Update for 29 March...
More new Australian content.
Black & White & Sex is an interview drama where a usually unseen director (Matthew Holmes) interviews a prostitute named Angie for a film called Black & White & Sex. Angie, portrayed by 8 actresses (in order: Katherine Hicks, Anya Beyersdorf, Valerie Bader, Roxane Wilson, Michelle Vergara Moore, Dina Panozzo, Saskia Burmeister and Maia Thomas) is interviewed about her livelihood, how and why she got into prostitution, why she continues to do it, what she gets out of it and various experiences she's had. Over the while, we get to know more about both Angie and the director, including why the director has chosen Angie and prostitution as his subject. Angie can be whoever you want her to be and over the 90 minutes, we are going to find out who she can be. A difficult film to describe as the entire movie is an interview between the director and Angie, pertaining to be as it happened. And it's unbelievably fascinating. Angie is a wildcard and doesn't like not being in control and throughout the interview, the power between the interviewer and interviewee changes back and forth. The story of both the interviewer and interviewee in fascinating as is explored fairly extensively over the 90 minutes. It's a terrible shame that this film has barely seen the light of day and is the most engrossing Australian film I've seen since Alexandra's Project (which is actually the closest film plot wise that I can think of, although still very different) and that was 10 years ago. If you are up for something very different to watch, Black & White & Sex is well worth a look. Great stuff all round.
Plenty of video below including some nudity, mainly from Maia Thomas (although Katherine Hicks and Saskia Burmeister have some very brief stuff). There's a video of each actress below, plus two videos featuring all the actresses in scenes where they are all combined together.

Update for 27 March...
Back to the coal mine...
Death Race: Inferno is the third in the series of films about jailed criminals that are forced to race cars in a death race. Following on from the previous film, Death Race has been taken over from Weyland (Ving Rhames) in a hostile fashion by Niles York (Dougray Scott). And he is adding a new dimension to it, including bringing back the supposedly dead Frankenstein (Luke Goss), much to the chagrin of his lover Katrina (Tanit Phoenix), who was still mourning him. With the team all back including Goldberg (Danny Trejo) and Lists (Fred Koehler), Frankenstein is still one race win away from getting out of prison, but York is having none of that. He doesn't want to lose his drawcard for his new, improved Death Race, which now takes place outside of the prison, in the Kalahari Desert. York has given Frankenstein an ultimatum, if he wins, he kills him, but with the help of his team and from some unexpected quarters, he may still wins and get out of prison alive. Long time visitor to the site would probably know that I am not enamoured with the new, improved Death Race franchise, as it's completely humourless and goes well away from the corny, but very watchable Roger Corman produced 70s gem Death Race 2000. This film is doesn't change a thing and after taking an eternity to get to the actual Death Races, the 3rd in the trilogy, but second in order, drags intermittently to over 100 minutes of the same shit. At least Tanit Phoenix briefly gets naked and the film ends with the suggestion that it will be the last, unless they completely recast it and set it after the first film, which I don't rule out. That's the best I can say about Death Race: Inferno, I'm afraid.
Also, I caught something when I was going through my videos and that is Hlubi Mboya has a very brief nip-slip (well, technically breast slip) during one of below videos. Here are some raw caps of it:

Australian VHS Classics for 26 March...
Haven't gone to the vault in a while, so let's see what we can find today.
Hungry Heart is a 1987 moody drama set in Melbourne when the prodigal son Sal (Nick Carrafa), a doctor who was working in Wangaratta, returns home to take stock of his life. His father is lost without his dead wife and his friends have moved on, not necessarily in a good way. Then, he meets Katie (Kimberly Davenport), a flaky girl who instinctively kisses him when she first meets him. Sal falls for her instantly, enough to drop everything and move in with her and her flatmate and best friend Jane (Lisa Schouw). Over time, their relationship dies. Oh, and one of his friend's wants Sal to help him steal some dogs. Yeah, riveting stuff here. Apart from the casual nudity, Hungry Heart is a complete snoozefest. No characters are interesting enough to follow for 90 minutes and this film just seems to meander from scene to scene. Ah well, some good nudity, but Hungry Heart is deservedly long forgotten...
And as with all series taken from VHS, the quality is lower than usual, but Hungry Heart came out alright and the videos below are actually pretty decent quality.

