Australian/New Zealand movies: 2000 part 1
Another good year for nudity (although most of the best nudity is in the second update) with a couple of big entries from Susie Porter (including Better Than Sex in this update). There's also good nudity in Innocence and the New Zealand movie Exposure plus a great scene from Abi Tucker in Angst and the best nudity Rose Byrne ever did.
2000
After the Rain
Don't know much about this telemovie apart from it's possibly the first production made for Australian Pay-TV (there were a bunch of movies that were co-financed by the Showtime Channel but this is it's first exclusive). Looks like a mystery thriller starring Robert Taylor and Paulina Porizkova.
I could only find a copy of this movie overdubbed into Russian so it's pretty useless watching. No nudity in it but a striptease from Lyrae Kelaher and Paulina Porizkova has her underpants taken off.

Angst
Slacker comedy about people living in a share house in Sydney. Dean (Sam Lewis) works at a video store and is writing horror movie screenplay as life passes him by. Ian (Justin Smith) works at a King's Cross sex shop because he's a failed stand-up comedian. Jade (Jessica Napier) is unemployed with not much going on except trying to dump her ever persistent boyfriend. All are about to have small life-changing moments that will help them get out of their ruts. Dean meets May (Abi Tucker), a goth, who helps him move on from his previous girlfriend. Ian goes to a party hosted by his old school buddy Barnesy (Tim Campbell) who convinces him to give stand-up one more try. Jade takes a liking to Mole (Luke Lennox), a teenage junkie who Jade convinces the boys to take in after he fails to rob the sex store where Ian works and tries to help him out, even after he steals their precious VCR. OK film with some funny moments but the slacker genre, particularly as late as this entry is, dated incredibly quickly and this movie is a prime example of it.
Great nude scene from Abi Tucker, wish this movie had got a DVD/HD release for better quality but it seems to have been lost to time. Also brief side-boob from Jessica Napier as she flashes her breasts.
You can find a synopsis with collages and VHS quality videos from Angst here. A preview is below.

Better Than Sex
One night stand romance movie where after a night out, Josh (David Wenham) ends up back at Cin's (Susie Porter) and they hit it off so well, he doesn't want to leave and even when he does, he ends up back at Cin's for more talk and sex. That's about it for it's 80 minute run time. Enjoyable for what it is and both Wenham and Porter are pretty affable throughout.
Extensive nudity from Susie Porter who went on a helluva run of nudity during this period of time (see The Monkey's Mask in the next update).
You can find a synopsis with collages and videos from Better Than Sex here. A preview is below.

Beware of Greeks Bearing Guns
Cross-cultural comedy where after 50-odd years, a Greek family find the whereabouts of a man they swore a vendetta against and send a member of that family Manos (Lakis Lazopoulos), a meek teacher, to perform that vendetta which pisses off his highly charged twin brother George (also Lakis Lazopoulos). Once in Australia, Manos is greeted by Stephanos (John Bluthal) who lets him stay at his house which pisses off Stephanos's daughter and Manos's fiery long lost love Nicki (Zoe Carides) who doesn't want to see him again. Manos has no intention of performing the vendetta and in the meantime goes along with the charade while forming a bond with Nicki's daughter Katerina (Claudia Buttazzoni) who may be his daughter that he never knew. George gets upset that nothing is happening so he comes to Australia to finish the vendetta while trying to hide from Nicki for some reason. Silly comedy that isn't all that funny and everything plotwise goes exactly how you'd expect. Seems to have done better in Greece than in Australia where it was mostly ignored which is strange considering the quite large Greek expat population here.
No nudity in Beware of Greeks Bearing Gun and barely anything worth capping but there's a video from the movie available here.
Bootmen
Based on the hit stage show, a light comedy about two brothers Sean (Adam Garcia) and Mitchell (Sam Worthington on debut), who both work in the steel mill in Newcastle with their dad and in their spare time they do some tap dancing. A big city choreographer comes to the local studio and Sean and Mitchell are asked to audition for a show in Sydney and Sean, ever the showboat, ruins it for everyone by improvising. Afterwards, Sean is 'improvising' to impress local hairdresser Linda (Sophie Lee) and the choreographer has a change of heart and casts him in the show. Sean's 'improvising' in the show to impress the lead dancer's girl gets him fired, just as Mitchell sleeps with Linda and Sean, of course, finds out. With nothing much else to do, Sean devises a plan to set up his own tap show that will go around the country and gets some of the local tappers together. Eventually, Sean and Linda make up and so do Sean and Mitchell which means Mitchell can join the dance troupe. Everything is going well, but an ongoing feud between Mitchell and a local hothead Huey (Anthony Hayes) has tragic consequences which will put the show on hold indefinitely, until the steel mill is to be shut down. So much tap dancing in this movie but it's not gay, no siree, only the movie spends the entire time desperately telling you that tapdancing isn't gay and it is embarrassing to watch. Just fucking dance, who cares? Otherwise the movie is by-the-numbers, you know every beat exactly when it happens. It's not gay alright...
No nudity in Bootmen but there's some sexy scenes featuring Sophie Lee which you can see in collages and videos available here.
City Loop
Another slacker comedy, this one funded by SBS Independent/Channel 4 Britain. Set over one night in Brisbane, it follows six workers (3 men, 3 women) at a pizza shop. Can't remember much more than that but it does have a cast full of actors that would go onto better things particularly all the male leads. Otherwise pretty forgettable and not really all that funny.
Megan Dorman briefly flashes her bottom in a mooning scene where it's debated afterwards whether it's OK for women to moon someone. Possibly not her. Anyway there's a decent underwear scene from Jessica Napier which won't be the last from her this year.
You can find a synopsis with collages and videos from City Loop here. A preview is below.

Clare (NZ)
Telemovie that's pretty impossible to find but there's a brief clip of it on NZ OnScreen and in that clip is a brief moment where we see Robyn Malcolm's bottom. Don't know about the rest of the movie.

