Australian/New Zealand movies: 2006
Another three part year with plenty to choose from and a bit of nudity throughout. This update includes extensive nudity in Candy and The Book of Revelation plus some good scenes in Angela's Decision and Blue Notes. I've also remade videos from a number of movies, some of which still had the original videos I made 17/18 years ago.
Part 2 is highlighted by with a number of international actresses turning up in Australian movie although none have any nude scenes. But there is a fair amount of nudity in this update with decent nudity in Em 4 Jay and Macbeth plus some good scenes in Gene-X and Jupiter Love.
The final part of the 2006 update features decent nudity in Suburban Mayhem and plenty of native nudity in Ten Canoes while there's good scenes in the WWE movie See No Evil and terrible horror movie Voodoo Lagoon.
2006
2:37
South Australian made teen drama set over a day at a high school where one of the students will be found dead at 2:37. The movie follows six troubled students and tells their stories including Melody (Teresa Palmer), a popular girl who's secret is she is raped by her step-brother Marcus (Frank Sweet). Or 'Uneven' Steven (Charles Baird), a boy who walks with a limp and has incontinence issues and because of this he is horrendously bullied and beaten. Well inevitably it turns out the character that dies isn't one of the six students that are followed but one that interacts with some of the students throughout the day and we end up missing the story as to why that person died instead only given a moot reading of the situation. An interesting attempt at looking at the troubles of teenagers and the hell of school and the movie is fairly unflinching particularly as the debut director (and only movie he made) was 20 at the time of filming. It doesn't completely succeed portraying it but considering Australian movies are rarely this bold, it gets plenty of points for effort. To think that this movie was riddled with conspiracy theories about it's similarities to Gus Van Sant's Elephant at the time of release. There are similarities but it's not that close.
There's no real nudity in 2:37 but I've decided to remake the videos from the movie because the originals are 17 years old and aren't the quality I do now. You can find new videos of Teresa Palmer and Marni Spillane below. I previously mentioned that Wolf Creek was Teresa Palmer's first movie but it looks like that 2:37 was actually her first movie; it just came out later.
You can find previous collages from 2:37 here.

48 Shades
Coming-of-age drama based on a book from popular Brisbane author Nick Earls and strangely the only movie directed by Muriel's Wedding actor Daniel Lapaine. Dan (Richard Wilson) is a teenage boy who decides to live with his slightly older aunt Jacq (Robin McLeavy) instead of going overseas with his parents. She has a new roommate, Naomi (Emma Lung), who both are attracted to but she is off in her own world full of pathetic boyfriends and impulsive actions. Dan also come under the intention of the shy nerdy girl Imogen (Victoria Thaine). Been a while since I've seen this movie but I remember liking it as it's fairly charming but it is rather slight and unrewarding.
No nudity in 48 Shades but there's some collages and videos of Emma Lung and others available here.
Angela's Decision
50 minute South Australian drama where small town girl Angela (Rhiannon Owen) is excited that her army boyfriend Will (Xavier Samuel, either this or 2:37 was his movie debut) has returned home and she now wants to get married and have children with him as she sees her best friend Susan (Sarah Brokensha) already in this situation (unwillingly). But Will isn't ready to have kids and just wants to hang around with his mates and be with Angela. Angela wants to leave her small town and is sick of dealing with her alcoholic mother (Carmel Johnson from Bad Boy Bubby) and her new partner and the only way she thinks she can do it is by getting pregnant and trapping Will. Well, she becomes pregnant without Will knowledge but when he tells her that he's signed up to go to Iraq, Angela has a decision to make about her life and where she wants to be. OK drama with two solid lead performances but the story is a little off-putting and it's hard to like Angela as she's making many bad decisions before making her one possibly good decision.
Rhiannon Owen shows her bottom in one scene and some side-boob in another.

The Bet
Another actor (Mark Lee) directing his one-and-only movie. Corporate thriller about a stockbroker Will (Matthew Newton) who with his buddy Angus (Aden Young) make a bet as to who can make the most money in three months starting with $50,000. Will decides that he will do anything to win the bet including break the law and of course this leads to his downfall. Being a while since I've seen this movie.
The only nudity in The Bet is from some unknown strippers. There's also a few collages and HD videos of Sibylla Budd from the movie here. A preview is below.
Strippers in The Bet
Blue Notes
Another movie from Melbourne auteur Bill Mousoulis, this time an anthology movie about a bunch of people who are feeling down or depressed in their lives. These include a wife Helen (Susan Strafford) who doesn't know how to deal with her husband Richard (Peter Lesley) who is depressed. Amy (Renée Francis) is being abused by her boyfriend Steven (Dave Kenyon) and decides to leave. Jasper (Adam Royall) is a drug addict that is trying to get into music but can't pay his rent so he's forced onto the streets. Also there's a lonely Greek-Australian man Kosta (Nino Kannavas) who decides to join a Greek choir so that he can find a connection to the community. There may be another story. OK movie, at least I could understand this one as I struggled with Mousoulis's previous movie and while it's still in that minimalist style, some of the stories are quite enjoyable.
Susan Strafford shows her breasts in one scene.

