Update for 29 January...

Being a bit slow on the movie side recently, so a quick one as I catch up.

Lily & Kat is a New York set drama about Lily (Jessica Rothe), a wannabe fashion designer who is currently working at a boutique has just received the worst news. Her best friend Kat (Hannah Murray) is moving back to London in 7 days after getting her dream job. So, no more hanging out at the cool places with Kat and she's not handling it well. Lily meets aspiring artist Henri (Jack Falahee) and they kind of hit it off, but she already has a boyfriend who treats her like a cheap fuck. What's a girl to do when her whole life caves in on her? Who the fuck cares? Maybe I've watched way too many privileged New Yorkers going through a rough patch movies lately, none of which prompting anything but contempt from me. Hard to feel sympathy for these characters especially when they treat everyone else like crap, one scene in particular after Lily was (deservedly) fired from her job is extremely irksome. I think I might avoid this 'genre' for a while...

Update for 25 January...

The Little Death is a comedy about various couples looking to spice up their sex lives. Maeve (Bojana Novakovic) confides in her husband Paul (writer/director Josh Lawson) that she fantasises about being raped, which takes Paul aback, but he wants to please his wife, so he goes about attempting to fulfill this fantasy in increasingly elaborate ways. Rowena (Kate Box) and Richard (Patrick Brammall) have been attempting to conceive a child for three years, but Rowena has never fallen pregnant. Nothing seems to be wrong with either, but then the doctor suggests that having an orgasm might improve their chances. When Rowena gets home, she finds Richard crying about the death of his father and it turns her on immensely and she has orgasmic sex with Richard. She then attempts to get Richard to cry in increasingly elaborate ways that will better their sex life and cause damage to their relationship. Dan (Damon Herriman) and Evie (Kate Mulvany) are going through a very rough patch when the counsellor suggest that they should try roleplaying in the bedroom. The first attempt works very well, in fact too well because Dan now has a passion for acting. Phil (Alan Dukes) is having a tough time at work, he can't sleep and isn't getting anything from his constantly nagging wife Maureen (Lisa McCune). When Maureen accidentally drinks his tea with sleeping pills in it, she falls asleep and the act of her sleeping turns Phil on, mainly because he doesn't have to deal with her. Finally, Monica (Erin James) is a deaf woman who works at a call centre that translates phone calls for deaf people. One night, Sam (T.J. Power) uses the service to have phone sex much to the horror of Monica. Oh, an there's a sex offender (Kym Gyngell) who manages to turn up in these couples lives at the most inopportune times. An erratically amusing movie that is definitely not for those squeamish about sex, particularly the more niche kind, but it has it's moments. The deaf phone sex call is by far the funniest and best part of the movie. The rest are a bit sporadic, but overall The Little Death isn't a bad little movie.

Update for 19 January...

Time to pick on poor little rich kids.

Affluenza is a drama set in the early days of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. Fisher Miller (Ben Rosenfield) comes to Long Island to live at his uncle and aunty's place while he tries to get into college to further his love of photography. Through his cousin Kate (Nicola Peltz), he is introduced to the other rich kids in her social circle and it helps that he has access to a primo stash of marijuana that the kids all want. He gets invited to all the parties, girls actually want him including Kate's best friend Jody (Valentina de Angelis). But over time it becomes clear that he is more and more out of his depth even as the financial bubble bursts and it starts to take effect. Another one of those rich kids are vapid and can't/won't interact with those lesser than them stories, this one ambles along with barely any plot and not a lot to say except the predictable. Watchable but ultimately fairly forgettable.

Trophy Kids is a drama where Max Wolfowitz (Ryan Eggold) desperately wants to be rich and famous and his latest venture funded by his father, a nightclub, is about to go bust. He then comes up with the idea to make a movie about his life, except he really doesn't know what he's doing. Across town, Reid Davis (David Gallagher) is an aspiring playwright who's struggling to get his first play off the ground and moves in with a friend when he gets kicked out of his latest house. Also moving into the house is Quinn (Tahyna Tozzi), who seems to dabble in many artistic pursuits without excelling in any and seems to be an enigma whose beauty is much admired, particularly by Max when he spies her at a party. Quinn introduces Max to Reid to help him write his script which he does reluctantly, but Max's plan are all over the place and Reid is finding it difficult to keep up. And it's becoming increasingly clear that Quinn will come between the two, but not necessarily in the way you might think. An absolutely baffling film that veers wildly off the road about halfway through and returns with a completely predictable ending. I have no idea what's going on for about twenty minutes of this movie which at least make the movie different because it was heading down that same boring path until it decides to plow into the crowd at 100 miles per hour and heads off into crazy town. I can't even explain it, it's that far off the range of anything rational or sane or anything. And then it continues on as if nothing happened! Heh!

