Lisa Gerrard in El Niño De La Luna, Belinda Bauer in Winter Kills

A couple of movies from quite a while ago starring Australian actresses.

El Niño De La Luna is a Spanish fantasy movie starring Australian composer Lisa Gerrard in her only acting role. The movie is about an orphan child with special powers who is recruited by a moon worshipping cult to be the chosen one but he is to be usurped by the unborn child of a child-like woman (Lisa Gerrard) that is conceived using the power of the full moon. The orphan escapes the cult and goes on a journey to Africa with the woman in an attempt to fulfil what he thinks he was put on Earth to do. Weird and wild movie, pretty good and fairly interesting. Gerrard is better known for her music, particularly composing score and songs for movies, particularly for Michael Mann movies like Heat, The Insider and Ali and also for Gladiator but that only skims the surface of her work.

Winter Kills in a 1979 conspiratorial thriller where the brother (Jeff Bridges) of a president who has assassinated 19 years previous gets information about his brother's death and checks it out where he finds the gun that was used and in the blink of an eye he is thrown into the bizarre plot involving wildly different interests including his own father that he will need to contact to get to the bottom of his brother's death. Preposturous movie, completely wacky and makes little to no sense and features a neverending list of bizarre characters and a cavalcade of stars (no more baffling than a mute cameo from Elizabeth Taylor). Also seems to have had a highly trouble history which caused it to be shelved for quite a while and it's not hard to see why once you've watched it. Anyway, Australian actress Belinda Bauer turns up in the pivotal role as Bridges' love interest who is neck deep in the plot. It was her first movie role and she didn't have much of a career, ending with Poison Ivy 2: Lily playing the put upon wife of Xander Berkeley's character. But she does have a rather boisterous sex scene as her introduction in Winter Kills.