Cut
Awful South Australian-made horror movie about a group of collage students that decide to finish a horror movie that was abandoned after the original director (Kylie Minogue) was killed. The students even get the original star Vanessa (Molly Ringwald) back despite the massive bout of PTSD she has about the movie. The students, led by the director Raffy (Jessica Napier) head back to where the original movie was shot in a house in the middle-of-nowhere. Turns out the movie is cursed and once the movie is shown on screen, the killings start again and continue during the production of the movie. Oh don't worry, you'll never guess the killer in a million years because it's so stupid you need to see it to believe it. Just a bad, bad movie and not even the killings redeem it.
No nudity in Cut but there's some sexy scenes which you can find here.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Canadian co-production set in Hong Kong that was a pilot for a TV show that never happened. An American surgeon Dr. Jekyll (Adam Baldwin) goes to Hong Kong for his honeymoon with his wife (Karen Cliche) and gets embroiled in a gang turf war when local gang leader Ah Yee (Jason Chong) forces Jekyll to save one of his gang or he'll kill him. Well the gang member dies and Jekyll escapes but not for long and he and his wife are blown up. Magically, Jekyll survives and is brought back to health with traditional Chinese medicine by Dr. Chau (Tseng Chang). But the traditional medicine turns Jekyll into a volcanically angry monster looking for revenge. Looks like they spent a bit a money on this pilot and it's full of Australian actors (also Canadian actors) so that suggests some of it was made in Australia. Interesting twist on the Jekyll/Hyde story although Baldwin doesn't have leading man chops and is badly miscast in this.
Brief nudity from Karen Cliche.

Exposure (NZ)
David Blyth directed B-grade thriller where reclusive Gary (Ron Silver), a former war photographer haunted by the death of his girlfriend Elena (Miriama Smith), finds a naked woman entangled in nets in his boat shed. It is Elaine (Susan Pari), who ended up in the boat shed after she jumped off a boat to get away from her abusive boyfriend. Gary helps her out and Elaine comes back to return the clothes he gave her and notices that he's has a bunch of sexy photos he's shot and Elaine is interested and they decide to do a quick photo shoot. Gary shows it to his friend Paul (Paul Gittins) and he's impressed and gets Gary to do another photo shoot with Elaine for his 'sophisticated' men's magazine IQ, which she agrees to. It's a hit but then Elaine finds herself with unwarranted attention which she puts down to her shitty boyfriend and boss Brad (Timothy Balme) until Gary finds her dead when he becomes concerned about her safety. Well, the bodies continue to pile up so it's probably not Brad and then the killer sets their sights on Gary. But who is the killer and can it be the most unlikely person who you never know about until a dumbarse priest (Kevin J. Wilson) manages to work it out? Silly murder-mystery that picks the killer out of a hat and the answer is near impossible to predict. Ron Silver is strangely subdued and Alexandra Paul is barely in the movie until the second half where her character is hamfistedly brought together with Silver's for the ridiculous ending.
Susan Pari has a number of nude scenes while there are numerous flashes of nudity from Miriama Smith throughout the movie, never more than a few seconds at a time.

The Goddess of 1967
Strange drama from Hong Kong director Clara Law. A Japanese man only known as JM (Rikiya Kurokawa) is looking for a 'Goddess', a 1967 Citroën DS and finds one in Australia. When he arrives at the house of the owner, he finds BG (Rose Byrne), a blind teenage girl who tells him that her parents killed each other in a fight over how much they were going to stiff JM. BG tells him that he can get the car if he takes her on a trip to the middle-of-nowhere to see her grandfather that will take 5 days. He agrees and she dumps her younger sister and they go on a road trip where they discover one another and we discover various moments in BG's life which uncover why she wants to go on this trip: to kill her grandfather (Nicolas Hope) for abusing her. One part black comedy, one part incredibly odd drama but typically unusual if you've watched Law's previous movies (including Floating Life). Not a lot happens and most of what does is very grim even with the bouts of humour. A very strange experience.
A lengthy nude scene from Rose Byrne, her only really proper one although she has quite a few sort of/brief nude scenes. I've made new videos from the movie which you can find below. You can find my previous collages here.

Ihaka: Blunt Instrument
Channel 10 telemovie where tough Auckland cop Tito Ihaka (Temuera Morrison, his third Australian telemovie) goes too far once too often and he's sent to Sydney for a non-existent symposium into police tactics so that he can be their problem for a few weeks. He is teamed up with Federal Police desk jockey detective Kirsty (Rebecca Gibney) and they go looking into old cases and come across one involving the murder of a groupie of a fading rock star who's just offered $100,000 to find her killer. Ihaka's no desk jockey so he gets Kirsty out and they go and try and solve the case, much to the disgust of her boss (Linal Haft) because Ihaka can't stop getting into trouble. And with this case they've run into more trouble than it's probably worth. Plays light-heartedly with little jokey asides between Ihaka and Kirsty throughout and both Morrison and Gibney work well together despite the incredibly ridiculous way the case is handled with no arrests, another dead body and more silliness along the way.
An anonymous groupie shows her breasts in one scene while there's a few sexy scenes involving Rebecca Gibney and Olivia Pigeot. Videos from the telemovie are below.

Innocence
First of Paul Cox's South Australian movies (although there are scenes set at Flinders Street Station in Melbourne also some scenes are shot in Belgium). Elderly Andreas (Charles 'Bud' Tingwell) decides to get in touch with his first love Claire (Julia Blake) just to see her and when they meet, the spark of 40 years previous is reignited and they fall in love again despite Claire being married to John (Terry Norris). Both are reborn and Claire doesn't even bother to hide it, telling her husband she's met with her ex and slept with him but he doesn't believe her and gets his doctor son (Robert Menzies) to check if she hasn't gone 'mad'. Then Andreas falls ill and is close to dying so Claire decides to leave her husband to spend his final days with Andreas which completely throws John who starts following her to see what she's doing. Very good movie about first love rekindled as last love although the ending is a bit hokey and undeserved. Good performances from the three veteran leads carry it to be one of Cox's best known movies.
A bit of nudity from Belgian actress Kristine Van Pellicom playing the younger Claire and some brief nudity from Angela Noack.

