Update for 31 August...

Quick update today with movies a bit thin at the moment but I'm working on rectifying that.

The Gunman is a thriller where seven years before, Terrier (Sean Penn), in a relationship with a doctor Anna (Jasmine Trinca) who both work in the Congo, becomes involved (i.e. he took the shot) in the assassination of the mining minister in Congo. In the present, Terrier is working back in the Congo again building wells when he is attacked by a group of men who are specifically looking for him. He gets away and leaves the country immediately and goes about finding out why he is now being targeted. He contacts those involved with the assassination including Cox (Mark Rylance), who now runs the company they used to work for. Terrier reaches out to an old buddy Stanley (Ray Winstone) who helps him track down Felix (Javier Bardem) in Spain, who he finds out is married to his long lost love Anna. Felix becomes very unstable with the arrival of Terrier, but mainly because he knows Anna will go back to Terrier, which she does. When Felix gets in touch with his contacts, he starts a series of events that will have Terrier running for his life while finding out who is behind this and keeping Anna safe. Not a bad little European thriller, but not without some dodgy plot turns and scenes (the scene at the aquarium comes to mind, so does most things Bardem does in the movie), but that doesn't stop The Gunman being watchable throughout with some decent action scenes.

Update for 25 August...

Today update's is from the Spanish drama Tirante el Blanco, a very silly movie about the sexual shenanigans of the monarchy in ancient Spain and has a terrible performance from the no charisma lead male who doesn't seem to have done much else, unsurprisingly. The version I have is in English which it looks like it was filmed in, but it is dubbed with very English voices and sounds plain weird when some actors speak, particularly those who have worked in English language and I know how they sound. There's also some English actors who sound like they've been dubbed too. Baffling...

Update for 24 August...

A couple of quick series today, 2009's Mexican drama/thriller Sin Nombre, a pretty decent movie about a girl trying to enter America and a boy from a gang who saves her from an assault from his leader and joins the train the illegal immigrants are taking while he is being tracked down by his young offsider. The Face of an Angel is an insufferable movie about a director trying to make a movie from a case very similar to the Amanda Knox murder trial. Is alright when it's about finding out about the case involving interactions with a British waitress (Cara Delevingne) as his local tour guide, but all the movie making stuff, anything with Kate Beckinsale (not her fault) and whining over his former lover is just unwatchable. Ugh...

Starting a new feature on the site which features Australian/NZ actresses in overseas productions (mainly American TV). With an ever increasing amount of 'Down Under' actresses trying their luck, it's an area I've only given a small amount of time to, so it's time to catch up. The first update is of Yvonne Strahovski from the first season of Chuck and I'm aiming for at least one new update a week and there's plenty to get to. Have a look and keep an eye on the front page to see for when new stuff is available.

It's redux time again, today is HD redo of the 2006 drama Where The Truth Lies. Was thinking that I hadn't seen Alison Lohman in anything recently and looked it up and she seems to have pretty much retired from film/TV. Wow, did not know that...

Another couple of movies today, one, Bel Ami, that I've finally gotten around to capping and the other La Habitación Del Niño is a HD upgrade. Ha, I remember forking out $50 for the 6 Spanish horror movie series that La Habitación Del Niño was a part of back in the day (probably around 2007-2008) and never got around to watching any of them except the one below. I've still got it, maybe one day I'll watch the rest, but in the meantime, it's $50 well spent!
