Puberty Blues

Another new series (seem to coming out of the woodwork at the moment), this time a reintepretation of Puberty Blues. Only just saw the movie for the first time recently, so it's pretty fresh in my head. Seem to remember a lot more slang than on the show. Show has a wider focus with a fair amount time on the parents, but it's still about Debbie and Sue. And is pretty darn good too, lives up to it's promise.

But, I still miss Jad Capelja...

The final episode airs tonight but I have the Bluray of the series which has been available since last week, so I can redo the entire series in HD and do some collages of Charlotte Best too. This series was alright and had to swim out on its own as it had superseded the book, but I think keeping Debbie (Ashleigh Cummings) and Sue (Brenna Harding) apart for the great majority of it was detrimental and that it the crux of the show. I've heard this may not have been helped by Ashleigh Cummings also filming Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries at the same time, but still... So, there became more focus on Cheryl (Charlotte Best), who moves back into the Vickers' household, much to the merriment of young son David, who has a major crush on her until she destroys it in one fell swoop. Not sure it will get a third series, but considering Channel Ten's fortunes, I wouldn't bet against it, although the series does end most satisfactorily if it was to end.

I did notice that the Brenna Harding 69 scene is uncut on the Bluray with an extra shot that shows what it happening more blatantly, actually it's the first shot of the episode which would have surely shocked viewers if it had aired. In the television version, it is much more implied and even a bit blurry. Not sure if there's other uncut scenes, probably not, although I have some extra scenes that I missed the first time around, mostly very brief stuff, but I don't remember these happening in the episode as aired, so maybe they were cut. Also, there's a frontal male nudity scene that I totally don't remember when it aired. I seem to be missing these little things a little bit lately, so must be more careful when fast forwarding through things.
