Rachel Ward in Against All Odds, After Dark, My Sweet and Double Jeopardy

Yeah, I know this is a bit of a stretch for this section, but Rachel has been living in Australia since the 80s, married to the most Aussie bloke ever in Bryan Brown and being in and written/directed more than a few Australian movies/TV shows, so that's my reasoning plus I'm making the rules, so they're whatever I like...

Anyway, I've wanted to watch Against All Odds for a while as it's a remake of the excellent Out Of The Past and wanted to see if it as good, sadly it isn't but it's still not a bad little noir movie in its own right and Rachel looks great (and also Jeff Bridges looking pretty buff). After Dark, My Sweet is a fairly decent Jim Thompson adaptation and lets face it, Rachel was born to be a femme fatale in noir movies (see also Sharky's Machine and the noir piss take Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid). Double Jeopardy also treads in similar territory, but is more a courtroom drama than a flat out mystery and probably feels more like a TV movie that has a bit more sex and violence than the usual TV movie.

I capped Double Jeopardy from the locally released DVD, but the quality is not high although it's perfectly fine. I seriously doubt there will be a high definition version of the movie.

Lisa Harrow in Omen 3: The Final Conflict

Haven't done a lot of stuff for this series in the past couple of months, not because I don't have much material, but I've focused on other parts of the site more. I try to do at least an update a week, gotta try harder.

Nicole Kidman in The Killing Of A Sacred Deer and Margot At The Wedding

Just finishing off a couple of series for the year, one a new release movie and the other from 10 years ago.

The Killing Of A Sacred Deer is another oddball movie from Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster, Dogtooth), this time about a surgeon (Colin Farrell) who has the perfect family that begins to unravel when he introduces the teenage son of a patient who died during a surgery he performed. Another strange slow burn and very mannered movie that's one part satirical and one part 'is this really happening?' that as much frustrating as it is fascinating. I liked the movie more the longer it went, even it's truly out there ending, but again, it's another movie that's not for everyone.

And Nicole is still doing nude scenes after all these years, which is great, sure her more recent nude scenes are much more controlled and are not closely shot as they once were, but she's still doing those scenes considering it's 31 years since her first nude scenes in Windrider (which I see is getting a Bluray release soon, must check that out).

Toni Collette in Madame

New movie for today's update, a French comedy of manners starring Toni Collette as a well-off woman who becomes insanely jealous of her maid (Pedro Almodovar favourite Rossy de Palma) after she lets her maid briefly into her world and she becomes a hit with her friends. OK movie, some funny moments and Rossy de Palma is very good as the maid who gets a new lease of life only to have it taken away from her by her jealous boss. There's a full frontal nude scene from Toni Collette, but not a lot else to cap in the movie.

I've probably got a whole bunch of stuff featuring Toni lying around, so I should have a look into releasing that sometime soon.
