Update for 28 February...

Another couple of movies from the pile. Remember vividly watching Body Shots in cinemas back in 2000 (apparently) and being in an audience that was completely baffled by its concept which is a strange mix of 'he said, she said' rape drama and docudrama about the night life. Pretty sure the only reason I saw it in cinemas was because I found out that Tara Reid was naked in it while lurking on some celeb messageboard and it was still the pre-DVD days, so the only place to see it was in cinemas or 6-12 months later on VHS. Nowadays. Body Shots would get a VOD release and nobody would care, but at least you had to get off your arse back in the day. It isn't a great movie, but at least it doesn't offer an easy out at the end, although it does make strong hints. Definitely an odd one. Great nude scenes from Tara Reid (and she didn't really do much more nudity than this) but I reckon the Emily Procter scene is probably a double, seems to look like two different women in the scene. The Rapture is one helluva of a movie that I'd never seen before about a woman (Mimi Rogers) who gets bored of her swinger lifestyle and starts believing in God and that he is about to bring the Rapture to Earth. Then it gets real crazy... Never seen it before now (barely released in Australia), but it's quite something, very surprised at the direction it takes and how it ends. Wish I'd seen it well before now. Sadly the copy I got cuts off too high in the Mimi Rogers shower scene so you only get a brief hint of her breasts, although having seen other version of the scene, there's not that much more shown. Ah, damn it...

More 90s movies from the pile, Girl 6 is a movie about a woman who takes a job as a phone sex operator and lets face it, phone sex is cinematically boring and this movie does nothing to dispel that no matter how much Spike Lee tries to make it seem interesting. Also, awful lot of men calling phone sex lines on outside public telephones. Baffling... Girl 6 has dated horrendously.

Update for 17 February...

Was working on this update before my forced hiatus, so here it finally is.

Compulsion is an erotic thriller where prominent erotic novelist Sadie (Analeigh Tipton) takes a break from her book tour and joins her ex-boyfriend Alex (Jakob Cedergren) at his Italian villa after a fight with her current boyfriend Thierry (Valentin Merlet). They are joined by Alex's friend Francesca (Marta Gastini) and Sadie has an instant attraction to her and they begin an affair. Alex doesn't mind as he has other plans for Sadie that will begin with the party he has planned. During the party, Sadie sees a woman ritualistically killed and is shocked by this, but when she wakes in the morning, she chalks this up to a nightmare possibly caused by a drug Alex gave her. Sadie continues her affair with Francesca but Alex has another party planned for the evening and this time the special guest is Thierry, who hopes to get patch things up with Sadie, but she's far more interested in Francesca. As the party progresses, it becomes clear Alex and Francesca have their own designs on Sadie and Thierry looks like being the victim of this plan to indoctrinate Sadie. Wacko European erotic thriller with a beautiful location, a fair amount of sex including lesbian scenes but a plot so ludicrous it seems like padding in between the sex. Strangely, Analeigh Tipton is cast in the lead of this movie, which is a bit of shock (a good one) considering she's never really done heavy sexual scenes in any of the movies I've seen her in to date, but she takes to it surprisingly well. And thank fuck for that because the plot really is nutty and not worth talking about. Damn, 2018 is looking like it's going to be a helluva year for actresses going nude.

Update for 8 February...

Sleepwalker is a sleep disorder thriller where student Sarah (Ahna O'Reilly) is sleepwalking and having disturbing nightmares. She checks into the sleep disorder clinic run by Dr. Cooper (Izabella Scorupco) but after a sleeping session, she wakes up as someone else called Sarah with a different surname, one which she doesn't recognise. Also, Dr. Cooper doesn't seem to recognise her despite her helping Sarah earlier. She seeks advice from another doctor, Scott (Richard Armitage), but the nightmares continue with a psychotic killer (Haley Joel Osment) after her and she now wakes up in different places and also her roommates fail to recognise her. Distraught, Sarah seeks more help from Dr. Scott but things are not what they seem. Will Sarah overcomes her sleeping problems or is it something more sinister? Sleep disorder thrillers are always a tricky genre to pull off and the entire process involves numerous twists as there are no real world rules in dreams, but it also means that these movies end up being ridiculously complicated and Sleepwalker is yet another example. There seems to be a number of different timelines going on here, none really ending satisfactorily, but the plot intrigues enough to make the movie fairly watchable plus Ahna O'Reilly spends a fair chunk of the movie in a very flimsy nightie (all put together in one 7 1/2 minute video below). I think her wearing that nightie is a plot device, but I can't figure out what it's significance is. But it is very significant, particularly in an unscheduled rainstorm...

Update for 7 February...

New Australian movie that was partly made in Finland.

Innuendo is a drama where Finnish twin Tuuli (Saara Lamberg, who also plays her sister Suvi) comes to Melbourne to escape her life. Tuuli starts from scratch, knowing no-one but meets Thomas (Andy Hazel) who lets her stay in his share house although for the most part she seems aloof. She takes up a job as a nude model and that where she meets Ben (Brendan Bacon), an artist who asks her to stay at his farm where he makes his art, chainsaw sculpting which interests Tuuli, but he makes his money through drug dealing. Ben is interested in Tuuli but she never really reciprocates. Tuuli is also having dark thoughts, mainly about the happy people around her that began back when she was a child in an abusive family back in Finland. After being dropped off one night by a couple after an art class, Tuuli acts out on these dark impulses and sets fire to their house, killing the woman and serious injuring the man. She then sets her sights on a couple of friends who are about to be married. What is causing Tuuli violent behaviour and can she be stopped? Intriguing movie with some interesting and somewhat disturbing stuff that is almost a great movie except it gets bogged down by the whole twin plot which works very well for a while until there's a need to have a twist ending and then it becomes tangled and messy. Tuuli is an impossible character to like but she's very intriguing and it's no wonder a number of men gravitate towards her, but she gives them nothing and that makes her infuriating to watch at times. I think this is a very good debut movie from actress/writer/director/everything else Saara Lamberg, not entirely successful, but an intriguing debut nonetheless.
