Update for 29 April...

Another new movie. Deadly Illusions is a Netflix movie under the thriller banner but it's really just a telemovie that has fewer restrictions and in this movie's case, 20 minutes longer. There's a bit more sex, some nudity and a more violent scene towards the end than the usual Hallmark movie. Doesn't make it all that much better though.

Update for 25 April...

Some more new movies. The Empty Man is a strange beast of a movie, having a wild idea and then dragging it out for two and a quarter hours but it never really feels too long. Reminds me a lot of Ringu/The Ring and I wouldn't be surprised if it heavily influenced it. Interestingly, the movie is dated 2018 at the end of the movie suggesting it was on the shelf for a while but IMDB (not the most reliable of sources) has production dates ranging from 2016 to the beginning of the pandemic lockdown. And also that some of the movie was shot in South Africa and there's a number of South African actors in the credits but none in any of the bigger supporting roles. Very odd production all-round.

Update for 20 April...

Still more 90s movies.

Shrunken Heads is one strange movie with a very odd tone which is unsurprising given it's written by Matthew Bright (Freeway, Freeway II: Confessions Of A Trickbaby) and from low rent producer Charles Band. Basically, three young teens are harassed constantly by local thugs so they decide to get video footage of them committing crimes to get them in trouble. Well, it works except the local boss tells them to kill the kids, which they do. Enter the local Haitian voodoo priest who cuts off their heads and re-animates them as shrunken heads who are hellbent on getting revenge on all involved. It starts off like it wants to be a kids caper movie and then takes a dark turn and then never looks back. It's an odd tone that doesn't really work and is incredibly hateful (unsurprising from Bright) but it is strangely watchable and has a few funny scenes and Rebecca Herbst as the female lead is pretty affable even if her character has a very strange crush on one of the dead kids.

Update for 18 April...

90s weekend update time.

Defenseless is an early 90s mystery thriller when Barbara Hershey plays a lawyer T.K. who is having an affair with Steven (J.T. Walsh, always sleazy) who turns out to be the husband of a former sorority friend (Mary Beth Hurt) and then Steven turns up dead, just after T.K. hysterically attacked him with a letter opener. Well his wife confesses, job done and she can attempt to defend her in court. Oh, did I forget to mention that a crazy father who's pissed off his daughter is doing porn is going around bashing anyone involved including T.K. who is representing a porn director named Jack Hammer and a cop (Sam Shepard) is following her around to catch the father but also thinks T.K. knows way more about the murder than she's letting on (she does). Wild plot that goes all over the place and then becomes absolutely hysterical in the final act with everyone given a turn at a good screaming monologue. Directed by a pretty solid director in Martin Campbell, Defenseless is pretty solid plotwise but the hysterics really bring it down and the whole porn sub-plot is a complete red herring but it does feature the highly unlikely scenario of Jay O. Sanders as a porn star called Bull Dozer which is amazing and baffling at the same time. All-in-all, a pretty typical 80s/90s high concept thriller.

A couple of Passionflix movies today, a surprisingly good streaming service for nude scenes with some particularly good scenes from Driven and Gabriel's Inferno. A bit spotty in this update, Emma Rigby had slightly better nudity from another Passionflix movie Hollywood Dirt. Had seen Jordan Lane Price in a couple of things recently and then she turned up as the lead in Dirty Sexy Saint and she has a few nude scenes in the movie. Most of the videos are very long for not much in return and they are clearly shot for a female audience but they still have nudity, so does it really matter?

Well, it's another HD redux. Been sitting on this on for a while, just another lost in the pile, so good to finally get this done. Except... The source I have seems to have slight alternate scenes, as I have two different versions of one video and there's a scene with Marieh Delfino having her singlet ripped off as she is tied up and then whipped that isn't in the HD source I had. But a closer look at my original post has this video randomly put after I had added deleted and extended scenes which would suggest that it wasn't in the movie, so I need to get the original Australian DVD that I capped it from to check it out.

Update for 3 April...

Still more reduxes. Capped Bring It On Again back in the day and this is the first time it's appeared on the site. I remember being irrationally annoyed by this movie because it's where I learned about cheerleading scholarships, one of the most baffling things I've ever known about. I've mellowed a bit on this, anything that pays for college is a good thing but it doesn't make me any less baffled by it though. The movie itself is a total straight-to-DVD affair, not even trying to be any more than that, not helped by two no names as the lead actresses, although both seem to be dancers so they seem to do a few more stunts, although not the more 'extreme' ones. I haven't seen any later sequels, but they seem to go for more star power which is probably the better way to go with these movies.

When I capped Hilary and Jackie previously, it was from a poorly made DVD but it was the only version of the movie available at the time. Found a HD copy of the movie which is much better, the dark scenes have some actual colour instead of just blue.

Just looking through my old collages from Antitrust and looks like there was some deleted scenes on the DVD featuring Rachael Leigh Cook (ha, I spelled her name wrong on the collage, dumbarse). Nothing to cap of Rachael in the movie and these scenes were probably cut because of a late twist involving Rachael's character which rendered the scenes redundant. Should see if I can get a copy of the DVD or even Bluray to get video of the scene.