The Book of Revelation
Arty wankfest, sorry, 'erotic mystery' about Daniel (Tom Long), who is a premier dancer who one day is drugged and kidnapped by three women who have their way with him and turn him into a psychological wreck before turning him back into the world to face his demons. He decides not to report the kidnapping/rape and disappears from his life as far as he can be taking a bar job in middle-of-nowhere. Then he becomes obsessed with finding who did this by dating and fucking any women who kinda looks like the perpetrators, particular a red-haired woman with a distinctive scar on her bottom who was surprisingly caring towards him as that is who haunts him the most. He is tracked down by Olsen (Colin Friels), the cop friend of his choreographer Isabel (Greta Scacchi) who tries to help him back but it makes everything worse. At his lowest point he finds help from a caring stranger on a train Julie (Deborah Mailman) who helps give him his confidence back and they become partners. But the red-haired woman still haunts him. Terrible movie that attempts to delve deeply into the trauma of male rape and does it in the most annoying, wankiest way possible. There's even a 'foreboding mime' which may be the most laughable thing in this shitfest. That or Tom Long saying Colin Friels doesn't look like a cop, the man who's played a cop in so many fucking things it'll be on his tombstone. It was awful in 2006 and it's aged like milk in 2024.
This bit of trivia sums up perfectly how silly this movie is:
Plenty of nudity in The Book of Revelation, some of which I'm featuring on the site for the first time as I've remade the videos from the movie. Amongst those nude in the movie are Zoe Naylor, Odette Joannides, Olivia Pigeot, Ana Maria Belo and Belinda McClory (which I've only just realised) amongst others. New videos are available below. You can find previous collages from The Book of Revelation here.

The Bouncer
Low budget Perth roughneck drama/comedy from the makers of Aussie Park Boyz. Dave (John Waters) is a long-time bouncer about to start his final night at the Utopia Night Club as he's marrying Stella (Rose McKenna), a rich lonely woman just looking for someone friendly. But you wouldn't believe this, it's going to be a wild last night for Dave. An old flame Maggie (Jenny McCann) asks for his help to fence 20 diamonds her partner has stolen from his mining job and has to deal with an old foe in the psychotic crim La Rosa (Nunzio La Bianca). He also has to deal with issues inside the night club including new bouncer Jamie (Matt Elverd) who about to have a helluva first day, bouncers who are drug dealers, angry, drunken and violent patrons and a boss who'd rather be selling ice-creams. It's just another day at the job he loves and it may be best day or his last day. Clunky but a pretty fun movie that is lifted greatly by getting John Waters as the lead actor, who elevates the movie to a better standing than it has any right having. He grounds the movie perfectly and makes it fairly watchable despite it's clunkiness and sometimes silly plot.
Nudity from Kerry Binini, Hannah Moltoni and Anne Forrester. Videos from the movie are available below.

Burke & Wills
Mumblecore drama where Wills (Matt Zeremes) is kicked out of his girlfriend's place because he's a hopeless loser who's sponging off her and her sister. He finds a place with Burke (Oliver Torr), who's is a lost soul prone to bouts of crying in the shower. They hit it off through beer and conversations while Wills finds a new girlfriend Nicole (Hannah Durack). Burke's beloved grandmother dies and he becomes even more depressed despite inheriting $140,000. Wills gets a job and Burke becomes more depressed and it leads to change in both men's lives but also fractures their relationship in a way which will become irrevocable after a fateful incident involving Wills's ex. I rarely have a radical change of opinion on a movie but I originally thought this movie was alright but I despised it after a recent rewatch. It's a typical mumblecore mess: annoying characters, ridiculous situations, boring conversations and just when it looks like it's about to get on track, it pulls out a severe ending that feels like it came from another movie. The plot around Wills getting a job makes no sense whatsoever and then we have to put up with 5 or so minutes of his boss whining about fuck-knows-what. This movie is garbage.
No real nudity in Burke & Wills but there's a few videos from the movie available here.
Candy
Dour romantic drama where Dan (Heath Ledger) falls for Candy (Abbie Cornish) and they bond through their love of heroin. But this lifestyle is not sustainable so they attempt to find ways to make money and when it looks like Candy is making all the money, Dan decides to become a con man to make up his side. For a while they find some good living but it all falls down just as quickly and they come to Melbourne to get themselves clean by going cold turkey leading to Candy having a miscarriage. Candy's parents (Tony Martin and Noni Hazlehurst, who'd previously dealt with a drug addict in Monkey Grip) try to help her but she must help herself while Casper (Geoffrey Rush) helps feed their habit. OK drama that becomes more depressing by-the minute but has some great performances from Ledger and Cornish. Candy's fall is a real gut punch to watch.
Plenty of nudity from Abbie Cornish.
You can find collages and HD videos from Candy here. A preview is below.
Abbie Cornish in Candy
The Caterpillar Wish
Small town South Australian drama where teenage Emily (Victoria Thaine) lives with her topless barmaid single mother Susan (Susie Porter) and when Emily finds her mother's teenage diary, it makes her decide to find out who her father is. Susan was 15 when she had Emily and continues to tell her that she had a fling with an out-of-towner and that is who her father is but Emily is unconvinced. Meanwhile Emily has a boyfriend in Joel (Khan Chittenden), son of sleazy local cop Carl (Philip Quast) who keeps the local women 'happy', strangely unbeknown to his wife Elizabeth (Wendy Hughes). Emily's search begins with family friend and Carl's brother Steve (Robert Mammone) who's has a crush on her mother but has never gone there. He seems to know something but is reluctant to say then she tries her estranged grandparents and when her grandfather gives in a tells Emily it was the much older local cop, it sets off a series of events which may end tragically. OK drama with an interesting story but it fumbles the ending badly all to stop the story from being 'icky'. It just doesn't have the guts to go down the path less travelled. Good lead performance from Victoria Thaine once again.
Brief nudity from Victoria Thaine, Susie Porter and Sonara Krix.