Update for 24 March...
Back to the Australian films today.
Dace Decklan: Private Eye is a comedy about Dace Decklan, a private eye who is about to relive his past when virginal Magdalena (Stevie Hall) enters his office asking to him to look for her father, Rados, who Dace left in the jungles of Rambosia many years before. Given a firm warning not to go after the tail by his secretary/lover Pollyanna, Dace finds that Magdalena is not alone in wanting to Rados. It seems he has invented pills that are more potent than Viagra and his ex-scientific partner wants for himself and a mysterious sex-hating religious group called the Americans, run by Satan-hating nutcase Reverend Callahan. In Rambosia, they find that Rados is not the man he once was, obsessed with getting an everlasting erection. Dace and Stevie are confronted by the local drug cartel run by Dominguez, who has a plan to use the pills to start a plan of world domination involving the Japanese and whales. Can Dace save the day and reunite father and daughter? Dace Decklan: Private Eye is under no illusions as to what it is, an ultra-low budget lowbrow comedy with an obsession with penises and cheese. It makes no attempt to be great and is proud and of that fact and so it should. It has a few laughs, it is utterly silly and doesn't muck around in doing so. Personally, I think Dace Decklan: Private Eye would work even better in a crowd than watching it by yourself, but it is what it is, and if you don't like low rent films, this won't change your mind, but if your up for something silly, Dace Decklan: Private Eye is worth a look. Just don't expect greatness...

Update for 21 March...
Here's something new and not Australian...
King Kelly is a found footage film (of sorts) following the exploits of Kelly (Louisa Krause) on one American Independence Day, also her father's birthday. And it's going to be a helluva day. Kelly still lives with her parents and makes money by performing webcam sex shows on the internet under her nickname King Kelly, but she wants more and is about to start her own website. Her best friend Jordan (Libby Woodbridge) knows what Kelly is up to and as they are working out poses for her website, her former boyfriend Ryan steals her car, well, his car that she was borrowing from her. Just one thing, the car has a small package of drugs that Kelly couriers to make a little extra money. Just one more thing, her go-between didn't tell her that the package was decidedly bigger than usual this time around and that someone not going to happy if they don't get it back. And just one more thing, Ryan isn't home and seemed to of dropped off the map. Kelly and Jordan go looking for Ryan in Jordan's mum's car, but happen upon a party where an incident between Kelly and Jordan's boyfriend is interrupted by Jordan, who subsequently gets off her face to numb the pain. But, they still need to find Ryan, which is about to become harder when they crash the car. How are they going to get out this and get the drugs? By calling one of Kelly's fans, Poo-Bare, a state trooper. The night has only started to get messy... Found Footage films have become their own genre, but pretty much all of them are horror movies. King Kelly is a horror movie, but of a different sort as in the horror of watching people slowly descend into bigger and bigger problems. King Kelly plays as a satire of the current environment, plotting the incredibly narcissistic exploits of Kelly as performed breathtakingly well by Louisa Krause (who I've only ever seen in bit parts in The Babysitters and Martha Marcy May Marlene) and delivers an ending which is a bigger gut punch than I've seen in other found footage films. It's the Facebook generation and if this is the way we're going, we're fucked. Well worth a look if you want to ruin your evening.

Update for 19 March...
Things may be a bit slow around here, but that's not necessarily the case as I have a number of series that are either half or three quarter finished. Hopefully, I'll plow through them in the next week or two. Anyway, here's another brief series from another new Australian movie.
6 Plots is a thriller about a group of popular students at a Melbourne school who are about to have a night they won't forget any time soon. After a party at one of the group's house, Brie (Alice Darling) wakes up groggy and answers her phone. It looks like someone is playing a prank on her and she is shown footage of all her friends buried in separate graves and is told that she is the only one who can save them. Meanwhile, all who are buried receive a message telling them of their predicament and that if they tell their parents or police, one will die. Sadly, Tess (Emily Wheaton) calls her father, a local cop of her predicament, breaking the rules, so one must die. At the same time, this works in Brie's favour, as now she has the cop helping her save her friends. But, the deck is stacked. The killer is manipulating their phones and is not playing fair. Can Brie save her friends from horrific deaths and can the cop save her daughter before she runs out of air? Nothing new here from the teen bully revenge genre, but not all bad. There's an interesting angle with the manipulation of the captive's mobile phones and one or two bizarre moments including someone rocking out to their music collection while they're waiting for Brie to save them (!!!), but there's nothing to get excited about. At least it's marginally better than the similar Tormented and it has some really cute girls in it like Eliza Taylor (so she's dropped the Cotter?), Emily Wheaton, Alice Darling and Penelope Mitchell, the final two had a bikini scene in an episode of Rush (ha, Eliza Taylor and Emily Wheaton had some nice scenes in Rush as well...). I wish there was more to cap...
Eliza Taylor in 6 Plots

