Sadly, Samantha Noble hasn't been in anything for a while and good old IMDB reliably informs me that her movie Court of the Lonely Royals was released in 2011 even though I distinctly remember capping it in 2006. Because of this, I now have the ability time travel. Good to know...

Update for 26 September...

Byzantium is a vampire drama following Clara (Gemma Arterton) and her sister/daughter Eleanor (Saoirse Ronan) who are again on-the-run from mysterious men who want to eliminate Eleanor as she is the key to a vampire brotherhood. Moving to a new town, Clara meets Noel (Daniel Mays) when he hires her as a prostitute, but ends up convincing Clara and Eleanor to stay in his empty apartment building called Byzantium. Clara starts up a brothel of sorts in Byzantium, while Eleanor befriends Frank (Caleb Landry Jones) and through writing her apparently astonishing story, tells Frank that she and Clara are vampires. This alarms Clara as the truth will probably lead to the people they are running from finding them and Clara's answer to this problem is to kill everyone that knows the secret. And thanks to Eleanor's writing, it's an ever-growing list. Interesting take on the incredibly bloated vampire genre, Byzantium doesn't take the easy way out and is surprisingly complicated (particularly the Vampire Brotherhood stuff) nor does it pander to the new-age of vampirism which is for the most part completely wussy. Byzantium is a pretty solid movie with an intriguing premise and with both Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan killing it, what's not to like. Oh and Gemma does a lot of running in this movie and in skimpy clothes...

Update for 22 September...

10 Rules for Sleeping Around is a bedroom farce comedy set in on a weekend of a massive celebrity party hosted by Jeffrey Fields (Michael McKean). Ben (Chris Marquette) is talked into suggesting a threesome with his long term love Kate (Tammin Sursok) by his best friend Vince (Jesse Bradford), which Kate blows off but see it as a sign the relationship is struggling. Meanwhile, Vince is apparently in an open relationship with partner Cameron (Virginia Williams), who is using Kate's summer house in the Hamptons to conduct a weekend romp with the much younger Hugh (Reid Ewing). A series of misunderstandings leads to Kate desperately going after Cameron to alert her of Vince, who Ben gave permission to use the summer house for his own weekend romp. Except, Ben has let a writer he is wooing to sign with his company use the house without Kate knowing. So, they end up at the summer house where a series of misunderstandings and sexcapades leads into the biggest party of the year. Or something. You know the drill with bedroom farces, lots of misunderstandings and comical situations, but is usually very hit and miss, mostly miss, as is the case with this movie. It's fun enough, but never really aims high. It's not all bad though...

Update for 19 September...

The Stranger Within is a Danish made although mostly set on a fictional Mediterranean island B-thriller about world famous actress Emily Moore (Estella Warren, OK, that's a stretch...) who is kidnapped and raped by a deranged fan after a triumphant showing on stage. The kidnapping is seemingly about a woman who died in Emily's house not long before, but also police save Emily, the kidnapper gets away. Some time later, Emily is encouraged to getaway to their island home by her psychiarist husband Robert (William Baldwin) as she is having trouble getting back into acting. One night, the couple are disturbed by a frantic knock on the door by Sarah (Sarah Butler), who is covered in the blood of her boyfriend who apparently died in a hiking accident. The couple help Sarah get back on her feet, but something is not quite right about her and Emily does not want her hanging around the house, particularly as she thinks Sarah is out to usurp her. Maybe Emily's just a little nuts... I love a B-thriller, mainly because every once in a while you come across a good one and The Stranger Within begins promising, but the third act is a complete write-off, absolutely terrible and makes little sense, particularly when things are set up and then completely abandoned later for a nonsensical ending. We never find out who the kidnapper is or what the relevance of the dead girl was. And why did Sarah inexplicably come back to the house after she was banished when it turns out she's not a stalker at all? Ugh... Hey, I totally watched this movie because Estella Warren was great in the over-the-top Blue Seduction and of course because of Sarah Butler from the I Spit On Your Grave remake and as you'll see below, not a lot to be disappointed about, particularly this frame of Sarah.