Court of Lonely Royals
Ooof, really struggling with this one. Something about young people in the near future who are a part of a hit squad for the cops. Stars a bunch of cool actors at the time who don't act anymore including Samantha Noble and Leah de Niese and I remember it being quite stylish.
No nudity in Court of the Lonely Royals but there's a few collages and videos available here.
DemonsAmongUs
aka The Demons Among Us
Low budget horror movie where demons are rising up into the small town of Miranda Falls just in time for writer Joe (Nathaniel Kiwi) who's just arrived from the city for some peace and quiet. First he meets store clerk Kylie (Laura Hesse) who he kind of hits it off with but at night, things go bad and when Sally (Hollie Kennedy) cannot reach her family, she goes home and along the way finds a deranged Joe who's seen what Sally is about to see: her family slaughtered by a demon that's inhabited her brother. Well, Sally is killed and Joe needs to get himself together otherwise he's a dead man. Also there's a Quentin Tarantino-like Hollywood director Ed (Peter Roberts) decides to come home and gets himself involved in this bloody mess for some reason. Interesting attempt at a small scale horror movie but goes a bit heavy on the style and is unsurprisingly picked up by Troma, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Perfectly fine watch.
No real nudity in DemonsAmongUs but there is a scene where we see a patch on Laura Hesse's breasts during a sex scene.
You can find a synopsis with videos from DemonsAmongUs here. A preview is below.
Laura Hesse in DemonsAmongUs
Em 4 Jay
Another social drama from director Alkinos Tsilimidos, this time following the year's theme of 'junkies in love'. Em (Laura Gordon) and Jay (Nick Barkla) are two drug addicts living on the fringes of society and are struggling to make enough money to continue their habit so Jay comes up with a plan to rob service stations/convenience stores. This goes OK for a while, Em even joins in, but this is not a sustainable way to live so Jay starts dealing pills which annoys Em. So it's back to armed robbery and they become increasingly violent after Jay stabs one person. Em and Jay have never been more in love with themselves and heroin and the stakes are getting higher. That is when they are robbed and Jay buys a gun and things soon spiral completely out-of-control. OK movie about the depths that these two young lovers will go to keep their fake lifestyle. Some good acting but it's all very inevitable and not as devastating as it could be.
A fair bit of nudity from Laura Gordon. I've redone the videos from the movie which you can find below. You can find previous collages from Em 4 Jay here.

Emulsion
Satire about the perils of fame where a famous actor (Matthew Le Nevez) hits a woman with his car after having a few drinks so his agent (Tyler Coppin) tells him to ditch the car, report it stolen and blame it on the made-up thief because he has an overseas career he has to worry about. Well he comes across a young detective (Ella Scott Lynch) who immediately pegs that the actor did it but can't get any evidence to break the case. The actor gets a pang of guilt about what he's done and visits the victim, a sex worker (Victoria Thaine), who is in a comatose state. That is when her 'boyfriend' (Toby Schmitz) pounces and attempts to weasel his way into the actor's life via extortion as he saw what happened. At the same time the actor gets an offer from Hollywood and he needs to be taken off the suspect list before he can go. But the boyfriend is still lingering wanting his lump of flesh. Silly movie that doesn't have anything new to say and is full of actors in multiple roles so it gets a bit confusing at times. A decent young cast for a low budget movie that never got a proper release which I've been looking forever for before finding it on Vimeo.
There's nudity from an unknown actress who takes her bikini top off to unsuccessfully entice the actor plus a nip slip from Sharni Page. Videos from the movie can be found below.