The Irrefutable Truth About Demons (NZ)
Cult thriller where anthropologist and part-time cult buster Harry Ballard (Karl Urban) receives a video tape of a cult meeting that he doesn't have much interest in but when he goes home for the night he is accosted by an odd young woman, Bennie (Katie Wolfe), with an offer of assistance which he dismisses. He is then kidnapped by a group of weirdos and barely escapes before they can do something and finds his way to his girlfriend Celia (Sally Stockwell) who helps him. During the night, she is murdered in his home and a message is left in blood on the wall that he did it then his assistant is murdered when doing some checking. That is when he meets the cult leader in the tape, Le Valliant (Jonathon Hendry), but before he can take Harry, Bennie drags Harry away and tells him that she was in this cult with Harry's recently deceased brother and that she can help him against Le Valliant. Then the strangest thing happens; he sees the very dead Celia walking into his apartment and she convinces him that he's been dreaming the last couple of days. It's about to become clear that it's all been very real and he is been played for a fool, but by who? Baffling movie about 'demons' wanting to live forever with a surprisingly nasty tone. The final act is so bizarre, lots of pulling hearts of the people's chests and some fairly full-on scenes. I really don't know about this movie, a truly bizarre movie.
Some brief nudity from Katie Wolfe plus Clarinda Kwee shows her breasts with tape over her nipples.

Looking for Alibrandi
Teen drama based on a book a lot of kids would've been forced to read. School girl Josie Alibrandi (Pia Miranda) is doing her final year at of high school at a Catholic girl's school. Her life is going to change dramatically with the arrival of her absent father Michael (Anthony LaPaglia), who wants back in Josie's life. She also finds herself in a love triangle with two boys: rebellious Jacob (Kick Gurry) who rides a motorcycle much to the chagrin of Josie's mother Christina (Greta Scacchi) and troubled John (Matthew Newton). It's a fairly good book and the movie is pretty representative of it so it's a good watch. Was unsurprisingly popular in it's year of release.
No nudity in Looking for Alibrandi but there's some sexy stuff from Pia Miranda including collages available here.
The Magicians
Like After the Rain, this was taken from a Russian overdub so I wasn't able to watch it. Something about an American magician who comes to Brisbane and ends up fighting an evil cult.
No nudity in The Magicians but there's a lengthy scene featuring Kimberley Davies in her underwear.

Australian/New Zealand movies: 1999 part 3
Final update for 1999 and while most of the best nudity for this year has been covered in previous updates there's still good nudity in Soft Fruit, Terra Nova and the New Zealand movie Savage Honeymoon.
1999
Savage Honeymoon (NZ)
Comedy about the Savage family who are going through a rough patch. Mickey (Nicholas Eadie) has had his motorcycle stolen and he's too busy with his schemes to pay attention to his wife Louise (Perry Piercy), who's becoming more frustrated with him. Their son Dean (Craig Hall) is back home and depressed because after a motorcycle accident his girlfriend left him and today is day she is getting married to someone else. Mickey gets the motorcycle back which is good news for daughter Leesa (Sophia Hawthorne), who is desperate to ride a motorcycle and as soon as it gets home, she takes Dean and rides off to his ex's wedding to cause a little trouble. Mickey decides to cheer everyone up by having a party which goes well for everyone except their neighbours until Leesa screams home on the motorcycle with the cops on her tail and they manage to stall the cops long enough for Mickey to hide the stolen goods and motorcycle in the caravan and then go on an impromptu second honeymoon with Louise and they bring Dean along to cheer him up. Leesa and Mickey's mother Maisy (Elizabeth Hawthorne) have sneakily joined them. Mickey looks to relive old times with Louise but he is constantly distracted so she takes off with old friend Rhys (Bruce Hopkins), who's always had a thing for her. Can Mickey save his marriage? Fun movie that is basically a forerunner to the New Zealand TV show Outrageous Fortune. Plays out a lot like a sitcom and is all a bit convenient but there's a few laughs along the way and the mood is mostly good silly fun.
Sophia Hawthorne is shows her breasts in a couple of scenes while Perry Piercy also briefly shows her breasts.

Secret Men's Business
A rare 90s ABC telemovie after making an extensive catalogue of them through the 70s and 80s. A group of school friends from an all boys school get together after the death of a favourite teacher for a weekend of reflection at the teacher's beach house in Byron Bay. Doug (Ben Mendelsohn) is the closest to the teacher and is drifting in life and his marriage. Michael (Marcus Graham) is a massive arsehole who is running for pre-selection in a safe seat and seems intent on 'bagging' at least one of the women he saw on the beach. Andy (Simon Baker) is a frustrated actor who's moved away from city and is in a relationship with an older woman. Ian (Jeremy Callaghan) seems to be the odd one out with members of the group not remembering him plus he seems to have a happy marriage. Finally, Warwick (Jeremy Sims) skips the funeral and arrives late and is probably an even bigger rich arsehole than Michael. Tensions develop between the friends then after the fail to save the life of a drowning man who may have killed himself, things get even more strained. But one more revelation will fracture the friendship of two of the friends completely and utterly for the foreseeable future. OK movie with an insanely good cast that is a rare exploration of men's feelings. Lots of men getting something off their chest so it's full of yelling and threats of violence. Has some really good scenes mostly around the drowning man which really opens things up. Mendelsohn's character doesn't have much to do until the final revelation. Joel Edgerton turns up as a hotheaded bikie looking for trouble. Still, it feels a bit underdone and may have worked better as a longer mini-series.
VIrginia Hookham and Rebecca McLeod both show their breasts while Maya Stange and Tara Jakszewicz are both in bikinis as the two of only three female characters that have anything to do other than look pretty. Stange has great nude scenes in In A Savage Land and so does Jakszewicz in 15 Amore.

