Update for 30 August...

Finally recapped this movie Pumpkin, which I first capped 19 years ago but is now finally on the site and in HD. Amazingly both Amy Adams and Melissa McCarthy are in this movie in very small roles. Amy during her early 2000s period of being typecast as a bitchy high school/college girl. Watching this movie it becomes clear quickly that there's no way this movie would be made in the same way. There's some seriously dicey moments in this movie about a sorority girl who falls for a disabled boy. Not surprised it's pretty much forgotten.

Update for 28 August...

Last week I capped a whole bunch of New Zealand short films and I mentioned I was going to cap some New Zealand movies. Anyway, here's a couple of very dark kitchen sink dramas from director Gregory King.

A Song of Good is a 2008 drama where Gary (Gareth Reeves), who lives with his sister Rachel (Danielle Cormack). his father Ron (Ian Mune) and her son. One day he breaks into a house and when confronted with the resident, ends up raping them. Gary is shocked by what he's done so he goes about trying to go straight including getting a job as a burger joint. But it becomes increasingly hard for him to escape his past. A more 'polished' effort than Christmas but definitely still a whole lot of depression porn. It does have an interesting ending though that almost redeems it.

Christmas is a 2003 drama where Keri (David Hornblow) reluctantly comes for Christmas to his family with all his siblings still living at home with their parents. They all have their own issues like an eldest sister who lives with her two children and partner in the basement and obsessively cleans the house to avoid dealing with her shitty drunken partner. Another sister who's pregnant and doesn't know what to do about it. A brother who's a total dopehead and parents who just seem to be together because they don't know what else to do. Keri himself is broke and owes money to a number of people plus there's something wrong with his arse which looks nasty. Things slowly build to breaking point and there's always the feeling that something real bad is about to happen. Very much in the genre of depression porn where nothing good ever seems to happen but a certain tension does build giving an overall feeling that something is going to explode at any moment. There's even some funny moments throughout but how you deal with the grungy feel of the movie will go a long way towards whether or not you'll like that movie. I enjoyed this a bit more that A Song For Good, but it's super depressing which I kinda like. And you can tell it's not American movie as if it was, it would've ended with someone killing the entire family. So that's a relief I guess...

Update for 25 August...

Last week I recapped a movie starring Spanish actress Natalia Verbeke and then looked at what I've capped of her and realised that there were quite a few movies I thought I'd capped but it turns out I haven't. So here's 3 more movies featuring Natalia where she has a nude scene including her second ever movie Nadie Conoce a Nadie which I first capped off an SBS airing back in October 2002, almost 20 years ago. But I haven't capped it again until now and only off a very old DVD so maybe one day it'll get a HD release. The movie is also features an early role for Paz Vega.

I will say that while I capped Les Femmes du 6e étage in HD, the version I found is dubbed in Spanish even though the movie is French so one scene below features a dubbed soundtrack.

There are still more movies that Natalia has nudity in. Hopefully I'll capture them soon.

Update for 22 August...

A couple more short films from New Zealand that I didn't get around to releasing yesterday. Some good albeit dark nudity from Step Dave actress Maya Wyatt in Therese, a bizarre little giallo influenced drama about a girl haunted by her crush's death. There's two version of the movie, this is taken from the 27 minute extended version although the 14 minute cut has all of the below scenes with slightly different edits.

Also below is another 90s short film, this time Planet Man which has some good nudity from Katie Wolfe who had a nude scene in another short film (La Vie En Rose) and also in the movies The Irrefutable Truth About Demons and The Last Tattoo. Hopefully it comes available in better quality.

Update for 13 August...

A new Australian movie for the weekend update.

The Dunes is a thriller where Nicholas (Martin Copping, also writer/director) is an Australian who is working as a reporter for the L.A. Times and married with a kid but is unfulfilled by the job. Then two things happen. The renter of his old family home has scarpered without notice and his elderly father (actually Robin Copping of Hexagon Films fame) has had another fall. So he decides to come back to Australia and after visiting his father, he heads back to his home town of The Dunes. He finds not much has changed and he asks an old friend Misty (Jacinta Stapleton, strangely uncredited) to tell his old girlfriend Beccy (Maria Volk) he is back in town. Meanwhile while lazing at his house and remembering a childhood incident, he gets a knock at the door from William (Tim Phillipps), whose car has broken down. He helps William but then he can't get rid of him and he ends up drinking with him despite giving up alcohol. Then William stays the night. He finally gets rid of him and gets a local Indigenous gardener Oracle Sam (Gregory J. Fryer) to clear the backyard but he refuses to, saying that something bad has happened there but Nicholas can't think of anything bad ever happening at the place. Beccy comes to visit and while they are outside a rancid smell overcomes them and they check it out and find a dead body barely covered in the yard. After calling the police, who are unhelpful, Nicholas and Beccy become close and then guess who comes knocking at the door again? William, and he's planning on sticking around one way or another.

Slow burning thriller that takes forever to get going and when it finally does the movie becomes interesting but not enough to save it. Get the feeling this movie would've worked better as a 60 minute movie as there's so much repetition, particularly of two scenes which seem related but turn out are only related in a tangential way. The ending is a bit hollow and the motivation for what happens more than a bit flimsy. The only interesting character is William which is great and all but NIcholas is on screen for the entire movie and he's boring, spending quite a lot time sleeping or remembering his childhood. It's not all bad but a tighter movie might've been the go here.