Event 16 (NZ)
Enterprising low budget time-travel thriller where in the present day Wellington, Matt (Peter Rutherford) is on the verge of something big just as his long suffering girlfriend Paige (Jocelyn Christian) asks for a commitment after he misses another dinner. Then from seemingly out-of-nowhere, a cat enters his garage that has come through a portal from 1893 and his discovery has come alive. Meanwhile, a serial killer from 1893 barely avoids police but is seemingly helped by a future time cop much to the chagrin of his fellow time cops and both Matt and Paige end up in the middle of this struggle when the serial killer sets his sights on Paige. But he's not the only one. Surprisingly good time travel movie that gets way too complicated in the end when it heads into the future and introduces a minor character into the main plot. There's a lot going on in this movie and is genuinely a decent attempt on the smell of an oily rag.
No nudity in Event 16 but there's a video of Jocelyn Christian in bra available below.
Jocelyn Christian in Event 16
Five Moments of Infidelity
Drama about five couples whose relationships are about to be affected by infidelity. Narelle (Sally McDonald) has fallen head-over-heels for Billy (Kirk Westwood) but she soon finds out that he's a massive cad. Hayden (John Sheedy) is struggling with his moody American wife Brittany (Charmaine Gorman) but things are about to change after connecting with a down Narelle and not necessarily in the most expected way. Mitchell (Josh Cameron) and Danny (Jason Chong) are in a long term relationship that's about to have a shake up when Danny's boss Conrad (Ben Anderson) casts his eye onto Mitchell. Girl boss Vicki (Amanda Douge) is having problems with her lawyer husband Anthony (Alex Papps) so she flirts with infidelity with of all people, Billy. Wait until you find out who she's the boss of... Julie (Annie Jones) is a drunken wreck while her long suffering husband Bob (Brett Swain) tries to keep her happy, not helped by her constantly fighting with their teenage daughter Jacinta (Holly Sinclair) who has her own issues that are about to blow up. Constantly annoying ensemble drama where everyone knows everyone and it's all very convenient. It gets so bad that the ending just seems like a joke. Is there anyone else in the city? This is not helped by some clumsy plotting and some characters are just pointless. A mess.
Brief nudity from Amanda Douge. I've remade the videos from the movie in slightly better quality which you can find below as I doubt we'll ever see this movie in better than DVD quality. Previous collages from Five Moments of Infidelity are available here.

Gene-X
Medical thriller where Dr Tom Grey (Patrick Magee) is working on a cancer cure at a hospital when he catches the eye of nurse Casey (Ayse Tezel) who is kinda appalled by him using rabbits as his 'guinea pigs'. Tom is close to the cure but one of his fellow doctor's mistakes his cancer cure for meth and he and his girlfriend take it. Also Tom's boss, who's having an affair with Casey, has also gotten a hold of the mistaken meth. Casey is also looking after a young boy who is dying from cancer and she coaxes Tom to try the cure on him. Well, it turns out the 'cure' makes people extremely violent but it also cures the young boy and now a bunch of people who've taken the 'cure' have turned extremely violent and various people are dying. Has a fairly obvious idea and runs with it although there's little consistency as to how the drug works particularly how it cured the boy but he magically doesn't become violent. Not a bad movie but it's limitations are obvious and definitely affect it.
Ayse Tezel shows her bottom and the side of her breast while Katya Uzzell shows her breasts as a cadaver.

Gone
Another backpackers in the outback thriller which was a thing during this era of Australian film thanks to a string a real-life incidents. This one is about a young British couple Alex (Shaun Evans) and Sophie (Amelia Warner, her second Australian movie after the 2003 drama Love's Brother) who meet a mysterious American backpacker Taylor (Scott Mechlowicz) who takes them out to the outback and he becomes menacing towards Alex while trying to get with Sophie. Barely remember this movie as it got lost in the string of these type of movies made at this time.
Brief nudity from Amelia Warner, I think this might be her only nudity. She's now a composer for movies.

Irresistible
By-the-numbers stalker thriller where Sophie (Susan Sarandon), who is married to Craig (Sam Neill) who has a new assistant in Mara (Emily Blunt) and she is working wonders for him. Craig introduces Mara and her husband Jimmy (William McInnes) to his family and then strange things begin to happen with toys going missing and a car mysteriously appearing outside the house. It starts to consume Sophie who thinks that Mara is up to something but when she follows Mara and illegally enters her house, Mara puts a restraining order on Sophie but she is convinced Mara is out to get her. But why? As Sophie becomes more unhinged, she's also becoming closer to the truth. Silly, barely above Lifetime stalker thriller, the type of movie you'd think this cast would be well above. Sarandon tries her best and really goes with it but everyone is wildly miscast. Sarandon and Neill are too old to have primary school aged children while Emily Blunt is way too young for her role and I hope her kid is a stepkid because she would've been 14 if she had it. So many baffling choices.