Siam Sunset
Oddball comedy, actor John Polson's debut as director that was a surprise hit. Perry (British actor Linus Roache) is a paint designer whose wife dies in a freak refrigerator falling from the sky accident and begins to get stuck at work desperately trying to make the colour Siam Sunset. Grace (Danielle Cormack in her first Australian role) is desperate to get away from her psycho boyfriend (Ian Bliss), so she steals his money and car and drives as far as she can away from him. Meanwhile, Perry wins a trip to Australia and is forced to take it but it turns out it's a trip on a shitty tour bus with a ragtag bunch of tourists. On the way to their destination, they comes across Grace who has broken down and she joins the bus. When the bus breaks down in the middle of nowhere, the ragtag bunch make their way to a rundown hotel where they camp because most have no money, except for Grace. Just as Grace and Perry look like getting together, along comes her boyfriend wanting her back. Not a bad movie filled with many odd moments which is where most of the comedy in the movie derives. It's mostly unbelievable but is pretty solid as a romantic comedy. Also for an Australian movie there's an awful lot of New Zealand actors in it.
Brief nudity from Victoria Hill (who had a body double in Dead End) and Deidre Rubenstein.

Soft Fruit
Another oddball comedy, this time a darker comedy about a family who arrive back at the family home after their matriarch Patsy (Jeanie Drynan) announces that she's dying. Her husband Vic (Linal Haft) is pretty much useless so their three daughters Josie (Geneviève Lemon), Nadia (Sacha Horler) and Vera (Alicia Talbot) come home while their wayward brother Bo (Russell Dykstra) arrives after a stint in prison. Josie, who has arrived home from America, is doing most of the work and feels underappreciated while Nadia is incredibly horny and likes to pop off to continue a fling she's having. As their mother's condition deteriorates and they prepare for her death, we find that the relationships between the siblings and their father become closer or more strained. Pretty full on stuff about dying and a family that is on the larger side so that plays a fairly big part of the plot. Basically a dysfunctional family comedy that's a lot rougher than the usual movies of it's type.
A couple of nude scenes from Sacha Horler including full frontal nudity.

Sacha Horler in Soft Fruit
Spank
Adelaide-set Italian/Australian comedy where Paulie (Robert Mammone) arrives back in town after spending three years in a monastery and meets up with old friend Nick (Mario Gamma) who runs a café and gets a job there. The cafe is owned by Rocky (Vince Poletto), a Sylvester Stallone-obsessed wannabe thug who doesn't have time for his dying father and is only interested in keeping up appearances which includes treating his girlfriend Jo (Victoria Dixon-Whittle) like crap. Rocky has harangued the Chinese restaurant down the street out and wants to turn it into a café but the owners of the shop decide to set-up a café of their own with the help of the Tina (Lucia Mastrantone) who really runs Rocky's café along with her brother. Well, Jo falls for Paulie, but she has the problem of Rocky who she's never going to be rid of but she finally dumps him when he's distracted by the race to open his new café before Tina and her brother. Rocky's distraction also helps Jo and Paulie get together but Rocky is still determined to get rid of who Jo is dating. Then the race to open the cafés turning into a complicated mess of loyalties, scams and double-crosses until the police get involved. Broad comedy and by broad I mean every ethnic stereotype is mined and exaggerated. Rocky's so over-the-top he's beyond caricature. Not a lot of subtlety in the movie with only Jo and Paulie's relationship being the only thing not overdone. Interesting to see Rolf de Heer as producer of this movie as it's not even in the same ball park as any of his movies. Not really funny and an obvious cash-in on the 'Wog' craze at the time, Spank is a complete misfire.
No real nudity in Spank but there's a poster of Victoria Dixon-Whittle topless with her hands in boxing gloves covering her breasts.

Strange Fits of Passion
Black comedy about She (Michela Noonan), a twentysomething woman who works in a bookstore and is a virgin desperate to find love and have sex but is not having a lot of luck. She finds solace in her gay best friend Jimmy (Mitchell Butel) but doesn't stop trying to find a man to be with which usually ends in disaster. After one drunken night with Jimmy, She and Jimmy have a failed attempt at sex which strains their relationship, furthermore when She gets with Josh (Samuel Johnson) and finally loses her virginity in yet another disaster. We get a lot of movies about boys losing their virginity, not a lot about girls/women and this one makes an interesting go at. Michela Noonan does a pretty good job portraying the awkwardness of it all. The movie is also very 90s and very Melbourne, particularly inner city Melbourne.
Brief nudity from Michela Noonan and there's also a few underwear scenes.

Strange Planet
Follow-up and final (so far) movie for Love and Other Catastrophes wunderkind Emma-Kate Croghan. Romantic comedy that follows three women Judy (Claudia Karvan), Alice (Naomi Watts) and Sally (Alice Garner) and three men Ewan (Tom Long), Joel (Aaron Jeffery) and Neil (Felix Williamson) over the space of a year in their romantic lives. One of those contrived romantic comedies where the result is never really in doubt and it's isn't all that funny either. Croghan's obsession with Scorsese continues, this time an obsession with Taxi Driver, that isn't even inspired and feels incredibly lazy. There's also not one believable male character in the movie as they all seem to talk like women. A disappointing movie considering Love and Other Catastrophes is still a pretty decent movie.
No nudity in Strange Planet but there's a few sexy scenes which you can find here.
Terra Nova
Dark, brooding drama set mostly in a dilapidated Sydney boarding house. Ruth (Jeanette Cronin) and her daughter Tuesday escape her parents and New Zealand and head to Sydney for a new life. They hide is a rundown boarding house named Terra Nova run by no-nonsense Margie (Angela Punch McGregor) who's having a fling with one of the boarders Simon (Paul Kelman). Also in the boarding out are Dud (Trent Atkinson) and neo-Nazi skinhead Warren (Teo Gebert) who makes his presence felt by stealing Ruth's stuff as she goes to a job interview. SImon wants Warren out but Margie doesn't seem to have a problem with him. Ruth and Simon begin a clandestine relationship but Simon has problems in the bed which becomes an issue. Also Ruth can't escape the thoughts in her head and fears her parents will come for Tuesday. Depressing movie where everyone is on edge and nothing good seems to happen plus there seems to be no world outside of this horrible boarding house. The acting is mostly pretty good except the neo-Nazi is an annoying character and the story isn't worth the time. Nothing ever really happens and the drama is barely worth worrying about. No wonder the movie's almost impossible to find.
A couple of full frontal nude scenes from Jeanette Cronin plus a brief nude scene from Angela Punch McGregor. The videos are pretty small so it's hard-to-see much in the Punch McGregor video.

