Hex
2004-2005 British girlie supernatural series similar to Charmed, but even sillier, if that's possible. Barely lasting 18 episodes (5 episodes series 1, 13 episodes series 2) and a few of the cast not even lasting that long, Hex is about Cassie (Christina Cole) and her out and proud lesbian best friend Thelma (Jemima Rooper) at some liberal arts type college and it turns out Cassie has secret powers she's only just discovering. Down the way is a church that is some sort of mystical place that is overseen by the immortal Azazeal (a pre-fame, ultra-brooding Michael Fassbender), who spies Cassie and wants her to be his eternal bride (who wouldn't?), which she resists at first because he kills Thelma, but she comes back as a ghost, so that's sort of OK and eventually she falls for Azazeal but just as she is about to become his eternal bride, she is killed. Meanwhile, a dark avenger Ella (Laura Pyper) comes to the college and attempts to fight off its dark forces, which seem to be many and mostly unrelated to Azazeal, who's long gone.
Hex is a baffling series that seems to have been majorly affected by its lead actress Christina Cole leaving 8 episodes in because everything after that is bonkers and no offense to Laura Pyper, but her character is a complete buzzkill, which goes great with bonkers. Fassbender's gone not long later, but with Cole gone, he's absolutely not needed but stays around anyway. Characters seem to come and go, Amber Sainsbury's bitchy mean girl Roxanne bafflingly gets a major storyline in the transition episodes after being a pretty minimal character before that, then once that storyline dies, she almost disappears. Same with Anna Wilson-Jones counsellor character who disappears for a period then gets her own major storyline at the end of the series. It's hard to keep up with the comings and goings with characters appearing out of nowhere and poor Thelma remains pointless comic relief the entire series. A total mess that unsurprisingly didn't get a third series.
Lots of little sexy scenes throughout with even the occasional bit of nudity (Christina Cole has two leering shower scenes in the pilot!) and even some lesbian action thanks to one of the main characters being gay.