Jindabyne
Director Ray Lawrence's (Bliss, Lantana) third and probably last movie. Drama based on a Raymond Carver short story that featured in Short Cuts. Four men go for a fishing and camping weekend in a remote spot and find a dead Indigenous girl but instead of calling the police immediately, they tie her down and continue fishing until the guilt takes over. Once back in town, they become pariahs and it starts to affect their lives, particularly mechanic Stewart (Gabriel Byrne) and his wife Claire (Laura Linney) who is disgusted by his behaviour and attempts to make amends just as she is having a medical episode. Solid drama that may be goes on too long and the focus is probably too much on Stewart and Claire and not enough on anyone else especially the victim. But it's pretty good stuff nonetheless.
The only nudity is from Tatea Reilly as a corpse but I get the feeling most if not all of her nudity is from a prosthetic of her.

Jupiter Love
No budget ahhh... thriller I guess... where X (Nikka Kalashnikova) is building up to her first exhibition when she comes across Y (Michael André) while driving along a country road who drives alongside her and films her then wants to get to know her but she's not interested. They meet a second time along the country road and Y becomes more violent towards X which leads to her escaping but not without her camera which has her latest exhibition piece on it. Y becomes obsessed with finding and wanting X but she's always one step ahead and will do anything to get rid of him. I think... Honestly, I have no idea what the hell this movie was on about and there's very little going on to even parse a plot from. Considering the entire movie was made by two people it's impressive they got as far as they did, if only it made some sort of sense.
You can find a synopsis of the Jupiter Love plus a collage and videos from the movie here. A preview is below.

Last Train to Freo
Directorial debut from Chances star Jeremy Sims. Stagey drama about two thugs (Steve Le Marquand and Tom Budge) who get on a train to Fremantle one night and come across Lisa (Gigi Edgley) and attempt to intimidate her but it doesn't go to plan. Don't remember much more than that but I remember Steve Le Marquand being very good as the lead thug but then he always plays thugs.
No nudity in Last Train to Freo but Gigi Edgley wears a sexy dress throughout which you can see a bunch of collage of here. No videos though. Baffled as to why I capped it in the first place.
Like Minds
aka Murderous Intent
British co-production with a very odd production set-up as it was shot in both Australia and Britain while set in Britain. Alex (Eddie Redmayne) is bought in by police after he is found with the body of his roommate Nigel (Tom Sturridge), who's been shot dead. He says he didn't do it so the detective Martin (Richard Roxburgh) brings in forensic psychiatric Sally (Toni Collette) to profile Alex. Alex tells her about Nigel being very weird with a love of dissecting things and is obsessed with the Templar Knights which he believes he and Alex are a part of. Their relationship gets off to a weird start when Nigel drops Alex's friend Josh off a moving train and try as he might, Alex can't shake Nigel no thanks to his headmaster father (Patrick Malahide) who believes Nigel's family to be important. Alex and Nigel get closer over time but when a girl Alex likes is murdered, probably by Nigel, things get out-of-control fast. OK thriller that's a little too obsessed with secret societies and can't help itself with a late twist that doesn't really work. Redmayne is pretty good here and Sturridge looks suitably creepy but I struggled to get over how this movie starring two Australian actors was set in Yorkshire. Apparently Toni Collette only filmed in Australia. Baffling...

Macbeth
Romper Stomper director Geoffrey Wright's first Australian movie in 12 years (he made Cherry Falls in between). A modern update on Shakespeare's Macbeth, now set in the Melbourne underworld during a gang war. You know the story: Macbeth (Sam Worthington) is encouraged by his wife Lady Macbeth (Victoria Hill) to become the head of his gang and he does this by murdering the current head Duncan (Gary Sweet). But after the murder, things don't go as planned and both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth become victims of their conscience. Solid adaptation and Wright isn't above making a highly violent and sexual version of the story so you get the three witches now fully naked having an orgy with Macbeth.
Victoria Hill is naked in a few scenes while Kate Bell, Miranda Nation and Chloe Armstrong play the three witches who have extensive nudity during their scenes. Big update for Chloe Armstrong as she also appears in Em 4 Jay having heroin injected into her eyeball.

Playing with Piranhas
Low budget drama where Mardi (Bella Vendramini) is continuing to struggle with incidents that happened in her childhood while navigating becoming an adult and having responsibilities. Her father (Robin Royce Queree) has been put into final care by her sister Lena (Sandra Stockley) but Mardi has never forgiven him for his role in splitting up the family. Her mother (Lisa Peers) left as she couldn't cope after the death of her son in a car accident which continues to haunt Mardi. Meanwhile Mardi is having problems with her housemates who are all living in Mardi's family home now that her father has moved out. Her best friend PJ (Natalie Murray) is constantly arguing with her live-in boyfriend and it's getting on everyone's nerves while Keith (Chum Ehelepola) tries to keep an even keel in the house but is fast running out of patience. Mardi has a new boyfriend in punk rocker Philo (Jai Koutrae) but that doesn't look like lasting either. Mardi's got a lot of problems and she's struggling to work them out. Surprisingly good drama that lays it on thick but has a good story and a well written lead character which goes a long way to making it work. There's a lot going on and some of it is quickly swept aside for easy drama but enough of the movie works to make it a good watch.
Brief nudity from Bella Vendramini and Natalie Murray. Sadly I could only find a fairly small version of the movie on IMDB but it's better than nothing.