Update for 10 March...
Even more new Australian movies to quickly plough through.
Iron Sky is a Finnish/German/Australian co-production set in 2018 and beginning with two American astronauts landing on the moon, only to discover that it is inhabited by Nazis, who went there after World War 2. One astronaut is killed, the other is captured by aspiring Nazi general Klaus Adler (Götz Otto) but to the horror of the Aryan brotherhood, the astronaut is a black man James Washington (Christopher Kirby). This gives a demented Nazi scientist a chance to try his new invention which turns black people white, which subsequentially works. Meanwhile, Adler has been scientifically matched to loyal Nazi teacher Renate Richter (Julia Dietze) and together with Washington, they head to Earth to see how it can be attacked. They capture the President's right hand man (er, woman) Vivian Wagner (Peta Sergeant) who sees the Nazis as a perfect opportunity to help the flagging public rating of the Sarah Palin-like President (Stephanie Paul). Months later, Renate has warmed to the ways of Earth and become more friendly with the now-white Washington. Meanwhile, the Nazi leader (who else but that old ham Udo Kier) comes to Earth to take the glory from Adler, but the leader and his entourage is shot dead, leaving Adler the leader and the perfect opportunity to start an intergalactic war with Earth and to unleash the Götterdämmerung, whatever the fuck that is... Played completely with tongue firmly in cheek with pretty much everyone copping it in one form or another, Iron Sky is a silly, but fun film. Sure, it's jokes are very hit and miss and some downright questionable (the whole turning a black man white is played about the best it can be without getting all that offensive), but the film is pretty watchable and comes and goes in 80-odd minutes without anyone getting that hurt. I do get the feeling though that this film might really get to some Americans though, especially those that can't laugh a cheap shot off...
Crawl is a thriller that begins with a Croatian hitman (George Shevtsov, always great) killing a mechanic on behest of a sleazy bar owner Slim. Job done. As the hitman leaves town, he hits a man's whose car has broken down, leaving his car unusable. Meanwhile, Marilyn Burns (ahem!) (Georgina Haig) is at her house waiting to celebrate the possibility of her boyfriend proposing to her, but is confronted with the hitman who holds her hostage as her tries to figure out what to do next. With the police onto the trail of the mechanic's killer, Slim becomes increasingly desperate and is about to become moreso when he finds out what the hitman has done. I've said recently that there's been a slew of very promising genre films coming out of Australia and while Crawl is very stylish and very reminiscent to the Coen Brothers' excellent Blood Simple (almost to point where they deserve a credit), the glacial pacing of Crawl is an absolute killer. It's barely a 75 minute film, but the pacing is so slow for a fair portion of it that is wring any momentum the film has from a promising opening. Interesting film but deathly slow which some judicious editing and quickening up could easily fix and turn this into a real gem. Nice try though.
Apologies that I haven't been doing some larger series recently as I'm a bit in between on everything at the moment. I'm hoping to get some more expansive stuff soon, but I can't guarantee that happening immediately.

Update for 8 March...
Geez, plowing through the new Australian movies at the moment.
Circle of Lies is a teen drama set in the made-up Sydney beachside suburb of Short Beach after a tumultuous summer. Denise Dixon (Hilary Caitens) has just had the worst summer of her life and her first week back at school is about to make that worse. On arriving at school, she is greeted by head mean girl Kirsty (Anna Lawrence), who calls her a slag. And it spirals from there. Rumour after rumour escalates what actually happened to Denise and she is finding it hard to find a friend. Finally pushed too far by Kirsty's increasingly disruptive behaviour, Linda (Karina Banno), who was the other girl at the incident, stands up to Kirsty. Also, Denise's former boyfriend and Kirsty's current boyfriend Aiden (Ryan Harrison) is conflicted and wants to help Denise, but does not want to do it to the detriment of his social standing. It's going to be a long week, can Denise survive without losing her sanity or just Kirsty's rampage to destroy her. Feeling more like a made-for-TV movie, Circle of Lies is a by-the-numbers movie that doesn't offer anything new to school bully drama and while it's not inconceivable to imagine the extreme behaviour of Kirsty happening, it still feels rather contrived including the 'modern technology saves the day at the last moment' ending that was already used poorly in the similar Wasted on the Young. Heh, mobile phones can do anything, including ruin movies it seems...
Pretty girls though (that's a given), plus this movie answers the question of whatever happened to Nikki Webster (I recommend checking out the first Anna Lawrence video), I mean after the lads mags appearances... Nice to see Sophie Luck briefly turn up at the end (in a bikini too), being a while since I've seen her in anything, hell it's been a few years since Blue Water High.