Two Hands
Excellent, very Australian crime comedy with break out roles for Heath Ledger and Rose Byrne (geez, both were only 18 when this was made). Jimmy (Heath Ledger) is a spruiker for a local strip club who's a good boxer and catches the eye of local kingpin Pando (Bryan Brown) who gives Jimmy his first job to deliver $10,000 to a go-between. This sets off a series of incidents that within half-an-hour will make Jimmy go from 'Golden Boy' to on-the-run from Pando and his gang. He stupidly loses the money when two homeless thieves steal it and he runs to his sister Deirdre (Susie Porter) for help. He decides to do a bank job to get the money back but does he have the guts to go through with it. Also, Jimmy meets country girl Alex (Rose Byrne) and they sort-of hit it off instantly but this becomes complicated with Pando and his gang chasing him around town. Hadn't watched this movie since it's release and I'd forgotten how funny it is and how good both Ledger and Bryan Brown are in it. Just a well-made crime comedy, one that has been often copied in Australia but never bettered.

Waste
Another of those Video Ezy low budget releases. Brisbane-made slacker comedy where Max (Jon Halpin) and Joel (Paul Denny) are housemates and best friends who smoke dope and watch an awful lot of 70s/80s sci-fi. Max has just lost his job which is great timing because his long suffering girlfriend Bhaja (Caroline Dunphy) is pregnant with their baby and want him to finally settle down. Max seems non-committal to his future which alarms Bhaja but he comes around and he and Joel decide to sell his collection of sci-fi/comic book collectibles to get money for the future. That's where Max meets Mandy (Rachel Forsyth), a fellow comic enthusiast whose very interested in Max but he finds himself loyal to Bhaja. Also Max's father Mr.Joe (Wayne Pygram) help him navigate his future despite thinking his son is a wuss. Bhaja also confides in her friends and her mother (Liddy Clark) who thinks she's with Max to spite her. Max and Joel get over $10,000 for all the things they do only they forgot that they owe a crazy pair of dope dealers money and they take everything they have. Silly comedy, pretty typical of slacker/stoner comedies and a lot of the movie is pretty uninspired but there's a few funny moments towards the end when the duo and Max's father get revenge on the dope dealers. Otherwise nothing you haven't seen a thousand times before.
No real nudity in Waste, a bit of side-boob from Rachel Forsyth but not much at all.

What Becomes of the Broken Hearted? (NZ)
Follow-up to Once Were Warriors, nowhere near the intensity of that masterpiece and a definite step down from that. This time we follow Jake The Muss (Temuera Morrison) after his family has abandoned him. When their oldest son Nig (Julian Arahanga), a gang leader, is killed in a double-cross by a rival gang, his brother Sonny (Clint Eruera) wants revenge against Apeman (Pete Smith) and wants his father's help but Jake doesn't have that fire in his belly anymore and tries to steer his son clear of his brother's fate. Meanwhile, Jake finds some new meaning in his life by attempting to give up alcohol and hanging out with two brothers who love pig hunting. Also Mulla (Rawiri Paratene), a former gang member who's just been released from prison, tries to tread a line between going straight and re-joining the gang. Not a bad movie, just different from Once Were Warriors but it just doesn't have the juice that movie has. Plus it's mostly missing the two female characters played by Rena Owen (who's fantastic in the original and barely in this movie) and the teenage daughter who made a big impact. The movie does heat up when Jake finally boils over and takes on the gang by himself.
Tahei Simpson shows her breasts during a sex scene.

Without Warning
Another of those dumped Channel 9 telemovies. Megan (Arkie Whiteley) gets caught in an extortion plot from psycho traffic cop Arch (Steve Bastoni) who has a sideline in extorting money from people he pulls over by threatening to release their darkest secrets. Has a baffling plot involving Arch always talking about his computer which ends up being the thing that is his undoing. Another forgettable telemovie to add to the list.
Arkie Whiteley brief shows her bottom while in the shower.
You can find a synopsis with videos from Without Warning here. A preview is below.
Arkie Whiteley in Without Warning
As always there's a bunch of movies with nothing to cap including Sydney brother drama Erskineville Kings, teen dancing drama Kick, comedies The Big Night Out, Caffiene and Bigger Than Tina, oil rig drama Dogwatch, awful mystical mystery The Missing, Paul Cox directed biopic Molokai: The Story of Father Damien, German co-production Die Millennium-Katastrophe: Computer-Crash 2000, American co-production Komodo, kids movie Sally Marshall Is Not an Alien, another Jacqueline Bisset telemovie Witch Hunt and a movie about Tibetan monks wanting to watch the World Cup, Phörpa. There was a bikini scene featuring a bunch of random people in Paulie Fenech's debut movie Somewhere in the Darkness which wasn't worth capping. There's also nothing to cap in the New Zealand movies Uncomfortable Comfortable and black comedy Scarfies.
I wasn't able to find the following movies: Change of Heart, Game Room, Huntsman 5.1, another Video Ezy release Murrabinna, Shooting Blanks and the New Zealand movies The Lunatics' Ball, Nightmare Man and Wild Blue.
That's it for the 90s and the 20th century, so I will tot up how many scene each actress did for the 1990s. Here's the list:
6 Claudia Karvan
5 Gosia Dobrowolska, Miranda Otto
4 Angie Milliken
3 Kerry Fox, Rachel Griffiths, Pamela Rabe, Vanessa Steele
And the cumulative total for the 20th century includes:
12 Wendy Hughes
7 Gosia Dobrowolska
6 Claudia Karvan, Miranda Otto, Judy Morris
5 Jacki Weaver, Abigail, Kris McQuade, Angela Menzies-Wills
4 Alyson Best, Anna Maria Monticelli, Angie Milliken
The first decade of the 2000s is a bit of a mixed bag, a lot like the 1990s were. They'll be some good years and some ordinary years. 2000 looks like being a two update year.