Quiet Night In (NZ)
Low budget comedy about Jess (Nicolette Kenny) who is desperate for a night in to finish writing her new book but she quickly becomes engulfed by the people in her life who all want a piece of her. Footballer/actor Rob (Richard Lambeth) just wants a 'chat' with Jess. Rebecca (Lucy Gay) is a TV host who just lost her job and wants Jess to listen to her groan about it. Her lecturer Lawrence (Brian McKay) is a randy letch who just wants 'naked time' and has bought along his assistant William (Kittichon Helviphat) who seems to also want something from Jess. And finally her mother calls every 10 minutes to much annoyance. Jess is struggling to get rid of the gang, not helped when the door jams so she drifts off into fantasy to find a way to get out of this mess. Silly, low stakes movie that has an odd 60s/70s vibe to it and is chock full of the most annoying characters you're ever likely to meet. The movie just goes on and on until it finally ends. Oooof...
No nudity in Quiet Night In but there's an underwear scene from Nicolette Kenny which you can find below.

Rosebery 7470
First movie from underground filmmaker Stefan Popescu, a grimy kitchen sink drama made in the titular Tasmanian mining town focusing on a very fucked up family. Alison (Alice Ansara) is a mentally stunted teenage girl who wears nothing but pajamas and is abused from all angles but mostly by her own family. Daddy Roger (Roger Adam Smith) is in an incestuous relationship with Alison's sister Sophie (Sara Cooper) and Mummy Nora (Ann Ellison) copes with her own dalliance and her pills. Then Sophie rejects Daddy and he can't take it so he blows his brains out. Sophie can't cope so she leaves home and Mummy ups her pill intake until she drops dead while Alison copes by becoming more 'normal'. She comes across the aggressively horny Keith (John Chatwin), who's sick of the town 'sluts' and wants someone 'pure'. She succumbs to his 'charms' but is physically sick at performing sexual acts which frustrates Keith further. Oh and Keith is also with Sophie so that's going to end well. A very strange movie but is also a fairly straightforward kitchen sink drama with a mix of horror images and Popescu sure loves putting chemicals on film. It's intriguing to a point but the ending is a bit ridiculous and you have to believe that a certain character is someone else until it is revealed who they really are, which only works if you haven't figured it out earlier.
No nudity in Rosebery 7470 but there's a few videos from the movie available here.
Safety in Numbers
Slasher horror movie where contestants from the reality TV show get back together for a reunion show and then the contestants get bumped off one-by-one. Being a while since I've seen it but I remember that everyone does an American accent and Jessica Napier is in it during her horror movie phase.
No nudity in Safety in Numbers but there's a few videos from the movie available here.
See No Evil
First of the WWE movies that were made in Queensland. Horror movie where a bunch of juvenile delinquents are taken to an abandoned hotel by prison guard Frank (Steven Vidler) to clean it up but it turns out that he has a history with the place and it's about to come back and terrorise those who 'volunteered' for the job. Turns out a serial killer called Jacob Goodnight (wrestler Kane) is lingering and he likes to take the eyes of his victims. And that seems to be going swimmingly for him until he spies Kira (Samantha Noble) in the shower with a familiar religious tattoo on her back and he becomes obsessed with her. Ridiculous horror movie that would be typically B-grade without the WWE bump but Kane does make a pretty solid villain and the movie has actresses like Rachael Taylor and Penny McNamee so it's not all bad.
Samantha Noble show her bottom and side-boob in the shower. Her father is the villain of another horror movie in this update.

The Silence
Two part oddball mystery from director Cate Shortland that equals feature length in total. Richard (Richard Roxburgh) is a gunshy former detective who is tasked with curating an exhibition of police crime scene photos. Along the way he becomes obsessed with one victim to the point that he tries to find her killer 50+ years after it happened with the help of his assistant Evelyn (Emily Barclay). OK mystery but it does stretch credulity as far as cold cases go.
The only nudity in this telemovie is in photos of the victim played by Ellouise Rothwell.

