Australian and New Zealand Actress Nude Guide June 2023

Insight: Anna Cordell

I'm always looking around for stuff that I don't know about for the nude guide and I've recently come across Australian actress Anna Cordell who's made a bunch of short films in America, some of which she also wrote and/or directed. Turns out she's appeared nude in a whole bunch of them and they are all featured below.

Rubber Heart (2017)

This short is a two-hander where Anna is psyching herself to have sex with a bloke but inevitably here heart isn't into it. She is naked for most of the 8 minute movie in which I've only edited out about 30 seconds from below so it's quite extensive.

Min Min (2018)

This short is about two sisters who go out to the desert and dig up their mother's grave to retrieve something they want. There's a brief moment in the short where Anna is peeing, which may be real, before walking off and we see her bottom as she walks away.

The Lumineers movie 'III' (2019)

Next up Anna appears in the movie made for The Lumineers third album titled 'III'. Basically it's a series of music videos for each of the songs off the album but told in a way that has a sort of linear narrative. Anna appears in the first three songs and briefly in one or two others. She plays the mother of the lead character which will eventually turn into Nick Stahl. During the first song, Anna runs out of the house screaming about struggling with the newborn baby and she takes off her top and we briefly see her breasts. Later, there's an upskirt scene after a car crash.

The Idea of a You (2022)

Anna stars in this 35 minute short about two women (Anna and Kate Adams) who 'try out' an actor (Whitmer Thomas) for their movie. Anna plays the director of the short while the other two play variations of themselves. There's a bit of nudity from both actresses: Anna shows her breasts while in the hot tub and then as she gets out and attempts to seduce the actor but is too drunk to do so. Kate shows a hint of her breasts while in the hot tub and then we get a better look in a fantasy sequence as she strips off to take a shower. Later, we briefly see her breasts as she films herself dancing suggestively.

Going to the tapes (90s edition)

I've decided to move any future Australian VHS updates over to this side of the site as there's not a lot going on over here. I have a few ideas but making them happen is another thing and the VHS updates are relevant to this section. Also I'm narrowing down the number of movies from the 70s-2000s to cap so I might be running out of things to do for this section anyway.

Today I'm going to look at three 90s movies, a couple from VHS and one from a superior form of VHS called Bluray. As always with VHS updates the quality varies. Over the Hill is not bad but Say a Little Prayer is a bit jittery and washed-out, nothing too bad but it could be better. I found another copy of the movie taped off TV and it was unwatchable, the sound was just a hiss and the video just got worse the longer it went. What I have below is much better than that.

 

Map of the Human Heart (1992)

First up is the 1992 multi-national romantic drama Map of the Human Heart directed by New Zealander Vincent Ward, best known for his highly visual romantic dramas like Vigil (there's one shot in this movie that still haunts me) and What Dreams May Come. Basically, an old Inuit man in an Arctic base (Jason Scott Lee in old man make-up) tells his story to an American surveyor (John Cusack, who must've turned up for a day to shoot his role) before he leaves about when he was a young boy hes brought to Canada by an English surveyor (Patrick Bergin) after he falls ill and is nursed back to health at a hospital where he meets a young girl Albertine and they form a friendship before she is taken away. But years later the boy is reunited with Albertine (Anne Parillaud) and their connection is reignited as they both take roles during World War 2. There's just one problem and it's that Albertine is with the surveyor and he's none-too-happy about their growing love for one another. Fairly decent but ultimately very depressing romantic drama, the ending is a real downer and didn't need to be. While he's a bit restricted as what he could bring visually, Ward still has a few moments, most notably the Dresden bombing scene which is quite spectacular. Still surprised how pointless John Cusack's role is in this movie. It could've been played by anyone.

There's barely any Australian actors in the movie, I think the only one is Ben Mendelsohn who plays one of the pilots. But there's a nude scene in the movie from French actress Anne Parillaud on top of a balloon.

Over The Hill (1991)

Next up is the 1991 drama Over The Hill starring American actress Olympia Dukakis as Alma, a newly widowed woman who decides to come to Australia and hang out with her daughter (Sigrid Thornton) but she's too busy with her husband's political campaign. She's then finds a car that reminds her of her youth and decides to drive 'the long way' to Melbourne. Along the way, Alma meets various characters in rural Australia including travelling dentist Dutch (English actor Derek Fowlds) and they both fall for one another. But Alma is concerned about her daughter and tries to help her decide what she really wants in life. Silly movie and gets more annoying when it becomes a mother-daughter movie as I never really bought that they were even related or that the daughter wanted what her mother was forcing on her.

A couple of nude scenes in the movie, one from Olympia Dukakis, about 60 at the time (at least playing a 60 year-old), where she takes off her top to join some Indigenous women in a chant where she has an epiphany. Also, we briefly see the breasts of Andrea Moor as she jumps out of the water. Andrea being in quite a lot of things over time, no really in major roles but seems to be having a bit of renaissance in her career turning up in numerous things recently. Don't think she's had another nude scene although I might not have come across it yet.

Say a Little Prayer (1992)

Final movie for this update is the 1992 family drama Say a Little Prayer based on the book by Robyn Klein about a young boy who forms a friendship with his older neighbour (Sudi de Winter) and things are going fine until it turns out she's a heroin addict and when she overdoses, their friendship becomes strained. Did I say it's a family drama..? The movie barely got released, in fact I think it finally had a small run in cinemas in 1995 but I do remember the trailer to this movie turning up on VHS movies fairly regularly.

This movie is PG rated but there's a very brief moment where Sudi de Winter strips off for a shower and we briefly see the side of her right breast before she enters the shower. Sudi didn't have a long career, she was done by 1998 having done mostly TV work. She reminds me a lot of Saskia Post and this may be no coincidence as Saskia was the lead in director Richard Lowenstein's previous movie Dogs in Space.