Australian/New Zealand movies: 1999 part 2
The hits keep coming in 1999 with decent nudity in Holy Smoke from Kate Winslet and In A Savage Land plus a bunch of movies with decent nude scenes in them. There's also a few incredibly obscure movies in this update which are lucky to have become available.
1999
Fresh Air
Barely remember this movie, something about three young artists, Jack (Marin Mimica), Kit (Nadine Garner) and E (Bridie Carter) who live together and are very artistic plus they fall in love with one another. One of those early million dollar SBS independent movies that are about to come up in upcoming updates.
Only nudity in the movie is from Bridie Carter showing her breasts in a Polaroid. Pretty sure this is the only nudity she's ever done.
You can find a synopsis with VHS quality videos from Fresh Air here. A preview is below.

Holy Smoke
Jane Campion moves away from period pieces and back to the Australian suburbs via the middle of nowhere. Ruth (Kate Winslet) goes to India for a holiday and finds spiritual enlightenment with a cult and decides to stay permanently. Her mother goes to India to get her back, lying to Ruth that her father is sick but this and a spell her mother has gets her home. The family calls in the best cult deprogrammer in America, PJ Waters (Harvey Keitel) and he takes Ruth to the middle of nowhere to work his magic. But Ruth is about to prove quite a challenge for PJ, so much so that he falls for her and then goes further to the point that he may be a fraud. I have some big problems with this movie not in the least the Ruth-PJ relationship, which doesn't feel earned at all. It just sort of happens out of nowhere. PJ's transformation is totally unbelievable until it ends in him wearing a dress and professing love for Ruth's cult leader even though he knows little about him. A strange misfire from Campion although Winslet's Australian accent is near flawless.
Full frontal nudity from Kate Winslet in a couple of scenes plus another scene where her dress rides up and she's not wearing underwear. Also underwear/bikini scenes from Sophie Lee.
I've found a new Bluray of the movie so I've decided to redo the HD videos from the movie which you'll find below. You can find a synopsis with collages and fullscreen videos from Holy Smoke here.

In a Savage Land
Bill Bennett moves into epic drama. Two married anthropologists Phillip (Martin Donovan) and Evelyn (Maya Stange) get funding to go to research in the Trobriand Islands, a part of New Guinea as World War II is breaking out. Helped by local ex-pats Gerry (Andrew S. Gilbert) and the local tribespeople they get deep into the local culture. Then friendly pearl trader Mick Carpenter (Rufus Sewell) arrives and he catches the eye of Evelyn. Then a series of events such as Mick taking Evelyn to see a remote tribe followed by Phillip being hexed, attacked, pissed on and then eventually dying from the assault by the tribeswomen leads to Mick and Evelyn becoming closer as Evelyn goes through a long mourning process. War comes to New Guinea and things become even more complicated. OK but languid drama and it's hard to get excited about anthropology but it's not too bad with the real anthropology ends up being on the white folk. The love story takes a while to get going and as far a sweeping epics go, it's a bit weak and it's hard to not wonder why Evelyn was interested in Phillip in the first place as he seems like a bit of a wet blanket.
Maya Stange shows her breasts, bottom and a hint of pubic hair over a few scenes.

In the Red
Car action movie set in Sydney about gang leader Dyno (Damian Bradford), who is shot up at his home by a rival who wants his turf. The cops know who it was and arrest the rival but let him go as they try to get him on something bigger. With his gang, Dymo goes about tracking down who is responsible and getting revenge. Thankfully there's plenty of hotted up cars in fairly well done car chases because the rest of the film is absolutely fucking awful. The lead actor is a complete block of wood and his gang are hardly worth cheering for. Terry Serio is OK as the rival and it's good to see him behind the wheel again after 80s cult classic Running on Empty, but his role is barely written and he doesn't have much to do. Another for the list of worst Australian movies.
Very brief nudity from Alison Cratchley and obscured nudity from Vanessa Steele in the final scene of the movie that's so gratuitous I was glad to see this after what happened before it.

Lawless (NZ)
Telemovie series about private investigator John Lawless (Kevin Smith, who tragically died in 2002 in a stunt gone wrong). He is working to take down local drug lord Terry (Joel Tobeck) but he is double-crossed and now a suspect in a murder he didn't commit. Stock-standard mystery telemovie in a series that they made 3 of.
Brief nip slip outside of her bra from Tahei Simpson. In the next update she'll have far better nudity in What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted?

Living Colour
Low budget Queensland made thriller about Molly (Kim Denman) who arrives home from the hospital with friend Dougle (Brisbane Bullets basketball star Derek Rucker) after she was attacked by her psychotic husband Christian (Michael Knowles), Their newborn is still in hospital with an unknown illness but Molly tries to pick up the piece at home. Then Christian arrives back at the house in a murderous mood and Molly must placate the deranged Christian while keeping him apart from Dougle. Also there's some question about who is the father of the baby and honestly considering it's between and white man and a black man, how is it a question? Terrible movie, poorly plotted and written but Kim Denman does a decent job holding it all together considering how unbelievably awful Michael Knowles is as a deranged individual. Every decision he makes is to go incredibly crazy and it's horrible to watch. Compared to him, basketballer Rucker is actually OK. Just a bad, bad movie.
Strangely the producer uploaded the movie to YouTube but from a VHS recording of possibly it's only showing anywhere. Wouldn't a producer have an original copy? Don't know why I put this in 1999 except for the IMDB listing as everywhere else including the end of the movie lists it as made in 1992. Ah well...

Magik and Rose (NZ)
Comedy drama where phony psychic Magik (Alison Bruce) arrives from the city to a small town called Hokitika looking for a change of lifestyle and a daughter she gave up for adoption. Meanwhile, Rose (Nicola Murphy) and her husband Stuart (Simon Ferry) have been trying for a baby for years and it's just not happening. Rose goes to Magik for some psychic reassurance about her getting pregnant which Magik 'tricks' her into believing and then when it doesn't happen, Rose drunkenly confronts Magik and it strangely starts a new friendship between the two. Magik comes across Erica (Florence Hartigan) who she thinks is her daughter and tries to make an impression on her. Rose and Stuart split up after they argue about going on an IVF program. Then Magik and Rose hatch a plan to advertise for donors for Rose's baby and end up with a fairly large list to choose from. Very light comedy about a very silly idea but the movie is mostly playful and a fairly easy watch.
Nicola Murphy briefly shows her breasts while there's further sexy stuff from Alison Bruce which you can find in the videos below.

