Nudity in new Australian movies
Haven't capped many new Australian movies recently mainly because there hasn't been many released and the ones that were didn't really have much to capture. There was The Royal Hotel which had a little bit of nudity from Alex Malone in a small role but the two female leads were North American actresses. There's also been nudity in Australian movies from international actresses like Saoirse Ronan in Foe and Melissa Barrera in Carmen but very little from Australian actresses. Even the examples below have caveats. At least TV and streaming have picked up the slack a fair bit.
First up is a rare Australian exorcism movie Godless: The Eastfield Exorcism which is loosely based on a true story that I remember happening in country Victoria. Basically a woman (Georgia Eyers) is playing up and her husband thinks she needs an exorcism but he can't get one until she is considered sane by a psychiatrist but that is hard to come by. So the husband calls up a renegade preacher who is willing to do it. Strangely this movie doesn't go for spectacle and feels more like a warning about the dangers of performing an exorcism. It's definitely not The Pope's Exorcist, The Exorcist: Believer or even the other Australian exorcism movie released earlier in the year The Possessed, which is a very strange but a surprisingly interesting movie with a sense of humour.
There's a scene in Godless where the possessed character played by Georgia Eyers starts dancing naked in the backyard until her husband discovers her and takes her back inside. Turns out that a body double, Thalia Laughlin, was used and the double shows quite a bit of nudity both full frontal and her bottom.

Next up is the Australian/New Zealand Indigenous portmanteau movie in which a bunch of Aboriginal and Maori filmmakers tell short stories of their or their forbear's oppression over the years.
In an early story, there's some native nudity from Natassia Gorey Furber and Audrey Martin as they play a family that comes across a drunken white man looking for his missing wife. Both show their breasts although it's either from a distance or slightly covered. Natassia could have patches over her nipples, it's hard-to-tell.

Finally is the 'old people are creepy' horror movie Saving Grace where a young woman (Kirsty McKenzie) who's experienced a tramautic incident while caring for her mother decides to take a job on a remote island looking after an elderly lady who has been catatonic since she witnessed her sister's death. Of course the elderly woman does weird things while her carer is not around. There's also a caretaker on the island who's also creepy, mainly for the carer. Pretty stock-standard stuff.
There's sort of a nude scene where Kirsty is in the bath and is almost drowned by the catatonic elderly lady. You don't really see anything but you almost do. Ah well...

While 2023 has been surprisingly quiet for nudity in Australian/New Zealand movies, there's actually been quite a number of nude scenes as catalogued on the 2023 page. There's 38 actresses listed on the page so far and there's still a month and a bit to go plus there's always spillover years later. I haven't even started going through any short films yet. Seems like it's been a fairly good year for nudity from Australian/New Zealand actresses.