Just a quick note, I got this from a HD Web Download, which, while perfectly fine for watching (to a point), can be a pain in the arse for collage making because the bit rate of the video is down, so still image quality is less than Bluray or Bluray rip quality. This movie isn't perfect, but is not bad, but water scenes and fast moving scenes are real trouble. I've rejected some HD Web Downloads because of this and seeing as though this is the future, it's not looking good for the state of the collages (or videos). And, it is unsurprising that pirates have better standards than commercial outlets. Bah!!

A quick series today that I've been procrastinating about releasing for who knows why. I'd love to give a synopsis of Slightly Single in L.A., but the fact that I watched a movie with that title is way too much to begin with. Something about Lacey Chabert's character moving to L.A. so that she can live life without getting into a serious relationship until she meets an old friend, a rock star played by Kip Pardue, who's the type of bloke that only appears in movies, but of course she procrastinates until realising he's the one. Yeaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!! You know the reason why I capped it, that's enough...

Update for 13 September...

Let's head back to the scene of the crime.

I Spit On Your Grave 2 is an unrelated follow up to the original, this time starting in New York, where Katie (Jemma Dallender) is looking to be a model and decides to get a free portfolio through an ad. At the studio, she is predictably hassled into taking her clothes off, but walks away. One of the studio workers, Georgy (Yavor Baharov), takes a shine to Katie, so much so that one night he breaks into her apartment and takes photos of Katie while she's sleeping. When Katie attempts to fight him off, Georgy grabs her and rapes her also, he kills a neighbour who comes to her defence. After the deed is over, he panics, calls his brothers Ivan (Joe Absolom) and Nick (Aleksandar Aleksiev) to help him, where they drug Katie. She awakes days later while being raped by Nick, in a basement. After the requisite degradation, Georgy, who has taken a liking to Katie, attempts to clean her up, but she fights him off and escapes out a window and into a foreign land which turns out to be Sofia in Bulgaria. Apparently safe, the cops sends her off with a representative of the local woman's shelter, who turns out to be the boys' mother, who brings her back to the basement for more degradation. Eventually, the brothers leave her for dead in a trunk buried under the house, but Katie miraculously survives as she falls into the catacombs under the city. She stays in the catacombs while she gets better, then as she goes to the US embassy to go back home, something is dragging her back and that is revenge... The formula has well and truly been set by now and I Spit On Your Grave 2 is pretty much the exact same film as the first one except for location and the length of degradation against the victim, which seems longer and more tedious in this movie. In fact, there's barely enough time for revenge and this seems to have been rushed to keep the movie under 2 hours. This is just cashing in on the first movie, pure and simple.

Again, there's some quite nasty and violent activity against a woman in the videos below, so if you don't like it, fair enough, they'll be good wholesome stuff here soon enough... Also, if I ever here classical or opera music blaring from someone's house, I'm busting in and saving whoever's been tortured. That's what movies have taught me...

Update for 12 September...

A quick update with some lengthy nudity today.

Pawn Shop Chronicles is a series of stories that all end up interconnecting with one another via the dealing of a pawn shop run by Alton (Vincent D'Onofrio) and Johnson (Chi McBride). First up, Vernon (Lukas Haas) sells his gun because he's desperate for money, but he would need it for a robbery he was pulling with Raw Dog (Paul Walker) and Randy (Kevin Rankin), except Randy thinks Vernon stole money from him and he runs him down in his truck. Helped out by the mysterious The Man (Thomas Jane), Vernon gets his revenge on Raw Dog and Randy during the robbery of the local meth maker. Meanwhile, Richard (Matt Dillon) is on his honeymoon when he goes to the pawn shop for some quick money, but finds a ring for sale that was owned by his missing first wife. He abandons his new wife, gets some info on where the ring came from, which eventually leads him to a sex farm run by Johnny Shaw (Elijah Wood) where his missing first wife Cindy (Pell James) is still alive and is the number 1 woman of the sex farm. Richard attempts to get Cindy back but doesn't count on one thing. Also, Ricky Baldoski (Brendan Fraser) is an Elvis impersonator who is down to his last dollar and is about to have the worst show of his life until he meets the mysterious Virgil who'll give him everything he wants for his soul. Directed by Wayne Kramer, who directed two films I absolutely love in The Cooler and Running Scared, Pawn Shop Chronicles is in a similar vain, but feels more like one of those Tarantino knock-off from the mid to late 90s. There are moments that channel the out-of-this-worldly coolness of Kramer's earlier films, but sadly there's not enough of them to be a stand out film. Not bad, but just not up to that standard of The Cooler or Running Scared.

