Still going with the pre-johnnymoronic.com reduxes, these ones capped in 2005 and about as random as ever. Pretty sure I only capped S.F.W. because it was on TV at the time and I was trying out my brand new capture card and watching that movie again, it is very 90s, feels Civil War dated in its expose on celebrity, yet it's only 20 odd years old (as to the previous post about Natasha Gregson Wagner regularly turning up in movies I watch, she appears in S.F.W.). And the Steven Seagal movie Into The Sun is completely random as it might be the last movie he made that I have watched and I probably only capped it because Juliette Marquis of This Girl's Life was in it. Not sure why I capped The Notebook, don't usually watch those movies, but the Bluray has some great extended sex scenes on it that I have below. Not the first Nicholas Sparks movie to have some extra stuff to cap (see also The Longest Ride). As there's usually a sex scene between the two lovers in his movies, I wonder if there are more extended sex scenes.

Redux for 27 October...

More pre-johnnymoronic.com reduxes as I don't have much ready in regards to new stuff and a series I was working on went bad, so I've pushed this update up a day or two.

Another Day In Paradise is Larry Clark's second film after his debut film Kids and it's violent thriller with a hint of the stuff he was doing in Kids and of course his trademark lingering on young bodies, I mean the film opens with a shot focused on Vincent Kartheiser's pubes, so you know exactly where you are from frame one. It's an OK movie, better for some patented James Woods sleaze, but it's an odd mix of styles and I don't think genre is Larry Clark's thing but this is the Tarantino era, so these movies were an easy greenlight. Natasha Gregson Wagner used to turn up in movies all the time in the late 90s/early 00s, but I haven't seen her in anything new for years despite working regularly. 100 Girls is a movie about a young college student who has amazing sex with an unknown woman in an elevator that has broken down, so he goes about find her in an all-girl dorm by her leftover underwear and during the journey become finely attuned to what women what or something, this movie is full of shit. His 'soulmate', who he recognises as having small breasts turns out to be... Emmanuelle Chriqui, say what? She does not have small breasts. Anyway, this movie had a follow-up called 100 Women which is pretty much the exact same movie, but the women are slightly older and the hero gets to choose between two women. And I thought that movie was full of shit too...

Redux for 22 October...

More pre-johnnymoronic.com reduxes for the weekend. First up is the sex comedy Speaking Of Sex from the director of Wild Things and I've gotta admit, this seems like a step down as I'm pretty sure this was released straight-to-DVD here, even with Bill Murray basically reprising his role from Wild Things (sadly not, that would've been the only thing memorable from Speaking Of Sex). Murray and director John McNaughton must be friends because Murray was also in Mad Dog and Glory (but bizarrely not in his first movie, Henry: Portrait of Serial Killer). Anyway, this movie takes a very juvenile look at a sexual harassment case, basically everyone is getting horny over the details of the case and of course it ends in farce. Long forgotten and deservedly so. Saved! is a comedy about a heavily religious girl (Jena Malone) who goes to a very religious school and after she finds out her boyfriend is gay, goes about making sure and ends up pregnant, which leaves her an outcast with her high school clique. Light stuff, but pretty fun from that period where I just capped everything that Mandy Moore was in, so there's a number of series featuring Mandy, but strangely nothing since Because I Said So which is nearly 10 years ago. Wonder why I went off her...

Update for 20 October...

New Australian movie for today's update and it's...

Cat Sick Blues is a serial killer horror movie where Ted (Matthew C. Vaughan) has begun dressing up as a cat and killing women after the death of his cat Patrick. He also behaves like a cat and kills his victims like a cat with his own set of sharp claws plus the final piece of his outfit, a very nasty looking strap-on cat penis. Claire (British actress Shian Denovan) is the owner of a cat named Ingrid, who is the star of a very popular series of YouTube videos Claire and her friend make, but since Ingrid got injured, the videos have been lacking. One day, she lets an Ingrid fan in to see her, but in a scuffle, he kills Ingrid and rapes Claire and her life goes into disarray. After killing his favourite webcam model, Ted sees a video of Claire being raped which was uploaded online and he begins to follow her. Instead of going to a rape counsellor as suggested by her mother, Claire goes to an animal grieve meeting. Ted follows her in and asks her out and they have sex. Ted keeps on killing, first the grief counsellor then four backpackers and when news about the backpacking killers reaches Claire, she figures out that Ted is the killer and she becomes paralysed by fear that he may come after her. Ted reaches his goal of killing 9 women after slaughtering a prostitute and believes that this will bring back Patrick from the dead with the help from Claire, but things don't go to plan for either of them. Well, Cat Sick Blues is one helluva movie. A very unique take on the serial killer genre that is completely weird and fairly disturbing and gory even with it's tongue firmly in its cheek. It's death scenes are quite something, mainly mirroring what a cat would do with some decent gore effects and the strap-on cat penis gets plenty of use, particularly during the backpacking killing scene. There's one sequence near the end that is absolutely bizarre and that's saying something considering what goes on before it, but to be honest, it felt tacked on and it should have been better used. This is one very odd movie, an unique take on a bloated genre and I enjoyed it far more than I ever thought I would. But, recommending it is another matter...

