Australian and New Zealand Actress Nude Guide March 2023

Oversight: Peta Wilson

Trying to get motivated to do another blog post and in the back of my mind I keep meaning to do an update featuring Peta Wilson for the Australian/NZ actresses overseas of the site but I keep forgetting.

The other day I decided to have a look if anything has changed about the availability of The Sadness of Sex, which had only being available in segments on YouTube uploaded 15 years ago but missing the sections with nudity in them. The movie was never released in Australia and didn't get a DVD release as far as I can tell. Well, it turns out that The Sadness of Sex is now available to watch on both Tubi and Plex so finally I could cap the movie. Then I started looking for other stuff featuring Peta. I already had a widescreen version of Mercy but I found a fullscreen version of the movie and both have their virtues in showing more nudity. The 1996 movie Loser is also on the US version of Tubi as with the entirety of La Femme Nikita but I didn't have the time to check all of it.

So what started as a remnant ended up being a much bigger update than I was planning, which is good. So let's go through what I found.

Peta started her career in America in the mid 90s, starting with a number of small roles. She appears briefly in the tantalisingly titled Naked Jane, which has plenty of nudity from the lead actress Renee Stahl but nothing from Peta.

The Sadness of Sex (1995)

Basically a spoken word movie with 15 vignettes where a man discusses his thoughts on love and in this movie he lusts after 'The Girl of his Dreams' played by Peta. Pretty much all of the nudity comes from one section of the movie where the man finally gets together with The Girl of his Dreams but she turns out to be fairly lukewarm about the experience.

There's a fair bit of nudity in the section as Peta shows her breasts and bottom.

Loser (1996)

Another small role for Peta in this very 90s indie drama. She plays the girlfriend of the loser lead character who can't get his shit together with her so she turns to her female friend for further affection. In a scene with Kim Antepenko, we see her right breast briefly on-and-off.

Mercy (1999)

Everywhere lists this as a 2000 movie when it released early in that year but the end of the movie has it listed as a 1999 movie. Very much off the back of the 90s erotic serial killer murder/mystery thriller which by the end of the decade had branched out to involve a lesbian angle (see also the same year's The Monkey's Mask). Plenty of nudity and lesbian action in this movie including a decent amount from Peta. There are four different scenes: The first where she shows her bottom as she gives a hair sample to the police officer played by Ellen Barkin. The second where we see full frontal nudity plus her bottom while pulling up her see-through dress and posing for someone while Ellen Barkin's character (and the audience) try to understand what's going on. The third where she's found dead on a bed naked which is seen better in the widescreen version of the movie. The final scene is where she shows her breasts in a tape where she is being shackled in readiness to be dominated by two women.

La Femme Nikita (1997-2001)

I haven't had the time to check through all episodes, or any, but I do know that there's a brief nude scene where we see her bottom and a hint of the side of her right breast as she walks naked over to a naked man she just had sex with. This happens in the first episode of series 2. I'm not sure of anything further but the whole 4 series are on Tubi US so something else for me to take forever to check.

I've also capped a few scenes from the 1997 telemovie remake of the 1971 cult classic Vanishing Point starring Viggo Mortenstern. Peta has a small role in the movie as the motorcycle girl, which in the original is played by Gilda Texter who was nude throughout her screen time, sadly not repeated by Peta. Boo!!

Peta also has an almost nude scene in the 2003 telemovie False Pretenses where it looks like she's wearing patches on her breasts.

Also of note is that she flashes her bush in the near-impossible to find 90s HBO anthology series Strangers. I'll keep a look out for it but that one may be lost to time.

Peta doesn't act much anymore but she made a rare appearance in an Australian production last year when she played the neighbour to Thomas Jane's character in the ABC mystery drama Troppo.
