Update for 29 January...

Another new movie this time a new Spanish movie Demonious Tus Ojos starring Ivana Baquero (Pan's Labyrinth, The Shannara Chronicles). Didn't watch it as I didn't have Spanish subtitles but the plot is pretty self-explanatory and a man who sees his half-sister (Ivana Baquero) on a porn site and decides to give up everything and come back into her life, but also spy on her, seduce her and control her. Lots of fun by the looks of it and some brief nudity from Ivana which is a major plus, but also a fair bit of underwear/bikini action throughout the movie.

Update for 26 January...

Two more new movies. The Tribes of Palos Verdes is a drama about a family that moves to California and then their family falls apart when the father cheats on his wife and then leaves. Not bad but a fairly depressing movie. Most Beautiful Island is a drama set over one day where a poor immigrant woman (Spanish actress Ana Asensio, also writer/director of movie) hustles her way through a day that ends in being offered $4,000 to be at a mysterious party which ends up being life and death. Movie starts off fairly straightforward and then takes a wild detour into a completely different and much more intriguing movie once it gets to the mysterious party. A nice surprise although it claims to be based on a true story, well... maybe.

Update for 24 January...

Another new movie.

Lady Bug is a thriller set mostly on a boat where after another bender, Lexie (Rachael St. Rose) hitches a ride on a boat she thinks is going to San Diego, so that she can see her children. Instead, she ends up in the middle of the ocean waking up next to a dead body of a woman who is/was the wife of the boat owner (Christopher Showerman). Stuck in the middle of nowhere with no way to get away, the boat owner attempts to persuade her that she is actually his wife which sort of works as Lexie pumps herself full of drugs that she stole. If a deranged psychopath in the middle of the ocean isn't enough, a hungry shark is lurking outside the boat waiting of one of them to slip off the boat. How is Lexie going to get out of this? Silly little thriller with an intriguing concept but there's very little tension and between Lexie's reliance on drugs and the boat owner being one of the weakest psychopaths ever put on screen, there's never any doubt as to how this movie is going to go and that's despite some absurd scenes like Lexie going for swim with a clearly visible shark stalking in the area (possibly to deliberately get herself killed) and then freaking out and makes a desperate attempt to get back to the boat. Or a sex scene soon after the boat owner is stabbed. There really isn't a lot to recommend this movie but completely unnecessary nude scene from Rachael St. Rose is pretty nice.

Update for 22 January...

Newness is a modern romantic drama about pharmacist Martin (Nicholas Hoult) and physical therapist Gabi (Laia Costa) who meet using the dating app WINX and hit it off instantly, so much so that Gabi moves in with him not long after. Things are going great, but there's one thing that keeps gnawing away and that's anything to do with Martin's previous marriage to Bethany (Pom Klementieff). After one such blow up, both Martin and Gabi cheat on one another, but they instantly tell each other, but instead of breaking up, they use it as a catalyst to strength their relationship by making it open as long as they each know who they are with. And things start going great again, but their relationship is tested once more when Gabi starts seeing rich business man Larry (Danny Huston) and during a drunken Facebook post, Martin admits to still having feelings for his ex which sets Gabi off and then Larry gives her an offer too good to refuse. Can Martin and Gabi stay together? Another Drake Doremus messy relationship drama (Like Crazy, Breathe In, Equals) and another frustrating movie that almost succeeds despite itself. Hoult and Costa work well together as a couple and making an open relationship look easy, but there reasons for their bust-ups are too flimsy. Gabi seems obsessed with finding out about Martin's broken marriage so much so that she uses it an easy out every time he clams up and doesn't want to talk about it. Surely a relationship that survived blatant infidelity could survive this? Ah, I dunno... Doremus's movies are always worth a look, but they just miss something to make them great movies and Newness is the latest to add to that list.

Update for 21 January...

Still going with the new releases, today a couple of similar horror movies about people inhabiting houses without the knowledge of the people living in the house. Within is about a family who move into a house that the father got cheap because it was a where 3 people were murdered, except he forgot to tell his new wife and daughter. Oh and the murderer still lives in the attic and he's still murdering. Whoops! The Open House is about a woman and her son who move into a house in the country owned by her sister after the unfortunate death of her husband. But strange things begin to happen in the house starting with the pilot light on the water heater and then it get weirder until the killing starts. Neither movie is all that good, The Open House particularly grating as there's zero tension and little motive for what's happening. But it has a couple of brief nude scenes from Piercey Dalton as the mother and they're about the only reason to watch it. If only Erin Moriarty had similar scenes in Within, I've liked her since she played Mel Gibson's daughter in Blood Father and briefly turned up in Captain Fantastic, so hopefully more to cap from her in the future.

Update for 19 January...

A couple more new releases, won't go into lengthy descriptions of the plot of either movie as both are fairly well known. Blade Runner 2049 is the follow-up to the 1982 original with a blade runner K finds the dead body of the replicant Rachel who was the first (and only) replicant to give birth and becomes tangled up in a mystery that's looking very likely to involve him. Here's where I admit to never getting around to seeing the original, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the follow-up and probably need to get around to seeing the original. Now which version... Also, I want one of those Ana de Armas holograms... Happy Death Day is a Groundhog Day-style horror movie where Tree (Jessica Rothe) dies on birthday, then wakes up the previous morning to relive the day and then die until she finds out who is killing her. Completely silly stuff but it works because it just rolls with the silliness. A lot of stupid fun, but nothing you should go deeply into.