Update for 17 October...

It's been a while, but I still cap new movies.

Nerve is a thriller about a timid high school student Vee (Emma Roberts) who lives in the shadow of her best friend Sydney (Emily Meade). Sydney's new thing is an online game called Nerve which gives the participant dares to do for money and status in the game. She suggests that Vee should break the shackles and join the game, but she is too reluctant until Vee is rejected by the boy she likes and with her ex-boyfriend Tommy (Miles Heizer), she starts the game. During the first dare she meets Ian (Dave Franco) and they soon pair up in the game with the dares becoming more and more adventurous and then it gets serious when the two complete a dare of riding a motorbike at 60mph while Ian is blindfolded. Both Vee and Ian move up into the lead, closely followed by Ty (Colson Baker), a daredevil competitor who very much wants the top spot. Vee's success in the game infuriates Sydney as she isn't the centre of attention so she joins the game, but fails the dare because of her fear of heights. Vee and Ian come to the party at Sydney's house and Vee and Sydney get into a big fight, which is egged on by Ian as part of a dare. Vee has had enough of the game and what it is doing to her and her friends and tells a police officer, a big no-no and she must suffer the consequences of her snitching. Vee is given a lifeline, but the consequences are possibly dire and she going to need all the help she can get including from Tommy who attempts to shut the game down. Not the greatest movie and more than a little silly, but a fairly fun movie nonetheless. You could do a lot worse than this. Also, Emma and Emily playing friends again in a movie like they did 6 years ago in Twelve, bizarrely playing characters younger than they were in that movie...

I gotta be honest, I gave up on AmStarDam after about half-an-hour or so, which is rare for me to bail on a movie, but AmStarDam is an incredibly shit stoner comedy that's about some kid who goes and finds the father he has never met in Amsterdam who happens to run a failing weed shop and for spare cash does a transvestite show (oh, any more Amsterdam clichés). And of course being a stoner comedy, they end up making the greatest strain of weed ever. The first 40 minutes are not funny in the slightest and frankly embarrassing, so I didn't even bother with the rest. Not even any great sexy stuff either...

Redux for 14 October...

A couple of pre-johnny-moronic.com reduxes today, both in far better quality than what I had previously done. The Out Of Line stuff was taken from one of the regular midday movie showings it has, but I've copied it at least 3 or 4 times before and gotten on-screen graffiti ruining the side-boob scene every single time, but in its most recent showing, there was none which is why it's below. It was supposed to be a part of the next midday movie update, but that's been bogged down again. I've had the original fullscreen DVD of Prozac Nation which I initially capped it from sitting around for a while, but now I can't find it in the usual places. According to my original caps, you see a little more than you do in this HD widescreen version, but nothing much more. I'll have to fish it out.

Update for 9 October...

Back to the 90s this time for this stylish domestic drama from director Mike Figgis, who made a number of arty dramas through the 90s, early 2000s and seems to have dropped off a bit since, which is a shame. Another movie I hadn't seen before and is a pretty watchable movie although it's ending is one of those 'you wouldn't believe it if I told you' type endings which feels more comical than it should.

Quick one from the 90s, just something I've come across recently and remember seeing on video shelves back in the day and finally got around to watching it 20-odd years later. OK Christopher Lambert in Japan stalked by a ninja thriller. Not enough Joan Chen and no nude Yoko Shimada (at least Crying Freeman had that). I'll tell you a Joan Chen 90s movie I would love to cap in HD and that's Wild Side. Really loved that movie back in the day, both versions, even the studio cut version and of course that girl-girl scene with Anne Heche.
