That time of the week again and I'm just redoing some old videos from the early johnny-moronic.com period, all of which were either low quality or only slightly better. Sadly, I haven't found any of these movies in HD and they probably won't be, but considering what I've found recently (just check out last Sunday's redux update), who knows.

I went through a phase recently where I just looked up all my old series and attempted to find the DVD from my remaining sources so that I can redo the update, so this is where this update comes from. I found dozens, so there will be a few redux series to come. Most of these movies I haven't thought of in over 10 years, hell I couldn't have told you the plot to some of them, particularly Haven. But it all comes back when you flick through the movies.

Redux for 23 July...

More pre-johnny-moronic.com reduxes, this time in HD and if you thought that yesterday's were a mish-mash of the obscure, then have a look at today's update. I really just capped anything that I came across back in the day.

I always check my old caps to make sure that I have capped everything and maybe pick up on something I might have overlooked and I had a nagging feeling that something was missing from the Seven Girlfriends update and it turns out that the HD copy of the movie I have is a cut version as it's inexplicably missing a side-boob scene featuring Katy Selverstone. I rechecked the HD copy and it's not there, so I'm going to have to dig up the DVD version or something to cap that scene. I wonder why it's cut considering the more risque scenes from Laura Leighton and Jennifer Gibson remain untouched. Weird...

Haven't done any redux series in a while and I need to free up some space, so here's 3 series from the pre-johnny-moronic.com era. I capped Betrayal of the Dove and Dark Angel: The Ascent off their late night TV showings back in the VCR days, but both have been released on DVD here in Australia, which is strange for 90s B movies. I only made collages of Puerto Vallarta Squeeze when I capped it in 2005, so this is first time I've released videos from the movie.

Will probably do more DVD stuff over the next while as I've had some issues with making HD videos on my computer and it's only getting worse. Only absolutely necessary HD series will be done.

Update for 17 July...

Capped the first movie, Fifty Shades of Grey, so I might as well cap the second one. Watched Fifty Shades Darker about a month ago, but I can't for the life of me remember much about it as these movies are so mediocre. There's no stand-out scenes and this movie barely has much story momentum and there's little conflict between the two leads and the only 'earth shattering' moments are a persistent stalker (played by Bella Heathcote) and a low rent helicopter crash. The sex scenes are all rote and mechanical despite being billed as kinky. Sure these movies aren't made for me, but at least they could be something to write home about instead of the almost instantly forgettable movies they are. Bring on number 3...

Update for 8 July...

A couple of new Australian movies and yet again both have been released overseas before an Australian release. What else is new?

Skinford is a comedy thriller where Jimmy aka Skinny (Joshua Brennan) is forced to dig his own grave as he's about to be executed, but in the process he discovers a moving hand which he grabs just before a hitman shoots him. But, he does not die and ends up killing the hitman and finding out that the hand belongs to an unidentified woman (Charlotte Best). who's being buried underground. They both then survive a car bomb meant for the hitman after he completed the job. It looks like both Jimmy and the unidentified woman cannot die. Turns out that Skinny's supposed death was related to a truck that belongs to some very bad people who force him to give the truck back. We also learn that the unidentified woman is named Zophia, but her existence is shrouded in mystery and Skinny keeps her around as his 'good luck charm'. Skinny and Zophia track down the truck which turns out to have a dozen young women destined to be trafficked by a despicable crime lord also 10 year-old girl Kovak (Coco Jack Gillies) and one of the trafficked girls is Skinny's ex Jaya (Kelly Paterniti) who they help escape, except that's not what happens. Now Kovak is extremely mad and wants to destroy Skinny and Zophia but how do you destroy someone who can't die. As they get out of another scrape, Skinny helps Zophia find out who she is and how she can end this madness she wants to end. Intriguing and very fun movie that has a few good laughs along the way. The story is pretty wild while not fully explained (possibly to be done so in a proposed sequel) and the villains are all very cartoonish, particularly the 10 year-old Kovak. While neither lead is a stand-out, the plot is doing most of the work and the story is what's best about Skinford. Bafflingly, all of the non-ethnic characters have a British accent which I can't explain as it's usually an American accent for obvious US sales reasons and the accents are pretty wild and sometimes strange, but it's not a big issue. Skinford is a pretty fun ride if you like a ridiculous crime comedy with a hint of the supernatural. And a major, MAJOR plus is Charlotte Best spends the entire movie in either singlet and panties (sometimes soaking wet and mostly with her nipples standing out) or improvised short dress and is also briefly naked and that ain't a bad thing in any way.

Skinford is actually available to watch as a web series on the Vice website (and has been since February, of course I only just found out about it), but it's only legally available in the US and France (go watch it if you can or know how to circumvent geolocation restrictions). So, I found a way around this to watch and screen capture it, so it's not perfect HD quality, but it's not bad at all. I did have some audio sync issues which frustrated my greatly because it took 3 days to finish this update and there's still some brief sync issues in one video below which I can't be fucked going back and fixing. I'll redo these videos when a better HD release of Skinford becomes available. I never have these issues when I'm capping from Blurays/HD Web Downloads or for my previous screen capture of the movie Dawn. Just so frustrating...

2:22 is a thriller about hot shot New York air traffic controller Dylan (Michiel Huisman), who is suspended after he caused a very close call between to planes that nearly killed 900 people (which happened at 2:22). Every day, Dylan notices every little detail of what's going on around him, it's what made him good at his job. This break from his job allows him to live a little and he ends up going to a ballet where he spies and meets Sarah (Teresa Palmer) and they instantly fall for each other also it turns out Sarah was on one of the planes that had the near miss, Dylan begins to notice that certain incidents in his life have began repeating themselves every day, culminating in the windows breaking at Grand Central Station at 2:22 every day. It seems that Dylan is inexplicably linked to Sarah, well they have the same birth date, but he doesn't know how and why. Sarah invites Dylan to the opening of an art show she has curated in which the artist is her ex-boyfriend Jonas (Sam Reid) and the show miraculously mirrors his own repeating events in his life that occur at Grand Central Station and Dylan loses it and becomes more paranoid, desperately trying to figure out why this is happening and what he finds out puts Sarah very much in the firing line. Can he save Sarah and/or himself? 2:22 is OK, but silly and needlessly complicated for a surprisingly straightforward movie. There's an interesting story going on here and watching Dylan try to work out why everything in his life is repeating is the best part of the movie, but once it gets down to the details, it starts to get wishy-washy and full of ridiculous coincidences, which is nothing unusual for movies of this type but nonetheless, it's still silly. Worth a look, but don't expect greatness.