Update for 14 January...

I Origins is a drama where Ian (Michael Pitt), a PHD student specialising in eyes meets a girl at a party with unique eyes which he photographs for his collection/study, has sex with her then she promptly leaves without ever telling Ian her name. He is also trying to prove once and for all that the Theory of Evolution is the correct theory and when his new lab partner Karen (Brit Marling) impresses him with her insight of his current study, he lets her see what he is trying to do. Ian becomes more fascinated with the girl with unique eyes which leads to a series of coincidence involving the number 11 that leads him to a billboard with the girl's eyes featured on it. He finds out that the eyes belong to Sofi (Astrid Bergès-Frisbey), who he tracks down and they fall in love and plan to get married, but a tragic accident results in Sofi's death. Ian and Karen fall in love and 7 years later they have their first child. When their baby has its eyes mapped, the eyes match that of another person, which is immediately scrapped and redone. Days later, Ian and Karen are contacted by a doctor specialising in autism and that their baby has shown symptoms of this. Their child performs a test where it choose between two images that are projected, but something feels off about the test, even moreso when the image of the person that came up in the mapping appears in the test. Ian checks this out further and finds that the person in the image died recently. Could it be that their child was the next life of this recently dead man? Impossible and against everything Ian and Karen believe, but when they trial the test with the pictures of eyes that Ian had taken over the years, only one match comes up and that is with a little girl in India. And they match with Sofi's eyes. Ian goes to India to find the girl and prove whether or not this girl in the next life of Sofi. Interesting premise, which is to be expected from the team of Mike Cahill/Brit Marling, whose previous film Another Earth also had a fascinating premise. While I still think that there is some bullshit to what is going on here, I was still fascinated by what was going on and the mix of science and philosophy/spirituality is far less prevalent in art in general nowadays. I've liked both of Cahill/Marling's films so far and hopefully they'll continue coming up with interesting, debatable concepts.

Update for 11 January...

White Bird in a Blizzard is a drama that starts in 1988 about Kat (Shailene Woodley), a teenage girl who is having a tumultuous relationship with her mother Eve (Eva Green). They once had a great relationship but as Kat has grown up, they've drifted apart and this has resulted in some peculiar and somewhat clingy behaviour from Eve. Even moreso when Kat begins dating neighbour Phil (Shiloh Fernandez). One day, Eve just disappears and Kat and her father Brock (Christopher Meloni) are left to pick up the pieces, except Kat doesn't seem that fussed about her mother's disappearance. She starts seeing a psychiatrist (Angela Bassett) and also starts sleeping with the detective (Thomas Jane) in charge of the investigation. Three years later, Kat comes home during a break in college, seemingly moved on, meeting her father's new girlfriend (Sheryl Lee), but it becomes clear that there are some unresolved issues. Oh, and what did happen to Eve? Bizarrely distant movie about an emotional issue that strangely turns emotional near the end only to get distant again for the reveal. The movie isn't necessarily about the disappearance of Eve so much as Kat's reaction to it, but she is mostly business as usual which leaves the movie quite flat. A strange movie that never seems to gather any steam or real insight into the issues. Maybe I'm missing something, but I felt very removed from the movie. Hmmmm...

Update for 9 January...

Honeymoon is a thriller about newlywed couple Paul and Bea (Harry Treadaway and Rose Leslie) who are to spend their honeymoon at Bea's remote family cabin. Things start off great for the couple, but after a warning to leave from the owners of the local restaurant, Bea is found naked in the forest later that night. Something is wrong with Bea as she now appears distant and does not know basic things about their relationship. She also has strange bumps on her thighs that she explains away as mosquito bites, but over time, Bea gets worse and seems to desperately try to be her former self, as if to remove suspicion, but only adds to it. What has happened to Bea and can she be cured of it before something horrible happens? Interesting little two-hander that is basically a retread of a very well-known sci-fi fable (if I say which one, it will give away the ending, but you might be able to gather what story by my description), but works on mainly due to its narrow focus and fairly good leads (despite them being British/Irish actors putting on American accents for an American movie, strange casting in hindsight). And I'm not convinced that is Rose Leslie during the nude scenes below as her face and the naked body never appear in the same shot in either scene. Possibly her as Rose has already done a nude scene in Game of Thrones, but no real conclusive proof here.

