Update for 30 July...

Capped Teressa Liane from The Reef: Stalked the other day and thought it had been a while since I've capped her, so I went looking around for anything else and found that this Australian movie was recently released. Basically a parody of Bond movies but set in Melbourne where a spy meets a vet after saving a dog and instantly falls for her and decides to quit being a spy. But he's dragged back in for one last case involving a villain named Trident (Teressa Liane) who used to work with the spy. Silly stuff and obviously limited by budget but not bad although the plot is very confusing. A nice sexy scene from Georgia Walters including a couple of nip slips, one where the other actor obviously sees it and covers it up... Also Georgia and Natasha Maymon (I highly recommend her nude scene from Rage) are dead ringers so it took me a while to work out who's who.

Update for 17 July...

Haven't had time to find an Australian Classic this week but a new Australian movie was released.

How To Please A Woman is a comedy where 50-something Gina (British actress Sally Phillips) isn't feeling respected at her job and isn't getting much love from her husband (Cameron Daddo). On her birthday, a paid-for sex worker Tom (Alexander England) arrives at her door to have sex with her but she's not interested. He says she has him for a couple of hours and asks if he can do anything else and Gina gets him to clean the house with his shirt off. Turns out her friends at her early morning swim club Hayley (Hayley McElhinney), Monique (Tasma Walton) and Sandra (Caroline Brazier) got Tom for her to sing a sexy song for her but Monique didn't realise what the 'premium' package entailed. Also, Gina is involved with looking after the closure of a furniture moving business and it turns out that Tom works there too. Gina is then made redundant from her job and in the downtime she comes up with a plan to turn the closing moving company into a service where the men clean women's homes sexily, which Tom is fine with but the others are reluctant. It begins with a Tom having sex with a client which Gina is not happy about but after interest grows in the service at her swimming club, she allows this to continue. Things go surprisingly well and business picks up but things aren't going well at home with her husband. Then she gets friendly with the boss of the furniture company Steve (Erik Thomson) and maybe things will pick up there too or will they?

Fairly standard change of life comedy with the twist being that the woman starts a sex work practice that ends up making her life unexpectedly better. The idea of the business is a bit clumsy and it's never really delved into what everyone involved is doing, particularly one character who ends up being clumsily involved in a major plot point. The comedy is pretty obvious and it's nothing we haven't seen before but the movie is fine and fun for a certain audience and isn't overly sexual despite being about sex work. Not bad but I'm not really the audience for the movie.

Some brief nudity from Sally Phillips which was a surprise and also some very brief nudity from Tasma Walton that I didn't notice until I went back over the movie as she is off on the far left of the screen. There's also quite a bit of background nudity from extras in the somewhat numerous changing room scenes which you don't usually see in those types of scenes.

Update for 9 July...

Australian Classics offers up a couple of early 80s adult dramas.

...Maybe This Time is a 1981 drama about Fran (Judy Morris) who is about to turn 30 and has hit the wall in her love life and in her job. She works as a tutor at a university under Paddy (Mike Preston) but is unfulfilled. She's also in a relationship with a married political staffer Stephen (Bill Hunter) and seems to be leaning towards joining him in Canberra permanently until his wife Meredith (Jude Kuring) decides to make herself known and becomes unexpected friends with Fran. She decides to head back to her old home town for some respite and cops a dose of guilt from her mother about her being 30 and unmarried. Fran then meets old friend Alan (Ken Shorter) and starts going out with him but she really isn't into the relationship and he proves to be frequently inadequate. Fran heads back to Sydney and continues as a tutor and takes up with Paddy who seems great until she finds that he's sleeping with one of the students plus Stephen comes back into her life, newly divorced and wanting Fran back in his life. So, who will Fran choose? Frustrating and somewhat dated drama about a woman trying to be free but is constrained by society's norms and her own poor choices. Fran constantly bounces between men with great ease but she's never satisfied and moans about wanting to settle down even though she's clearly not ready to. It leads to a fairly predictable end which will probably continue the cycle in another country. Judy Morris was the queen of adult drama through this period, so she's well cast here and all the main male roles are well done but Fran is such a frustrating character that she's hard to get into and be on her side.

