Rectify

Caught this sleeper on SBS a few weeks back and was surprised that it hasn't got more love because it's something a little different and is actually pretty good. The tale of a death row inmate (Aden Young) who is given a retrial after his case was re-examined after 20 years in jail and how his family and the town react to him being out. It's a slow burn and you're never convinced that he still didn't do it, but it works and Aden Young hasn't had a role this good since the early days, which is a shame. Abigail Spencer is also very good as his younger sister who never gave up on him and Adelaide Clemens pulls off a pretty convincing Southern accent. Glad there's going to be a second series because there's a lot more story to tell.

And the show has the requisite two Australians that all American shows must now have, so it passes that requirement.

I gotta say, I'm really liking this show. It's as slow as treacle and not a lot happens but I'm loving the intrigue. Good to see it's getting a third season.
