Oversight: Tushka Bergen part 2 - Hurrah, Hurrah
After yesterday's update on Tushka Bergen, I was made aware of a copy of the Spanish DVD of the 1998 Australian movie Hurrah by a reader of the site so now I can bring you my own collages and videos from the movie.
As I posited yesterday, Hurrah is a two hander where city boy Raoul (Marton Csokas) buys an abandoned farm in the middle of nowhere to get away from everything, mainly the horrific death of his girlfriend. His only company is his dog and the only animal remaining on the farm, a runaway donkey which has miraculously survived. Raoul survives on little and interacts with no-one but occasionally with his far neighbour who tells him that the previous owners died horribly and not by their own hand and to watch out for the jealous locals. One day, Julie (Tushka Bergen) comes walking down his driveway looking for help having crashed her car outside his place. Turns out that there isn't much wrong with the car but Julie is insistent on staying the night at his place, which he agrees with. The next day Julie leaves reluctantly having hit it off with him and Raoul goes off for a night away from the house with his dog. When he arrives back, he finds Julie is back and he agrees to let her stay for a while as she seems to be running from something. Over time, they become closer while an outside threat lingers. They finally have sex but Julie tells Raoul that she doesn't want to fall for him and that he can 'love her body, but not her' but of course they end up falling for one another. This causes Raoul to confront the unknown threat which he thinks is from the locals but they it turns out they are just shitheads. Everything seems to be in place for Raoul to be with Julie but then we find out why Julie is there and let's just say that it's something to do with the alternate title, Heaven Sent.
The movie is basically about two broken people who find one another and bond over avoiding their own issues until the final 15 minutes where a bizarre and badly explained twist is added to bring life to a relatively lifeless movie. Not much happens and when it does it's pretty predictable although the sex scenes liven up things. The movie seems to be heading towards an inevitable confrontation with the unknown threat on a motorcycle but then there's a twist into something I don't fully understand. I think it's something like his dead girlfriend sent Julie to Raoul to help him get over her death although Julie could be his dead girlfriend reincarnated, I don't know. Also Raoul may have accidentally killed Julie, I don't know...
There's some decent nudity from Tushka in the movie, a couple more scenes that featured in the caps I posted yesterday. In yesterday's update, I wrote about the movie being rated R18+ initially and after watching the movie, the sex scenes are definitely not that explicit or lengthy. No idea what was going on there, possibly a more conservative censor looked over the movie. It was rightfully reviewed down to the MA15+ rating.
Would love to see a local copy of this movie available or even in HD but considering the movie doesn't seem to have got a distributor, I doubt we'll see it turn up on Bluray or a streaming service. There's hope in that the self-distributed Summer Of Love found it's way onto Amazon Prime (but sadly not the producer's other movie Maslin Beach), so never say never.
Another 'lost' movie I can tick off as being found.

Previous information regarding the movie Hurrah from the 4/7 post:
Tushka's best nudity comes from the 1998 Australian movie Hurrah aka Heaven Sent which I can't say much about because I've never seen it. It seems to be a two hander between Tushka and New Zealand actor Marton Csokas set in the Australian country. The movie was apparently released in Australia but I never saw it listed in cinemas at the time and I have my doubts it even got a release on VHS here in Australia (DVD didn't start in Australia until late 2000). The Australian Classification site has two listings for the movie, both under Public Exhibition which means it's for cinema showings which may have happened in one city in Australia (there's quite a number of examples of Australian movie only being released in Sydney cinemas). Interestingly, Hurrah was initially rated the harsher R18+ rating, a rarity for a movie listing 'Medium Level Sex Scenes'. 8 months later it received a lesser rating which suggests that the distributors were planning a release but got cold feet on the R18+ rating.
As I said, the movie is near impossible to find in Australia and even collectors of Australian movies have come up short. Reviews on IMDB suggest it did get a video release in Australia but I never saw it and the classification database suggests it was self-released suggesting a very limited release. But there was one shining beacon in the mid-2000s when the movie turned up on DVD in Spain under the title Enviada del Cielo (literally Heaven Sent in Spanish). And that is how the only videos of the movie have been made available. I can't remember who exactly made them but I know who they are and their name is on the tip of my tongue. I'm pretty sure their screen name started with a G (edit: It was Gunde). I'm not sure they still linger on the boards as I don't linger myself but there were pretty prominent back in the day. I have included collages made from the videos by German capper STARBASE, who's long gone from the scene, as a guide as to what's to be seen. I won't post them here but you can easily find one and only version of the videos at the usual sources.

Would love to get a hold of the movie. Definitely one of the Holy Grails.

Time to do a bit of a dive into the career of Tushka Bergen, probably best known as an international actress more than an Australian actress but her early career is all Australian. She had early roles in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome as one of the older children and TV series like Always Afternoon and Tanamera: Lion Of Singapore before getting the lead female role alongside Jeff Fahey in the 1988 rancher drama Minnamurra (also known as The Wrangler/Outback/whatever you want). Tushka then went to Germany and appeared in a bunch of German TV shows before branching out into international productions like Swing Kids and Barcelona. She would also turn up on American and British TV. Tushka would later return to Australia to make three further movies (and the 1999 mini-series Journey to the Center of the Earth), the misjudged 1996 kidnap comedy/drama Turning April, where she has a nude scene from an incredible distance, the 1998 movie Hurrah and the 2003 Melbourne Cup carnival comedy flop Horseplay, which I remember more for Abbie Cornish just before she broke out.
Today I'm going to focus on a couple of movies where she had nude scenes. First up is the 1995 drama Voices From A Locked Room aka Voices, a British psychological drama based on a true story where Tushka plays an American singer who goes to Europe and falls for a British composer/critic (Jeremy Northam) who turns out to schizophrenic and living a double life which Tushka's character attempts to understand.
I remember seeing this movie being available on VHS back in the day (although I didn't see it) but it doesn't seem to have become available on DVD. But the movie has turned up on US Tubi and that is where I have made the collages and videos from. It's fairly decent DVD quality videos, better quality than anything else I've seen (you can see a VHS collage of Tushka's nude scene in the images on the IMDB page for the movie, which has snuck onto the page). In the movie, Tushka has a sex scene where she's taken from behind and we see her bottom. Later, she gets up out of bed and walks over the the window naked where we see her bottom and brief looks at the side of both of her breasts as she puts on a gown.

Information regarding the movie Hurrah has been moved to this later update.
I have also capped a couple of other movies starring Tushka, Barcelona and the 1998 TV drama Invisible Child. I'm not sure of others but I'll keep a look out for more.

Tushka's last credit is Horseplay but interestingly this is under her self-penned bio on IMDB:
The show For All Mankind is from 2019 but she isn't credited on IMDB with being on the show although that doesn't mean she wasn't in it. Interesting to see more from her.