Update for 6 March...
OK, here goes nothing...
Housos vs. Authority is a feature film spin-off of the sitcom about the lives of a bunch of housos, who are people who live in government-owned accommodation because they are poor. Dazza Jones (comedian Jabba), his wife Shazza (Elle Dawe), their two kids, Dazza's mum and her husband all live in one house. Throughout the day, they interact with their friends Vanessa (Vanessa Davis), who's with Kev and Franky (writer/director/producer Paul Fenech) who when not rooting any girl he can find, he's a general annoyance to local police. When Shazza gets a letter from her long lost mother, who is dying, she decides to go see her in Alice Springs. But, she and Dazza have no money. And the only way to get quick money is from the bikies run by Angry (Angry Anderson). It just so happens he needs drugs transported to Alice Springs and gives her the loan of a camper van to get there. So, the gang hop in for a trip to Alice Springs. Shazza meets her mother, they reconcile, then her mother dies. Her last wish is to scatter her ashes on Ayres Rock, which is now $25 a person to visit. Not having that money they get around that and get to Ayres Rock, desecrating in a way only a houso can. All bar Franky are caught, but the local court let them off. This pisses off their local member of parliament who wants them to pay, big time. Well, what can I say about this film. Firstly, this film is just preaching to the converted, it's the same jokes on heavy repetition (the same jokes from Fenech previous shows as well. That dead horse he's beating is going to be beaten for plenty more years and series to come). So, nothing in this film is going to change your opinion of this movie. It's the same, same, same but longer. Holy shit, it's longer. There's barely enough plot to make 25 minutes of a TV show and now it's bafflingly 102 minutes long. The first 50 minutes are where all the laughs are and it is already running out of juice by then. And the plot of the film has barely started. They haven't even gotten to Alice Springs by then. In fact, when Housos vs. Authority decides on a plot, it dies horribly and drags and drags and drags until it ends. Housos, the TV show and the movie is much better when it going for dodgy gags, the plot is just padding. Housos vs. Authority is shithouse, but depending on your opinion of Paul Fenech's comedy, that can be a good or a bad thing. Personally, I got laughs, but by halfway, this film dies, many times, as the laughs peter out.
Below, there's a quite a few videos from the Bluray extras. Also, there's so many 2 second sex scenes in this movie (like in the TV show), that I just joined them together for that one person. And they're still the same sex scenes from the TV show. And finally, I was very disappointed that Kiri Schmitt, who played Franky's girlfriend Kylie from the show wasn't in the film (don't believe IMDB). I liked her. I wonder what happened...

Australian Classics Redux for 4 March...
Back to the archive where I've come back with the 1997 road movie True Love and Chaos, a film I distinctly remember being very confused and pissed off about. Basically a road movie where Mimi (Miranda Otto) is heading to Perth without her boyfriend Hanif (Naveen Andrews) until he and his friend Dean (Noah Taylor) rob Dean's drug dealing brother Jerry (Ben Mendelsohn) and need to get away fast. So, they tag along for the ride. Then at their first stop, Mimi meets drunken beardo Morris (Hugo Weaving) and has an instant connection to him, but he's an erratic character and eventually they let him join the trip. But, his presence causes friction between Mimi and Hanif and with Jerry following them, it's all going to explode in Perth. Perfect cast, perfect time but fuck me that second half of the film is a disaster, funnily enough not as confusing as I remember it to be, but still terrible beyond belief. The 'connection' between Mimi and Morris is an all-time howler that ruins the film completely, not because of what it is, but because it so unbelievable. Made by the co-writer of Love and Other Catastrophes (wondering whether that film holds up, in 1996 that was the "coolest film eva", haven't seen it in over a decade), this had some of the right ingredients (that cast, do I need to say it was perfect again? Also, Miranda Otto c. 1996-1998 = perfect), but that second half. Woof!

Redux Friday gets scared...
Haven't done a redux in a few weeks, so here's a quick one from 10 years ago. Rewatching They, or Wes Craven's Presents They (another quick money grab), it's just a baffling as I remember it to be, in fact it reminds me of a film I capped recently The Apparition. Both have a very shallow and poorly explained concept and both have completely incomprehensible ending, but in the case of They, it is much moreso. I have to question how these films get made, honestly, where they like this at the script stage or was the film commissioned before the script was written. They is long forgotten and rightfully so. But, that ending... wow, that's an all-time appalling ending if ever there was one. Even the alternate ending is only slightly more reasonable, but also completely undoes everything that went on in the film. Bah! Never again.