Sione's Wedding (NZ)
aka Samoan Wedding
Comedy about a group of life-long friends who call themselves the Duckrockers featuring white girl obsessed playboy Michael (Robbie Magasiva), desperately dateless Albert (Oscar Kightley), chat-line obsessed Stanley (Heto Ah Hi) and the only one with a girlfriend Sefa (Shimpal Lelisi). The friends love to party but they are pissing everyone off including Michael's brother Sione (Pua Magasiva) who tells the priest to ban the Duckrockers from his wedding because they've caused problems at previous weddings. The boys are annoyed but manage to convince the priest that they can come if they get 'reasonable' dates before the wedding. Well Sefa already has a girlfriend in Leilani (Teuila Blakely) so he's in except she's sick of his shit and dumps him. Michael goes through his phone rolodex looking for more than a one night stand while it looks hopeless for Albert; if only he'd notice his workmate Tania (Madeleine Sami) who has a crush on him. Albert's mother decides to intervene and brings in a cousin in Princess (Maryjane McKibbin-Schwenke) to take Albert then Michael catches her eye and puts that in jeopardy. Can the boys get dates for the wedding and not muck up? It's going to be a struggle. Fun light comedy that never really exerts itself but is pretty watchable.
Sort-of nudity from Maryjane McKibbin-Schwenke as she attempts to seduce a bloke but she is mostly covered by her hair. A video is available below.

Solo
First of the Australian Project Greenlight movies. Crime thriller where a notorious Sydney underworld hitman Jack (Colin Friels) is trying to get out of the game and he can if he kills a nosy university student Billie (Bojana Novakovic) who is doing her masters degree about local crime syndicates. Jack doesn't want to do this so he gets to know her and ends up taking a shine to her. Solid movie that's in steady hands with Friels while Novakovic is pretty good too. Has a nice twist in the end and is all about doing things the old way.
A couple of nude scenes from Angie Milliken plus some brief distant side-boob from Bojana Novakovic. I've made better videos from the movie which you can find below. You can find my previous collages here.

Stepfather of the Bride
ABC telemovie about the whitest family ever. Very much in love Skye (Lucy Taylor) and Scotsman Lachlan (Leon Ford) decide to get married but now the two of them have to get their two extended families to help pay for the wedding. And Skye wants a big wedding with costs blowing out to $60,000. Skye asks her mother Sophie (Noni Hazlehurst) and stepfather Daniel (William McInnes) but they don't have a lot and her father (Garry McDonald) is being stingy. Meanwhile their housemate/best friend/step brother Jack (Alex Dimitriades) has a major crush on Skye and is getting more annoyed the closer the wedding comes. Then Lachlan gets cold feet and grandma dies and it puts things in perspective. May be the most annoying movie I've seen in a while. Can't think of a movie I've been less interested in watching so I guess this wasn't made for me.
Brief nudity from Lucy Taylor and Anita Newton. I've made new videos from the movie which are available below. Previous collages are available here.

Stranded
One of the last of those 52 minute SBS telemovies that I barely remember except that I'm pretty sure Emily Browning and Emma Lung play sisters and I can't remember how that's explained.
No nudity in Stranded but I did make collages which you can find here.
Suburban Mayhem
Black comedy about Katrina (Emily Barclay), an incredibly toxic 19 year-old woman who may have had a hand in killing her father. Katrina is a whirlwind, causing damage wherever she goes and the police, mostly Andretti (Steve Bastoni) struggle to keep up with her. She's very close to her brother Danny (Laurence Breuls) who's in jail for killing a convenience store clerk (debut role for Stephen Peacocke) and she has a child with dubious parentage. She also has a feckless boyfriend in Rusty (Michael Dorman) who will do anything for her so when she gets sick of her father, Katrina convinces Rusty to bump him off and he gets his dumb friend Kenny (Anthony Hayes) to help him. But is Katrina clever enough to get away with it? Interesting story with a brilliant lead performance from Emily Barclay who dominates the movie and singlehandedly makes the movie better than it has any right to be. Everyone is left in her wake which means everyone else is forced to fend for scraps just to get attention. Debut movie for Mia Wasikowska who plays Katrina's 'friend' who she also uses and abuses.
Fairly lengthy nudity from Emily Barclay during a sex scene.

Ten Canoes
Rolf de Heer is back with this Indigenous drama told mostly in Indigenous languages with an English narration from David Gulpilil. A young Indigenous man is told a legend of his tribe while they make canoes. It is the story of Minygululu (Peter Minygululu) and his brother Yeeralparil (Jamie Gulpilil). Minygululu has three wives and Yeeralparil is annoyed because he'd like a wife and has his eye on Minygululu's young wife Munandjarra (Cassandra Malangarri Baker) who seems to reciprocate that longing. One day, one of Minygululu's wives disappears and this causes chaos within the tribe. No-one knows what happened to her so after taking honey loving tribal leader Birrinbirrin's (Richard Birrinbirrin) advice, he decides to take matters into his own hands and spears an outsider he thinks took his wife. Well, the dead man's brother wants tribal justice so Minygululu takes a spear in retalition and at first it looks like he'll live but an evil spirit is lurking and Minygululu ends up dying. Now Yeeralparil gets Minygululu's remaining wives but what happened to the missing wife? Interesting story, rare to see something like this in Australian cinema and of course Rolf de Heer is involved. The story is pretty basic and not a lot happens but it's never boring and it's interesting seeing how Indigenous people lived.
A fair bit of native nudity from the three wives played by Sonia Djarrabalminym, Cassandra Malangarri Baker and Frances Djulibing.