Me Myself I
All-the-rage 'Sliding Doors' drama where successful thirtysomething writer Pamela (Rachel Griffiths) is desperate to find a man to love. The one man she did like, Robert (David Roberts), has moved on and has a family of his own which she is envious of. Pamela meets P.E. teacher Ben (Sandy Winton) and seems to have a spark with him but before she can go on a date, Pamela has an accident. While in a coma, she meets her doppelgänger who married Robert and when she wakes, she is now married to Robert with three kids (oldest daughter played by Yael Stone). At first, Pamela is lost as to how to be a mother but when Robert arrives back from his trip, she successfully tries to revive their sexual relationship. Then Pamela meets Ben in this world, now a sports writer and she begins an affair with him and starts to wain on Robert. When Robert attempts to reaffirm his love for her, Pamela has a choice to make: stay with Robert or go back to her old life and improve herself. A fairly saucy drama where Pamela brings some of her bad habits from her actual life and brings them to her alternate life while learning a few things about herself. Otherwise the plot is fairly standard and is very similar to The Family Man (which actually came out a year later), family life is better than the single life and must be obtained no matter what. Also the movie doesn't even try with the changeover, just some tossed off scene where both Pamela's meet one another, no reason given as to why or how they meet or even change back. A pretty modest effort.
Rachel Griffiths shows her bottom in a couple of scenes.

Paperback Hero
Romantic comedy where Jack (Hugh Jackman) is a truck driver who writes romance novels on the side but when he gets interest in a something he's written, he decides to use the name of his best friend Ruby (Claudia Karvan) to avoid being made fun of. A publisher, Ziggy (Angie Milliken), comes to the outback town where they live and Jack convinces Ruby to help perform the charade of convincing Ziggy that Ruby wrote the novel. Ruby agrees to help on the condition that Jack pays for her wedding to Hamish (Andrew S. Gilbert). They continue with the charade when Ruby and Jack go to the city to publicise the book but along the way, they fall for one another. Oooof... Silly movie full of wildly contrived scenarios and a very obvious outcome. Jackman and Karvan work well together but they deserve better than this middle-of-the-road nonsense.
No nudity in Paperback Hero but there's some sexy stuff featuring Claudia Karvan available here.
Passion
Biopic about celebrated Australian pianist Percy Grainger (Richard Roxburgh) who had very complicated relationships with the women in his life including his mother (Barbara Hershey) and his girlfriend Karen (Emily Woof) who helped him indulge in his love of flagellation. Get the feeling this is the main reason this movie got made because otherwise it's fairly unremarkable.
Emily Wolf briefly shows her breasts and bottom in a couple of scenes and in photos usually involving flagellation.
You can find a synopsis with collages and videos from Passion here. A preview is below.

Pearls Before Swine
Appallingly pretentious drama/thriller where 'Daniel' (American musician Boyd Rice) is a hitman who with his gang of hitmen kill a bunch of homeless youth so that their organs can be harvested. In between, he spends time with his girlfriend Christy (Lisa Hutchinson) who works as a dominatrix and their friends Anthony (Greg Scealy) and Isabelle (Baby Lemonade Lamarr), who usually partner swap or dabble with BDSM. He also tries to make sense of the world by reading and watching films or going to a psychiatrist (singer Ross Wilson) who he manages to outsmart into his way of thinking... Anyway, his hitman buddy Paul (Nicholas Crawford-Smith) comes across a huge hit worth $25,000 each and it turns out that the person they are to kill is notorious writer Morton Bugs. 'Daniel' attempts to find out more about his target by reading his work and he seems to like what he is writing. As the day of the hit comes closer, 'Daniel' becomes reticent about killing someone he admires but it's may take him to a place he's only dreamed of. From one of the directors of the low budget 'cult classic' Bloodlust (the other directed Redball, see below) we are presented the most arrogant prick that ever existed in 'Daniel' who lords it over everyone. Then the movie ends in a way so ridiculous it renders the plot of the movie null and void. Then there's all the pro-fascist/Nazi horse shit. Fuck this movie...
A couple of nude scenes from Lisa Hutchinson.

Powderburn
Low budget road movie/thriller where Chrissy (Blazey Best) arrives back in Australia and her friend Brad (Blaise Cooper) who becomes violently ill when his stomach full of drug-filled condoms starts to turn on him. They are closely followed by Lily (Olivia Pigeot) and her tongueless partner Joe (Rolando Ramos) who are working for drug trafficker Dex (Ian Bliss) with Lily looking to kill the both of them for the drugs. Then Brad shits himself to death with the drugs still inside him so Chrissy is fucked but she remembers her old boyfriend Peter (Nicholas Bishop) is studying medicine and she manages to convince him to cut open Brad despite Peter not been happy to see her again. Turns out Peter doesn't have the tools so he has to go to his father's house in the country where they are followed by Lily and Joe while a corrupt cop Draper (Alan Lovell) joins in wanting his share. The groups then play a cat and mouse game across the arid countryside in a desperate attempt to retrieve the drugs while a surprise is waiting for all of them. OK movie with mostly up-and-coming actors or solid character actors who do alright but the plot of the movie is nonsensical and at times quite hateful and the road trip plot makes no sense other than to pad out the movie to 90 minutes. There's a 10 minute stretch in the movie that's utterly absurd and is probably the best part of the movie but the movie doesn't play up the absurdity of the situation enough, to it's detriment and it ends up like every Tarantino rip-off did in the 90s which it never needed to.
One of those Video Ezy brand releases where the store released low budget Australian movies that otherwise would struggle for distribution. Good idea at the time but everyone of those releases is now near impossible to find with Video Ezy now defunct. We'll see a few of those in the coming updates.
Both Olivia Pigeot and Natalie Jane Cole are nude in this movie. Blazey Best also spends the entire movie in a very skimpy top.