Update for 9 September...

An Australian film of sorts today.

Adore is a romantic drama set for the most part at a small beachside town about two women Roz (Robin Wright) and Lil (Naomi Watts) who are lifelong friends and neighbours who both have grown up sons and are without partners with Lil being widowed and Roz separated but friendly with Harold (Ben Mendelsohn). After some tempting, Roz begins an affair with Lil's son Ian (Xavier Samuel). When Roz's son Tom (James Frecheville) gets wind of it, he is angry, but decides to go after Lil who eventually reciprocates. Things go well for a while for the two couples, but the two women decide to end the relationships so that the boys can move on, which they do, although Ian is especially unhappy about this as he is very much in love with Roz. Tom moves to the city to take up a dramatic director position and falls for an actress/singer he casts Mary (Jessica Tovey), while Ian reluctantly goes after Hannah (Sophie Lowe). But, there is that lingering sexual tension from the summer that won't seem to go away. Directed by French director Anne Fontaine (Nathalie..., Coco Avant Chanel), Adore feels very much like a French movie set in Australia and I can't think of a similar Australian movie off the top of my head, although possibly those Bob Ellis movies from the 80s are close (Warm Nights on a Slow Moving Train and the ones he wrote for Paul Cox come to mind). And this is part of the problem, Adore just doesn't feel right, like it's out of place in it's surroundings. Plus the fact that movie jumps significant periods of time without any real change in the setting doesn't sit right either. Surely, people change appearance over a ten year period. It's an interesting attempt at something a little different as the whole older woman falls for younger man isn't often explored, but as I said, the movie just doesn't feel right and I'm not completely sure why.

Update for 4 September...

Here we go again.

The Look of Love is a bio-pic about London entrepreneur Paul Raymond (Steve Coogan) whose main business was sexualised entertainment. In the 1950s, along with his wife Jean (Anna Friel), they set up theatrical entertainment with nude women which does a roaring business, even if the critics and the morally outraged are against him. Then he auditions 'Amber' (Tamsin Egerton) and falls instantly in love with her, so much so that he leaves Jean and his two children to be with Amber. Raymond moves into erotic publishing with Amber, now renamed Fiona Raymond who becomes the lead sexual correspondent for his magazine Men Only. But, Paul has an insatiable hunger for women and lots of them and while Fiona enjoys the female company Raymond brings to their bed at first, she tires of it over time. Meanwhile, Raymond's ever faithful daughter Debbie (Imogen Poots) is kicked out of her boarding school and he discovers that she can sing, a bit, and designs a show for her, but it fails and their relationship wavers from there as Debbie struggles to find her way and enjoys quite a lot of cocaine. Bringing back director Michael Winterbottom and star Steve Coogan, who combined for the excellent bio-pic 24 Hour Party People (although they have worked on other projects together between time, mainly with Coogan playing a version of himself), The Look of Love isn't quite as satisfying, interesting or as funny as Party People, but is a very different beast. While it has laughs, the movie is more about the very complicated relationships he has with the various women in his life, leading with the tragic relationship he has with his daughter. This is a pretty solid effort and I'm glad that it's a different movie to Party People. And of course there's some excellent nudity in movie including from site fave Tamsin Egerton (Keeping Mum, 4.3.2.1).

Update for 3 September...

A quick update today.

Jayne Mansfield's Car is a drama set in the 60s that takes place after the death of the matriarch of two families, one in America and one in Britain. The two families have never met before now and both are very different, but over the week they will find that each family isn't that far apart and that they actually get along better than they thought they would. Co-written, co-starring and directed by Billy Bob Thornton, who with his writing partner Tom Epperson wrote the excellent One False Move, but this movie, even with an excellent cast, just doesn't hold the interest and at over 2 hours, just drags and drags. But I do like that Robert Duvall's character has an insanely good knowledge of how car accidents happen, which bizarrely gives notice to the title of the movie in a scene that must be seen to be believed, right down to a mannequin head in the car to illustrate what happened!?!