Voodoo Lagoon
Low rent horror movie where a bunch of college friends sign up for a bargain holiday to a remote island owned by the mysterious Ben (John Noble) who seems to be into voodoo. The workers on the island take a particular interest in siblings Carolina (Lara Cox) and 16 year-old Aaron (Lincoln Lewis) especially Penny (Erika Heynatz) who's all over Aaron like a rash. Ben starts to take out the weak members of the party by exposing them to their greatest fear but it seems that Aaron is being initiated into the island cult possibly because he's a virgin and prime for a voodoo sacrifice. But why are they so obsessed with Aaron and how does this involve Carolina. Movie gets off to a bad start when a character is forced into facing his greatest fear: being stabbed in the eyes with hot pokers and yeah I'm pretty sure that's everyone's worst nightmare. It never recovers from there with it's soap opera cast doing dicey American accents, annoying characters, a ridiculous plot particularly around Aaron and a lame late twist that just adds to how bad it is. Never released in Australia and it's not hard-to-see why.
Brief nudity from Natalie Blair and Erika Heynatz. This is a movie that needed way more nudity to have any interest beyond shitty teen horror. I've made new videos from the movie from an English language DVD (original videos were in German) that's not the best quality but that's about as good as it's going to get sadly. It would be nice to see Natalie Blair's scene in HD. Previous collages are available here.

Welcome Stranger
Low budget Melbourne drama where 18 year-old Adam (Christian Poppi) gets a phone call out-of-the-blue from Luke (Adam Scott, not any of the ones you're thinking of) who he hasn't seen since primary school and wants to him to come out for the evening. Adam accepts and meets him at Luke's dad's (John Brumpton) house and they share a bong together with Luke's dad (!) before going over to Luke's mother Sandra's (Suzanne Barr) house for a barbeque with her new partner Rodney (Andy McPhee) and Luke's sister Megan (Jo McKenzie) and her friends and boyfriend Paolo (Okan Husnu). As day turns into night, everyone get a bit more drunk and Megan, her friend and Paolo go off to a club while Luke fights with his mum and goes off to bed, leaving Adam all by himself. Sandra and Adam have a chat which leads to them having sex although it goes badly. Megan and Paolo come home and have sex and Adam hears them outside their window, so he rubs one out to it. In the morning, Adam enters Sandra's room and asks her to go out with him, which she is reluctant to do so and puts down their liaison to being a little drunk. Paolo hears them talking and all hell breaks loose with Adam chased out of the house. Slice of life drama that feels more than a bit odd, mainly due to why Adam was invited by Luke to hang out with his family as he looks completely out-of-place the entire time. It's never really explained why he was invited and when Luke sulks off to bed halfway through, it becomes more perplexing. Adam's just a horny kid and the mess he gets himself into in the end is probably the only notable thing about the movie and makes far more sense than his reason for being there. An interesting idea but feels very strange the entire time.

As always there's a bunch of movies that have nothing to cap in them including the boy band comedy BoyTown, rugby movie Footy Legends, war drama Kokoda, popular comedy Kenny, low budget thriller Watch Me, dramas Call Me Mum, Lost and Found and Modern Love, another Timothy Spanos camp comedy Nancy Nancy, thrillers The Last Resort and When Evil Reigns, sci-fi Battlespace and kids movies Elephant Tales and Opal Dream. There's also the New Zealand movies No. 2, Eight Broken Fingers, Out of the Blue, Perfect Creature, The Waimate Conspiracy and Wait Up Harriet that all have nothing to cap in them.
I haven't been able to find the following movies: And Sometimes They're Both, Convictions, Creatures of Creation, Curious, Darklovestory, The Desealer, Dusk, From Barbados with Love, Geoffrey Bagel, Moonfall, Perfect, Phase, Ra Choi, Red aka Traveller: Red, Reel Evil, Shadow of Sins, The Society Murders, Souvenir, Sweet FA, The Subject, Terminal Bliss, Wanda's Visit, Wango & Maloy, When Darkness Falls, Wil and Wishbone. I was able to find all New Zealand movies released this year.
Well, things have finally caught up with me and I haven't got started on the 2007 update yet as the 2005/2006 updates have taken a lot longer to finish than I was hoping so there will be no 2007 starting on Sunday. Hopefully it'll begin next Thursday but I still have 30-odd movies to look through or find, so who knows. Things are starting to ramp up so updates might slow down from here on in.