Update for 7 January...

A few things lying around that I finally decided to do.

She Wants Me is a comic drama about a screenwriter Sam (Josh Gad), who is writing his second movie after the moderate success of his first movie. He is writing it for his long-term struggling actress girlfriend Sammy (Kristen Ruhlin) and he is giving her the lead role, but after a drunken night out with the guys, his agent friend Max (Aaron Yoo) gets him a meeting with big name actress Kim Powers (Hilary Duff) who is very interested in the role. Now, he has to tell the love of his life that the role may not be hers, but he stalls. It doesn't help that she meets her ex-fiance, the impossibly handsome John (Johnny Messner) who Sammy then invites him to stay in their spare room. Sam's anxiety in telling Sammy causes a huge ruction in their relationship when he is finally forced to tell her with Sammy deciding to take a role on the other side of the country in New York, effectively ending their relationship. Sam finds it hard to move on and losing Kim Powers from his project doesn't help. And John is refusing to leave the place and is looking to get back with Sammy. How is Sam going to get Sammy back? And what does Charlie Sheen have to do with it..? OK movie about the anxieties of being a screenwriter writing for your muse and how it goes horribly wrong. Josh Gad is pretty good here, definitely less obnoxious than some of his other roles, but the cameos are sort of baffling, particularly Charlie Sheen handing out dating advice..?

Conception is an ensemble drama about a bunch of people in the moments before they conceive a child. There's a few couples that are actually trying to conceive then there are other where it's a complete accident. Ah, that's pretty much it. While the movie does get a bit repetitive and there's more focus on some couple than others, mainly the more interesting ones, it's never boring and at 80 minutes, it doesn't hang around.

500 Miles is a drama about Emily (Ebony Nave), a 17 year-old girl who runs away from her foster family when she is expelled for having drugs at school. When the car she takes breaks down, she ends up in a service station run by Shane (Pete Valley) who offers her the couch at his place. She refuses and ends up spending the night breaking into the service station toilets. She reluctantly takes up Shane's offer of the couch and Shane introduces her around tow including his sort-of girlfriend Michelle (Ashlee Jensen), but Emily is stand-offish and takes a while to connect with anyone including Shane. Just as Emily and Shane finally click, a series of events occur that will fracture their relationship and cause Emily to run away back into trouble. But, will this bond eventually bring them back together? OK little movie that wears its limitations on its sleeve, but even with some clumsy plotting, 500 Miles works fairly well mainly due to it's lead actress Ebony Nave who carries the role well for her first feature and a charismatic (although limited) male lead in Pete Valley. Worth a look if you're into those love will find a way stories.

Update for 6 January...

After Sunday's update, I found that I had another Britt Robertson as a trouble teenage girl movie lying around, so here goes.

Cherry is a drama about Aaron (Kyle Gallner), a freshman at college who isn't very good around women. After meeting his roommate, Wild Bill (D.C. Pierson) who couldn't be more unlike Aaron, he settles into college and including his elective, life drawing, where he meets Linda (Laura Allen), a mature student who takes a shine to him and offers to cook him a meal. At her house, he meets her 14 year-old daughter Beth (Britt Robertson) and immediately has a fight with her. But, over the evening, both mother and daughter come to like Aaron, although Linda calls over her on-off boyfriend Wes (Esai Morales) and Beth attempts to seduce him. Aaron's turnaround of luck with women continues when Darcy (Zosia Mamet) also takes an interest in him. A friendship develops between Aaron and the mother and daughter, but this creates problems with his college marks including in his accelerated class where he is struggling with his project. When his parents intervene with his life after finding out about his activities, this causes chaos that will change everything for everyone. A not too bad coming-of-age drama that works for the most part with a solid cast and an interesting story involving Aaron and the mother/daughter dynamic that could have taken the easy way out, but surprisingly doesn't. A much better and more believable movie than Ask Me Anything.

Just a quick note about the quality of the videos that I got from an iTunes download when it was on special as I was looking for another movie called Cherry. and this came up and I decided to get it as well. While the scenes below are in HD, the quality of especially the dark scenes is not great with some pixellation, but nothing unwatchable, just not perfect, what you usually get with web downloads/iTunes movies. I don't think this movie will ever get a Bluray release and it has never been released in Australia as far as I can find, so this will have to do.