Update for 17 January...

Some quick series from new releases.

All I See Is You is a drama where Gina (Blake Lively), a partially blind woman since an accident in her childhood, and her husband James (Jason Clarke) are living in Bangkok and are happily married and are trying to make a baby. Gina is also getting surgery that will hopefully improve her eye sight greatly and it does. Gina is introduced to the new world of sight and it starts to change her in ways that trouble James. Things come to a head during a trip to Spain to visit GIna's sister Carla (Ahna O'Reilly) and he decides to take drastic measures to get the old Gina back, but that doesn't quite go to plan causing Gina to fall into the arms of Daniel (Wes Chatham). Can things get back to the way they were or will tragedy strike first? Ah, the old 'disabled person changes when they get their ability back' plot, that old chestnut. OK idea, but the dramatic tension is weak and then becomes heavily forced when it doesn't initially seem enough. Also, another movie set in Bangkok where the cast is predominantly white. Am I missing something here? Like to think that this is Blake Lively first proper nude scenes, but I'm just not convinced, all very much looking like a double. And Yvonne Strahovski is listed 4th in the credits but only has one blink and you'll miss scene in the movie, suggesting a whole lot of her role was cut. Feels more like a missed opportunity, for what, I don't know.

Australia Day is a movie featuring 3 stories revolving around race set on one Australia Day in Brisbane. Terry (Bryan Brown) is a down and out farmer driving along a back road when Lan (Jenny Wu) is running away from something and enters his ute hoping to get away from someone. She doesn't speak much English and eventually Terry hands her over to the police only for a man to pick her up and aggressively force her into his car. Terry reluctantly saves her, but doesn't know what to do with her until her finds out that she is forced to work in an illegal brothel and there are more women being imprisoned there. Terry checks out the place and is horrified with what he sees and decides to do something about it, but Lan has her own plan. Police officer Sonya (Shari Sebbens) is involved in a high speed car chase which kills a 15 year-old girl, while the deceased girl's sister April (Miah Madden) has run away from the scene. Sonya is told to stand down for the day, but she goes about finding April as it's become clear that she was involved in her father's murder and April wants to find her absent mother, but is looking in all the wrong places. Can Sonya find April before tragedy strikes? And finally, when his sister Chloe (Isabelle Cornish) is found drugged and possibly raped by Sami (Elias Anton), her brother Dean (Sean Keenan) is called in and takes it upon himself to exact revenge on Sami. Meanwhile, Sami's drug dealer brother Yaghoub (Phoenix Raei) is charged with looking for him, but can't really be bothered. Dean's friend Jason (Daniel Webber) is not happy with what's going on and thinks there's more to the story as to why Chloe was with Sami, so when Dean and co. are distracted, he releases Sami, who runs home with a bloodied face, which sets of Yaghoub and he decides the exact his own revenge. Unsurprisingly heavy-handed look at racial tension in Australia, but a well made movie as the stories are deep and affecting enough to rise above a few overblown scenes. While the Aussie vs Muslims story is definitely the weakest of the three, the illegal prostitution story is good although it does take the easy way out, but the story about the Aboriginal girl caught up in a nightmare and the cop that tries to do the right thing is the best of the lot and probably the closest to anything that would really happen. These type of movies are always heavy-handed, but if you can get over that, Australia Day is a pretty decent movie.

Update for 16 January...

Another couple of newly released indie movies.

The Golden Rut is another Austin-based comedy (see Mr. Roosevelt from yesterday) about a struggling actor Scottie (Josh Holden), who at 30 is going nowhere fast despite a lot of confidence and a string of women. He's encouraged by his acting coach to go to New Orleans where more movies are made, but then he meets Ebby (Laura Flannery) and they begin a relationship. Word around town is that world famous director Terrence Malick Moses Duval (Bill Wise) is filming in town and Scottie is desperate for his agent to get him into the movie, but that doesn't look likely. Things are going really well between Scottie and Ebby and she encourages him to 'get his shit together' and then tells him that her identical twin sister Alex (also Laura Flannery) is coming to visit. Well, Alex turns out to be a wilder and more sexually uninhibited version of Ebby and while he loves Ebby, it's becoming harder to ignore Alex. Scottie gets an in with Moses Duval from his brother (Nick Holden), but hears that he is looking for a developmentally-challenged person for the lead and well, when you're desperate for your big break... Can Scottie get the role that will make his career and sort out which sister he would rather be with? Another OK comedy that has a few laughs and a sexy female lead in Laura Flannery in dual roles, but the movie is full of insider comedy about the acting game and that is really boring and sometimes goes on and on in the movie and the movie is much better when is focuses on the sisters.

