Nicky Whelan in Satisfaction series 2

Something new today with Nicky Whelan's run on the second series of Satisfaction, which has just ended, um, that probably should be a spoiler. There was some sexy stuff, some hints of nudity but nothing more than a bit of side-boob which I assume is all that is allowed. Don't watch Satisfaction, but there sure seems to be a lot of sex on that show, wish there was some actual nudity too. Also worth noting is another Australian actress, Kate Beahan, turns up in an upcoming episode playing a swinger, but sadly doesn't show anything. Damn it...

Nicky seems to be getting plenty of work in the US, even turning up in those new George Clooney Nespresso ads and also apparently appears in the new Terrence Malick movie Knight of Cups which is chock full of Australian actresses as is. Currently playing in cinemas here, been umming and ahhing about going to see it, so that'll probably mean I'll miss it.

Isla Fisher in Visions and Wedding Daze

A couple of movies featuring Isla Fisher, one new one (Visions) and one from 2006 (Wedding Daze). Neither movie is great although there's a few oddball laughs in Wedding Daze, mainly from the supporting cast, but Visions is a fairly routine thriller with Isla Fisher's character experiencing visions that make her seem to be insane, but apparently they are linked to something nobody knows about from 100 years ago, except this ends up being unrelated basically invalidating that part of the plot. One of those movies that would have been way better if it plied the less is more theory, instead of the mostly forgettable end result.

Adelaide Kane in Reign series 1

Another one of those American shows that are full of Australian actors, particularly two actresses who were on Neighbours together. Adelaide is the lead in Reign, which I gotta say would've been a surprise going by her Neighbours appearance which was her first acting job and was very unremarkable, but from what I've seen, she seems fine in Reign, improved dramatically.

Personally, I can't really say that much about Reign as I haven't watched it and have no interest in doing so as it hits that sweet spot of things I can't stand. Anything to do with royalty is a total snoozefest for me and from what I've seen, Reign ain't going to change that. The sexy stuff is very light being a network show, but there are some moments throughout series one. In tomorrow's update featuring the other Australian actress, Caitlin Stasey, she has slightly more sexier stuff playing the king's mistress (I think!).

Yvonne Strahovski in Chuck series 2 (part 1)

Chuck was the first series on this section of the site and being 5 series long, it's going to take a while to finish up. But here's series 2, done and dusted, well with a second part with collages tomorrow.

Show basically picks up from series 1, but with more focus on the people in Chuck's life who are all apparently involved in the spy life, which is a strange coincidence... Surely when Chuck's mother undoubtedly rolls in it would be highly likely she would be anything but a spy. I did like seeing Jordana Brewster as Chuck's love of his life who turned out to be a rival spy (surprise!) and hopefully she comes back in further series because let's face it, the way they kept bringing her back got more and more ridiculous by the end of the series. And there seemed to be more slow motion fantasy or just plain sleazing on Yvonne in this season. Not that I'm complaining, but it is becoming formulaic, which I didn't think was possible...

Kerry Fox in Shallow Grave

Today's update is from the 1994 Scottish thriller, the first collaboration between director Danny Boyle, writer John Hodge and producer Andrew Macdonald, who would go onto make Trainspotting, A Life Less Ordinary and The Beach. Haven't seen Shallow Grave since it's VHS release over 20 years ago, but I remember certain scenes very well, which I didn't when I recently rewatched Croupier which came out at a similar time. Particularly the scene where Kerry Fox bashes her shoe into the knife stuck in Ewen McGregor. Still a pretty decent movie about three horrible housemates who find their new tenant naked and dead and with a suitcase full of money. So, they decide to keep the money and get rid of the body. Of course this leads to rising tensions between the three and into the path of a couple of crims who want that money back.

Kerry works all over the place, mostly in Britain, but turns up in Australian and New Zealand movies all the time and currently in the newly released The Dressmaker and still in cinemas Holding The Man.