Update for 4 January...

Ask Me Anything is a drama about Katie (Britt Robertson), a young girl who's decided not to go to college straight away, but take a year to make her next move, something her mother (Molly Hagan) does not approve of. She takes a job at the book store now run by Glenn (Martin Sheen), who turns out to have been in jail, so she is forced to quit by her mother and her beau Mark (Andy Buckley). But, Katie is too busy keeping her ever increasing list of men she is sleeping with happy. She has a boyfriend Rory (Max Carver), that she's only semi-interested in. There's Dan (Justin Long), an university professor who she's carrying out an affair with as he is about to get engaged. Then she gets a job as the nanny for the baby of Paul and Margaret (Christian Slater and Kimberly Williams-Paisley) and her only female friend Jade comes back to town (Gia Mantegna) and everything seems alright for the manic Katie. But, Katie's life is about to get more complicated with the death of her alcoholic father Doug (Robert Patrick) which sends her into a spiral that will have devastating consequences. One of those movies where they make sure the lead character has the most impossible life ever to make them look complicated. A lot of things seems to happen to force the plot along rather than have any real explanation as to why the are happening, particularly the out of nowhere nanny job and a male friend who only there to explain her 'mental problems', both utterly baffling, but nothing in this movie tops the most jarring, out-of-nowhere end to a movie I've seen in a long while, which has a real 'did I miss something?' vibe to it and asks more questions and doesn't really answer any. What just happened...? Well, at least there's Britt Robertson's first nude scenes, both of which are fairly brief, but great anyway plus plenty of scenes in underwear if you're just not satisfied.

Update for 3 January...

Had a request from some new stuff of Ana de Armas and I've had a bit of dig and here's what I've come up with. Not a lot around but some good stuff from Por un Puñado de Besos and only a cameo in Faraday (her entire role is below), but that movie does have Diana Gómez co-starring and she's always worth a look.

Update for 1 January...

Not another new year...

Marfa Girl is a drama about a bunch of characters living in the US/Mexican border town of Marfa. Adam (Adam Mediano) has just turned 16 and he has a cute girlfriend Inez (Mercedes Maxwell) who he really likes, his neighbour Donna (Indigo Rael) shows an interest in him, he has a teacher who's looking out for him, but there's also a border patrolman Tom (Jeremy St. James), a violent misogynist arsehole who makes trouble for him mainly because he has a raging hard-on for his mother and she won't reciprocate. Meanwhile, an art student only known as Marfa Girl (Drake Burnette) works her way through the town meeting various people including Adam and having sex with a multitude of men. Nothing much more than that although it will end in violence with Tom on the prowl. Geez, has it really been 9 years since Larry Clark's (Kids, Another Day in Paradise, Bully, Teenage Caveman, Ken Park) last feature length movie, Wassup Rockers. Marfa Girl ticks off the usual Larry Clark themes of teenagers making their way sexually, lots of philosophical thoughts that are possibly bullshit and occasional bursts of violence, so, you know exactly what you're getting again. This film sort of meanders about with no real plot until it's inevitable conclusion, not really having a point, but I was never really bored by it, but I don't think I'll be watching again any time soon.

Heh, I totally forgot that I've watched a couple of Australian movies in cinemas 3 weeks back and not only that, totally forgot that Johnny Moronic Capturing turned 13 on December 6 around the same time I watched those movies. Well, I've been a bit distracted by other things lately, that's my excuse anyway and I'm sticking to it. Anyway, I saw both Love is Now and the Turkey Shoot remake on the same day and well, neither movie is that great.

Love is Now is a romantic drama about a wannabe photographer (Eamon Farren) who meets a photographer (Claire van der Boom) and instantly falls for her, so he steals a ticket to a gallery showing to see her, gets kicked out but he's already impressed her enough and over the night they fall in love and decide to go on a biking holiday following a path the woman once travelled. They stop of to do some fruit picking but a spanner is thrown into their relationship when the head picker (Dustin Clare) takes a shine to the woman. OK romantic film that has a bit of Nicholas Sparks about it, particularly the ending, but never really reaches any heights and the relationship seems tenuous to say the least.