Interesting to see Maria Volk turn up in this movie as she's been in America for a while. She has a brief nude scene here, the scene itself is quite long and in context plays very differently to what you'll see below. I also remembered that she had a nude scene in a short film that was going to be a part of portmanteau movie but I couldn't remember what it was until I remembered that Anton Yelchin was in it. Turns out that The Apprentice was supposed to be a part of Movie 43, that absolutely terrible comedy movie but word is that this segment was too spicy for that movie. Anyway, Anton Yelchin plays a morgue assistant who has to tend to a dead body who turns out to be a beautiful woman (Maria Volk when she was going by her real name Marsha Vassilevskaia). And well, we decides to fuck her and she comes back to life. It's pretty spicy but have you seen Movie 43? What's too spicy? Anyway it features Maria's best nudity to date (she was also naked in the American movie The Basement).

Another couple of new movies including a movie starring, written and directed by Katie Holmes also a dark thriller featuring Kelli Garner who I quite like but haven't seen in anything for quite a while. I think Horns was the last movie I saw her in and that was 8 years ago.

A new release where I can't help myself and take way too long capping it. An OK movie that treads a similar line to the excellent Dead Calm but doesn't quite stick the landing. Some good nudity from Ella-Rae Smith and plenty of bikini action. The large video is a distillation from the last 45 minutes of the movie.

Update for 6 August...

Strangely the almost forgotten 1993 New Zealand movie Jack Be Nimble got a Bluray release recently. Also looking at a recent Australian 'exploitation' release.

Jack Be Nimble is a supernatural thriller where young kids Jack and Dora are forced into adoption after their mother has a breakdown when she finds out her husband is cheating on her. Jack and Dora are separated with Jack sent to a harsh rural family with four almost identical daughters and Dora is sent to a loving family. Things then take a turn for the worse for the both of them. Jack (the sadly deceased American actor Alexis Arquette) is horribly beaten with barbed wire by his adopted father (Tony Barry) while Dora (Sarah Smuts-Kennedy) is bullied at school and when she fights back, a bully pushes her off a wall, putting her into a coma. When she wakes up, Dora starts to hear voices and is able to talk to people telepathically. When Jack's parents find out he's failed, they lambast him but he fights back by unleashing something he worked on at school; a machine that hypnotises people. He manages to hypnotise his father and mother and gets them to kill themselves. He then runs away. Dora is frustrated by the non-stop voices she hears until she meets Teddy (Bruno Lawrence), who is also telepathic and helps her control the voices. Dora falls for him and they begin a relationship but she also starts to hear Jack's voice and convinces Teddy to help find him which they do. Dora is rapt Jack is back in her life but Jack is angry at the world and the hand that he has been dealt and he unveils his dark side when they go looking for their biological parents. Also, Jack's mother's spirit goes looking for Jack and uses her four daughters to exact revenge on him.

After starting as a depressing drama about two kids dealt a bad hand in life, there's a sudden sharp turn into the supernatural horror genre. And this turn makes the movie surprisingly watchable considering how it started. Jack is incredibly angry at life and some of his actions are quite nasty particularly one scene at a diner. Dora is also an interesting character and works well with the angry Jack but the movie doesn't give them the satisfaction of a happy ending that was supposed to happen when they are reunited. The movie reminded me a lot of Heavenly Creatures in that they both have a similar vibe about them although plot wise they veer off into different directions with this movie more fanciful. Also this movie is memorable for the amount of messy hair all the girls have. A surprising decent genre movie that'll hopefully get new life on Bluray.

Musclecar is a 2017 'exploitation' thriller where wannabe filmmaker Bambi Steele (Jacinta Stapleton) is trying to buy a certain type of American muscle car, a 1968 V8 Dodge Phoenix, which is going to be the main 'character' of her movie. She's awaiting the money to make the movie and is hoping to get it tomorrow but she wants the car now. She goes with her brother Buck (Matthew Blackwood-Hume) to look at one and Bambi falls instantly for the car and buys it despite not having the money. She lavishes attention to it then the next day is given the bad news that the funding for the movie is not forthcoming. The cast and crew drown their sorrows at the pub when a drunk is thrown out of the bar and into the path of a drunk driver and is killed but no-one wants to deal with it. But Bambi comes up with an idea and gets her brother to take the body back to her garage where she slits the deceased throat and funnels the blood into the tank of the car where it surprisingly takes the blood and runs perfectly. Meanwhile Randy (Tai Scrivener) takes a shine to Bambi particularly after he is told by her brother that she is a stripper. Bambi is kind of interested but she sees Randy as more of a useful idiot and gets him to rustle up some drunks so that Bambi can drain them of their blood for the car. Bambi continues to string Randy along to get more sacrifices for the car and Randy starts going after members of the film crew. The car outgrows it's engine so Bambi gets Randi to get an ox heart to make it run even better but then the car becomes hungrier so thankfully Randy becomes more murderous. Can Bambi get the most powerful car imaginable and will Randy finally get to have sex with Bambi?

Interesting idea but runs into numerous road blocks it doesn't handle well including one incredibly stupid idea involving the car becoming HIV+ which is worse than you can imagine. I think this movie needed to be more sleazy and violent but it is obviously inhibited by it's small budget which can be seen by a fair amount of the plot told via comic strip and some clunky action scenes. Some of the plot makes no sense, not helped by some characters coming out of nowhere. Stapleton has the right look for the role and is a good get for a low budget production with a mostly no name supporting cast but most of her sexy stuff is done in the comic book strip except for one strange attention lavishing scene. It's rare to say that a movie should be more outrageous but that's definitely what would've made Musclecar a better or just a more memorable movie.