Suck It Up is a Canadian drama about two friends who haven't seen each other in a while, Faye (Erin Carter) and Ronnie (Grace Glowicki). Faye comes back into Ronnie's life when Ronnie has an accident at work caused by her descent into alcoholism after the death of her brother, who also happens to be Faye's former boyfriend. Faye tries to comfort Ronnie, but she's not interested, so she hastily suggests a trip to get away for a while to Invermere on the Lake, a place of significance to both girls and Ronnie's brother. Ronnie is extremely reluctant to do anything but drink and fuck away her pain, not matter what Faye does. In town, they meet a group of men who are hanging out together including Granville (Dan Beirne), who Faye takes a shine too, but when she tries to have sex with him, she remembers her boyfriend and can't continue. Ronnie is getting worse and continues to fight with Faye, but can they overcome their issues revolving around Ronnie's brother and move on with their lives? Not bad movie with a couple of solid lead performances although the movie does hastily attempt to solve the issues that Faye and Ronnie have, which seem to increase as the movie progresses.

Update for 15 January...

Haven't capped a newly released movie this year, so it's about time I did.

Mr. Roosevelt is a comedy about Emily (Noël Wells, also writer/director of movie) who is a struggling comedian in Los Angeles despite having a wildly viral video on YouTube. When she gets a phone call from her ex Eric (Nick Thune) about the imminent death of their cat Mr. Roosevelt, Emily rushes back home to Austin. In Austin, she stays at Eric's place with his new girlfriend Celeste (Britt Lower), a perpetually optimistic person who rules over Eric's life and right from the start Emily and Celeste do not get along. While in town, she catches up with Jen (Daniella Pineda), a woman she once met at a party and barely knows, but she is friendly to Emily and they hang out a few times. But the time away from Austin has Emily more alone than ever and there are still lingering issues from her relationship with Eric and maybe still a spark that she has to confront, all before Mr. Roosevelt's funeral. OK indie comedy with a few good laughs but plays more like a 'dramedy' than a comedy movie, which is pretty much the norm for these types of movies. Noël is quite good here and I swear I've seen her before in some other thing but I don't seem to have seen anything else in her filmography.

Update for 2 January...

A quick couple of series from movies released in the early 90s for the first movie update of 2018.

Anyway, 2017 was a busy year for the site, in part because I had a growing pile of movies that I needed to get rid of fast or at least keep under control. Well, the pile is now a bottomless pit and is growing faster than I'm putting them out. At least the redux series are diminishing and that's about the best I can say. I was also hoping to add a new feature to the site in the new year, something I've been working on since 2014, but of course it's failed to meet the deadline. Maybe it'll be ready by 2020...

Some recent years I've wondered how I could put a end of year best of list together, but not in 2017 which had some absolutely excellent nudity. So, in no particular order, but if I was to pick my favourite nudity from the year, it would definitely be Elizabeth Rice from Paradise Club, there's... just so much of it...

Charlize Theron and Sofia Boutella in Atomic Blonde (some really good girl-girl scenes - for a mainstream movie - and I'm was quite surprised by Sofia's nudity, being following her since StreetDance 2)
Brianna Brown in The Evil Within (great nudity, but the movie seems to have been made in 2002 and only just released. Nonetheless...)
Francesca Eastwood in M.F.A (decent nude scenes in this rape revenge movie)
Elizabeth Rice, Nicole Arianna Fox etc. in Paradise Club (stacks and stacks of nudity in this movie particularly from Elizabeth who I've liked for a while)
Morgan Saylor etc. in White Girl (really great nudity -and a far amount - from Morgan)
Lily James in The Exception (great nude debut from Lily)
Laura Gordon in Embedded (love Laura and she has some decent nudity in this barely seen movie)
Teresa Palmer in Berlin Syndrome (best nudity from Teresa since Restraint which is now over 10 years old - filmed in 2005/released 2008)
Emilia Clarke in Voice From The Stone (her first nude scenes outside of Game Of Thrones is every bit as good)
Kristen Stewart in Personal Shopper (some decent nudity from Kristen in this odd ghost story)
Allie Gallerani in The Institute (never heard of Allie before this movie, but she has a fantastic nude scene in this movie)
Rooney Mara in Una (Rooney always delivers and she has some great nudity in this full on movie)

With a special mention to Charlotte Best who had brief nudity in Skinford and Teenage Kicks, here's hoping for a better look in the future. Also worth a mention are Florence Pugh in Lady Macbeth, Mia Goth in A Cure For Wellness, Scout Taylor-Compton in Ghost House, Rose Leslie in Sticky Notes, the girls of The Little Hours (the movie on the over hand...) and some Aussie girls with Scarlet Vas in The Warriors (also a great addition to Neighbours), Nicky Whelan in Inconceivable and Jade Albany in the documentary American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story.

A pretty great year for nudity in movies particularly when I leave out some faves like Jennifer Lawrence, Hannah Murray, Alicia Vikander, Verónica Echegui, María Valverde (from the three movies she had nude scenes in) etc. But, I've been seriously lacking on the TV side this year, not a lot of new stuff (gee, I've been going through the long gone True Blood for the past few months). I even tried to get a late entry in from GLOW, but while the nudity is fine, not great enough to make the list sadly.