Turkey Shoot (was titled Turkey Shoot Reloaded, but they have gone with the original title, to their detriment) is a remake of the 1982 schlocky cult hit where a group of sport hunters play 'The Most Dangerous Game' with political prisoners, this time it's with death row inmates in a reality show format (very reminiscent of Death Race, not a good thing as readers of this site may know I despise the Death Race franchise. Still watch it though...). One prisoner (Dominic Purcell) is the next contestant, a government assassin who killed a ruthless North African dictator (Roger Ward in his undies...) or so he thought and has been framed with the massacre of women and children in the war that followed. He survives the first level and finds out he was set-up by the show's star hunter (Robert Taylor). A helicopter pilot (Viva Bianca) is told of this deception by the man who authorised it and interrupts the next game to rescue the prisoner who then goes about finding out who set him up and why. A rather humourless and unnecessary remake masquerading as a satire with a similar feeling to the recent Patrick remake. The original has it's charm, mainly it's well done special effects and violent scenes, but is otherwise embarrassingly bad. The new Turkey Shoot just feels like a run-of-the-mill thriller done on the cheap (like the original). Dominic Purcell being recaptured is barely shown and is only mentioned on the phone. Wouldn't you have a big set piece on how this happened? And amusingly Melbourne and quite obviously Melbourne to anyone who lives there, like me, is used to represent other places around the world. Flagstaff Station gets another run on the big screen after it's amusing use as a French subway station in The Killer Elite. A poor movie, but then, so was the original. No wonder I was the only one in the cinema...

For what you really want to know, well Claire van der Boom has two sex scenes, the first one you don't see anything but the second one you might (I know...), it's all quick cuts and shadowy although lit well. Definitely need it in slow motion, well more than it is. There's also a model played by Janini Milet (who's not Australian apparently) who takes off her robe and briefly shows her bum. In Turkey Shoot, Viva Bianca has a non-nude sex scene, something she mentioned on her blog, might be some side-boob, but I think that's being generous. There's also an Asian girl in her underwear at the beginning, not Ra Chapman (she plays the Japanese assassin), not sure who that is.

OK, it's that time again where I deliver the series I liked the most in 2014 (which includes stuff released in late 2013, but capped in 2014)

The list for 2014 is:
1. Natalie Hall in +1 (impressive lengthy nudity and a movie I really enjoyed too)
2. Adele Perovic in The Code (knew her from SLiDE with Gracie Gilbert who won last year and had some good nudity in this series)
3. Verónica Sánchez in La Montaña Rusa (Last series of 2014 and a shitload of nudity from the always reliable Verónica)
4. Margot Robbie in The Wolf of Wall Street (probably the most anticipated of late 2013 and didn't disappoint)
5. Emma Lung in Crave (long-time fave with some great nudity in this American movie)
6. Maia Thomas in Perception (some excellent nudity in this short film)
7. Paz de la Huerta and Katrina Bowden in Nurse 3D (Paz always delivers and does in spades here and Katrina while still hiding a bit is pretty good here too)
8. Caitlyn Folley in sxtape (excellent nudity from Caitlyn)
9. Katie Cassidy in The Scribbler (nice scene from Katie in this twisted little movie. Ashlyn Yennie's entire screen time nude worth noting too)
10. Elizabeth Rice in Buttwhistle (some good nudity from this underrated actress, but terrible movie)
Notable mentions:
Antonia Prebble in White Lies (first-time nudity from this Outrageous Fortune and it's soon to be shown prequel and some nice nudity it is), Emily Browning and Mia Austen in Summer in February (some great full frontal nudity from both girls although still baffled by the big deal about summer in February), Jessica Marais in Carlotta (some good nudity from her but also some pretty sexy costumes), Rebecca Ferguson et al in The White Queen (excellent nudity from Rebecca particularly that first episode), Emily Piggford in Hemlock Grove (epic nudity), Eliza Taylor in The November Man (first nudity, a tad disappointing, but definitely worth the wait), The Girls of Cat Run 2 (that first 10 minutes especially in nothing but nudity), Georgina Andrews in The Sculptor's Ritual (6 years delayed release but fine nudity nonetheless) and some great non-nude stuff from Jessica McNamee in Sirens, Philippa Coulthard in Secret & Lies, Georgia Chara in Wentworth and the girls of Home and Away (particular Jessica Grace Smith) and Neighbours.

2014 was a pretty fertile year it turns out, moreso on the movie side with over 200 movies capped, here's hoping 2015 is as good.

I hope everyone is using the tag search feature to find the series I've done of their favourite actress. It's a slight improvement on the site a long time coming and I hope it's making this maze of a site easier to navigate.

Keep enjoying the site, plenty more to come.
