fucking other women, one of which accidentally impales herself and another who he choke fucks (without telling her he's doing this) and then pays off her pimp to let her get out of the prostitution racket (such a nice bloke). Then there's a number of other plots I just tuned out of because they were of little interest. Definitely a series that could've used with a big trim down to maybe five or six episodes as some plot lines seem to go forever, a problem that is all too frequent with Netflix series. Not an unwatchable series but one that definitely needed to be tighter and more focused than it is.