Breakfast in Paris is a 1982 romantic comedy/drama where Jackie (Barbara Parkins from Valley of the Dolls) comes home early from her high-powered job in fashion to find her husband cheating on her with the excuse that he doesn't find her feminine enough any more. She gets an offer to join her friend Marcel (Jeremy Higgins) in Paris to help with some fashion shows and decides to get away from it all for a little while. At the airport, Jackie bumps into photographer Michael (Rod Mullinar) who becomes instantly smitten with her but she's not having anything to do with men. Then Michael sits next to her in first class on the plane and she is livid with having to deal with a lovestruck Michael for the entire trip. She survives but then Michael keeps popping up wherever she goes and becomes a constant nuisance to her until Jackie finally relents and goes on a date with him. And it all goes well and they fall for one another. Then their relationship becomes complicated as Michael doesn't fit into her lifestyle and Jackie becomes alarmed when he proposes a future marriage. A to-and-fro occurs between them and it ends in a stalemate where Jackie goes back to Melbourne leaving Michael lovestruck in Paris. But she can't take her mind off of Michael and decides to make a dash back to Paris to be with him but can they really get it together? From John D. Lamond, more accustomed to sleazy/erotic movies like Felicity, Pacific Banana and Nightmares, this is strange mix of comedy and drama that doesn't really get it right. Michael basically stalks Jackie until she relents and goes on a date with him and it's played comically but isn't all that funny. Then the movie becomes a full blown melodrama, ditching the comedy completely for a will they/won't they romantic drama that becomes so tortured the inevitable happy ending almost doesn't seem like it's going to happen. The movie is a mess although both Parkins and Mullinar work well together and with a better script and let's face it, director, they might've salvaged something more than a funded trip to Paris for a few nice shots. If only most of the movie didn't seem like it was shot in Melbourne. The lack of French actors is also glaring. The movie isn't terrible like some of Lamond's other movies but he's clearly out of his depth here.

Capped ...Maybe Next Time off the Umbrella DVD which I got cheaply and it's alright quality considering. At least it made it to DVD. The same can't be said of Breakfast In Paris although Umbrella does have a love affair with Lamond's movies, just not enough of a one to give this movie a DVD release. The quality of VHS rip is pretty good though so can't complain too much.

Update for 7 July...

A new New Zealand movie although there's quite a bit of Australian backing too.

Nude Tuesday is a absurdest comedy told entirely in jibberish about a couple, Laura (Jackie van Beek) and Bruno (Damon Herriman) who are struggling after Laura had an affair and are both in desperate need of a refresh. Laura has a violent breakdown at work while Bruno cracks up at the supermarket. Bruno's mother gifts them a week away at a retreat to get things back in order and they reluctantly take it up. Turns out the retreat, run by Bjorg (Jemaine Clement), is a new age, highly sexual getaway where Bjorg is very hands on. Laura tries her best to get into the spirit but Bruno is having none of it and seems to attract the ire of everyone, not helped by the presence of Rufus (Ian Zaro) who Bruno lost his shit at when he cracked up at the supermarket. Bruno and Laura have a failed attempt at sex which leads to Laura falling into the arms of Bjorg but realises that hanging around him is probably not a good idea when she sees him spreading himself far and wide. Laura tells Bruno that she was with Bjorg and Bruno which he ends up taking it out on Rufus. Retreat mother Margaret (Yvette Parsons) sends Bruno and Rufus on a hike to work things out. Laura also goes on a walk and decides to leave Bruno while Bruno and Rufus muck around with a gun they find and then drink psychotropic tea which causes Bruno to find himself, in a way. Can they work things out as Nude Tuesday arrives? While the movie is deliberately strange, it's actually pretty easy to follow because it's subtitled like a foreign movie so it doesn't matter that it is spoken in Scandanavian-influenced jibberish. So the movie relies on jokes being told via the subtitles and there's a few that work fine but the movie isn't overly funny and is strangely familiar. Also for an absurdist comedy, there isn't a lot of crazy stuff save for when a couple of characters drink a weird tea but there are plenty of situations that seem wacky. An interesting try at something different, not wholly successful but worth a look. Apparently there's a different set of subtitles with different jokes but honestly, you'd have to really want to watch the movie again and I don't think I'm interested enough to do so.

Being a movie called Nude Tuesday, the final twenty minutes is set on Nude Tuesday where all the character strip completely nude. I decided to make a video for each actress which is crazy in hindsight but it's done now. A few actresses who haven't got nude before plus a few that have but have shown more here than ever before. An interesting mix all below.

A bunch of movies I've finally gotten around to capping. For some strange reason a scene in House Of The Dead 2 featuring Mary Ann Jarou being sprayed by a super soaker doesn't appear in the copy of the movie I have. I'm guessing that this is a Amazon thing as they always have the theatrical version of the movie, never the uncut. Not that it matters that much but still.
