Australian update part 7

As you would've seen, I didn't post anything last week. And you know how I wrote that heartfelt story about my life in the last update. Well, I suffered a major rejection in my life last weekend and just didn't feel like doing anything. I think I'm over it now (well, I hope I am, but it hurt, a lot), so I'm back with the last Australian update with a couple of things I could've only done this week.

I've gone off Prison Break. It started as a good idea, but quickly started to drag on forever. The first series should have lost 10 episodes because it just went round and round in circles. And apparently the lead character has a thousand back up plans in case the other 999 fail. But the second series promised some sexy stuff from Holly Valance, so it's hard to pass up. But now that has passed, I don't think I'll be back.

Date Movie is the worst movie ever. And I went and saw it at the cinema with my friends. I fucking hate my friends...

I had to do a fair bit of work to get the caps from Weekend With Kate up to scratch. The original DVD source is terrible, a lot of interlacing and a fair bit of quick movement. But thanks to the magic of WinDVD, the best DVD software around (it shits all over PowerDVD which everyone else uses. Why?) I was able to to make something of it. And man is this movie late 80s, early 90s. Mullets, bad clothes, dodgy lingo, it's got it all, but the film isn't that bad and is helped by great actors like Colin Friels and Catherine McClements, who would get back together to make Water Rats a very watchable show.

Last Train To Freo was the sleeper Australian film of 2006 and mainly because of a brilliant lead performance by Steve Le Marquand as a petty thug who with his mate menaces, people who get on the train. Based on a play, so it's a little showy at times, but it's a very good film of changing dynamics as the motives of the people on the train come clear. And if you think it's weird that Gigi's character would wear a sexy dress and then go on the last train by herself, you have to watch to the film to find out the reason for it.

And then there's some stuff that I found rotting away on my hard drive. Some from a depressing short film called The Heartbreak Tour and some from Blue Heelers that hasn't been on TV for over a year.

This is the last Australian update for the moment. It dragged on longer than I thought it would, but then again, nothing much has been released since the start of the year. I'm going to cap a few things I've downloaded over the past few weeks, but it's nothing spectacular. So don't expect much next week.

And thanks for all your comments, messages and emails in the past couple of weeks. It's been a pleasure reading them. And keep enjoying the site. I'm not going anywhere in the near future...

Oh, and go and watch Shortbus on DVD for the experience of your life :D

Australian update part 6

I know I haven't been putting out much lately, but that is because life has a way of getting in the way. Basically, this is my one of my hobbies, that conveniently mixes with another of my hobbies, watching movies. And if I could actually get paid to do this, of course I would spend more time on making caps, but I do this out of my own pocket, spending upwards of a thousand dollars a year. So, I have to work, even in lousy jobs to supplement this. And I'm attempting a social life, which is a complete and utter shambles, play sport which I enjoy doing and of course there's that prick of thing called sleep.

I spend about 15-20 hours a week on the updates, that includes watching movies, making caps and videos, putting together the collage panels so that they have some semblance of a pattern, attempting to make them seamless then putting them in collage form, putting the web page together and finally posting the update. Most of that is on Sunday, which is the only day I can sit down on the computer and put things together. I spend probably 10 hours doing this on Sunday, so I can only find 5-10 hours on the other 6 days of the week. So, basically, you've seen my life at a nutshell, it's tough to make time to do these caps, but it's something I enjoy doing and will continue to do so.

I'm still going with this Australian update, even after last weeks diversion, and this time I've actually found some stuff to put up, and of course I was inspired by one woman, the star of this update, Emma Lung. I saw 48 Shades in the cinema after I got off work early and that was only have I blew off a nice woman to see it (that would be my shambolic social life). But, the compensation for that is Emma looks so damn ravishing in this film. She is perfectly cast here as a housemate who the other two housemates (a teenage boy and his female cousin) have a crush on, but Emma's character is off in her own world, full of pathetic boyfriends and impulsive actions. I unashamedly liked this film, sure, it's slight, but it has a nice charm about it.

A Wreck, A Tangle is a film that slipped under the radar in Australia. The film has some good intentions, and some good lead performances, but it runs out ideas fast and seems to come to a sudden finish. Annelise Phillips has been a fave of mine for a while, which is shame that she hasn't been in any movies for a while. And she is very good here.

I've talked about Leeanna Walsman before and how I have become enamored her from such things as Love Is A Four Letter Word and Jessica. Here, I recap The Shark Net from a 720p HD source and the piss poor Hercules with Leeanna. The Shark Net is a bit of a misfire as it focuses on the less interesting story (of a journalist's life, instead of more on his sort of relationship with a notorious serial killer. But, it does mean that Leeanna gets more screen time, which is a plus. I like that scene at the beach featured in the collages below. Also, The Shark Net is where I first saw that red haired beauty Emma Booth, who has a small role here. I predicted last year she would become a focus at this site, and with confirmation of some hot scenes and some nude scenes in Clubland, look out for more later in the year.

Taking a rest from the Aussie updates for a moment

04/02 - Complete and uncut video of the dueling mastubation scene from The Book of Revelation now available as requested.

It's been a slow week as I've had better things to do (about time), so only one series for this update. And I've gone away from the Australian update for a week to release a series from the film The Quiet. But, don't worry, the Australian update is still coming and there are plenty of things lined up.

Also, you may have noticed that the site has been down a bit in the last week which I apologise for. There's not much I can do about the bandwidth limit and the current demand, so you'll just have to be patient. But, you will eventually get access to the site.

The Quiet went straight to DVD here in Australia and died a horrible death at the box office in America. And with good reason. The film doesn't know what it wants to be. A teen thriller? A study of incest and teen sexuality? A study of a suburban family falling apart, a la American Beauty? On all levels, it's extremely vague and in the end, it just seems so very stupid. Edie Falco's character is terribly written and her motives are ridiculous. Then there's the school hunk who falls for the deaf girl (Camilla Belle), to which he decides to tell all his dark sexual fantasies to her, hoping to perform some of them with her. (Spoilers coming) But, she is not deaf, just faking it because of recent trauma, hears all the fantasies and still has sex with him. Then, when the hunk finds out she's not deaf, he's offended. Come on... And then there's Elisha Cuthbert's character who is constantly ironing her cheerleader uniform. What..? Oh, it's terrrible and there's more to whinge about, but who cares...
