Skin Deep

1983 soapie TV movie from the makers of the Glass Babies and is every bit as trashy as that was. Set at a modelling agency and run by two friends, things are about to go to shit for the agency when one of the woman's illegitimate daughter becomes a model at the agency. Also, a very underage wannabe model (played by Nicole Kidman in possibly her first ever role, even pre-BMX Bandits) is murdered by a sleazy agency client who had a run-in (read, rape) with the same woman with the illegitimate daughter. And it turns out that the other friend is making some of the models become prostitutes and that's about to blow-up in there faces. Then there's the modelling show host who's a hopeless drunk (who likes showing everyone his 'elephant' impersonation, take a guess what that entails...), so there's a bit of comedy in his pathetic antics. But otherwise, this is an incredibly poor 80s soap released the same year as the infinitely better soap miniseries Return To Eden. Even the sleaze is rather lame including a mother who washes her daughter in the bath. Boo!!