Redball
Grungy Melbourne-set hard-nosed cop thriller where two detectives Robbie (John Brumpton) and J.J. (Belinda McClory) are assigned to a serial killer case involving a killer dubbed Mr. Creep who's murdered a bunch of kids. Turns out J.J. has some history with Mr Creep then it gets worse for her when it looks highly likely that Mr. Creep is a cop who's been protected from up-on-high. The closer they get, the less people J.J. can trust including Robbie. Meanwhile, a body washes up on shore and a series of cops 'kick the corpse' down the river so they don't have to deal with it. Ugly movie, full of incomprehensible police jargon and every characters a real arsehole with no redeeming features except for J.J. who's fast heading that way. Fairly watchable if you like it down and dirty but it's depressing all-the-way and the ending is pure fancy.
Belinda McClory briefly shows her breasts.

Australian/New Zealand movies: 1999 part 1
Big year for Australian (and New Zealand) movies and plenty of them have something to cap so I'm going to do a rare third update for a year mainly to give me time to go through them all. Decent batch of movies in the first update with plenty of nudity in All The Way, Dear Claudia, Envy and Feeling Sexy plus a fair bit of body double nudity in dud mystery thriller Dead End. Also some good nudity from Danielle Cormack in the New Zealand movie Channelling Baby.

13 Gantry Row
Rare venture into horror thriller for an Australian telemovie. Married couple Julie (Rebecca Gibney) and Peter (John Adam) are looking to move into a new home and come across a house which seems perfect and cheap even though it is giving off creepy vibes and needs a lot of work. They buy the house and it isn't long before it starts to affect Peter's behaviour including becoming 'more direct' with Julie, interested in using a cutthroat razor he found in the house and having horrible nightmares. Things take a turn as the house begins to unveil itself as a 'house of horrors' and Peter becomes inhabited by the ghost of a violent killer who previous lived there in the early 1900s. Then the killings start and it isn't long before Julie's safety is in jeopardy. OK movie, not exactly heading into uncharted territory and is quite violent for a telemovie.
No nudity in 13 Gantry Row but there's a bit of sexy stuff from Rebecca Gibney which you'll find below.
Rebecca Gibney in 13 Gantry Row
30006kb 3min 07sec 744x416 (implied nudity, 'nude' under covers, plenty of cleavage in nightie, extremely lengthy)

Airtight
Whereas 13 Gantry Row was a rare venture into a horror, Airtight is a rare venture into sci-fi for a telemovie. Sometime in the future, the world is running out of oxygen (what the hell?) but a scientist working at the company helping bring oxygen to Earth has found the formula for making oxygen. Problem solved. Ah no, the company is evil and they lock up the scientist and want people to keep paying exorbitant prices for oxygen. Enter a ragtag team of troops headed by Rat (Grayson McCouch) who help rescue the scientist and stop the evil company from their nefarious plans. Or something, I kind of drifted off watching it as I found it pretty boring and the sci-fi antics pretty limited.
No nudity in Airtight but there's some underwear scenes from Tasma Walton featured below.
Tasma Walton in Airtight

All the Way
Low budget comedy where Steve (André Eikmeier) finds out that his mother needs to pay $32,000 in a month to an evil bank manager otherwise she's going to be thrown out on the street. With the help of his friends Danny (Amos Szeps), Mike (Matt Boesenberg), Karrie (Bronwyn Jones) and Robyn (Samantha Murray), they come up with a plan to make a porn movie in 30 days and sell it to make the money. The evil bank manager cottons on to the plan that Steve has as it turns out that his daughters are the stars of said porn movie. Now the bank manager will do anything to stop them saving Steve's mother. Silly movie with an unbelievable idea but is fairly competently made and isn't boring plus it has a fairly funny final act. The plot isn't all that original and the porn aspect shows a strange naïveté about the industry and what 'porn' is shown of the movie barely looks like something anyone would watch.
Some nudity from Rachael James and Bee Valasquez plus both Sasha Preston and Lucy Angelina briefly show their breasts.

Channelling Baby (NZ)
Overcooked melodrama that starts in the 1970s with Bunnie (Danielle Cormack) who becomes blind by looking into an eclipse while on drugs. She marries her soldier boyfriend Geoff (Kevin Smith) and they have a kid together. But Bunnie becomes erratic and Geoff runs off after their kid apparently dies. 20 years later, Bunnie goes to a psychic and is told that her child is very much alive so she goes looking for her. This also seems to involve Tony (Joel Tobeck) and a young woman named Cassandra (Amber Sainsbury). The four gather to hash out what happened including the most implausible plot developments I've ever seen. There's so many of these baffling plot developments that don't make a jot of sense and cause the final act to turn into an exercise of who can have the bigger histrionics. The movie derails so dramatically it turns into an unmitigated disaster by close.
Danielle Cormack has 4 nude scenes in the movie including her only full frontal nude scene as far as I know. Having said that the videos I've made from the movie are from a low quality YouTube rip with a big watermark on it which may be the best quality we'll get because it's only ever been released on VHS despite the quality cast. Ah well...
You can find a synopsis with VHS quality videos from Channelling Baby here. A preview is below.

Close Contact
Another telemovie, this time a more traditional thriller. Liz (Amanda Douge) is an ambitious young lawyer whose life is about to unravel when her boss/lover is murdered and millions are missing from the trust account of a jailed criminal boss which his trophy wife Cheryl (Kimberley Davies) wants. After attempts to kill Liz fail, her ex (Brett Climo) hires a bodyguard Mike (Grant Bowler) who reluctantly takes the job as he needs the money. The job isn't going to be easy as Liz stubbornly decides to look for the missing millions and for who killed her boss/lover and Mike tags along begrudgingly. Typical Screentime crime telemovie, fairly disposable with a ridiculous plot that goes off into some strange directions including a young Abbie Cornish playing a school girl stripper for some reason. Douge is clearly playing a character 10+ years older than her and the bodyguard gets dumped to the unrelated B-plot which strangely becomes the A-plot for about twenty minutes.
Brief nudity from Amanda Douge at the start of this telemovie.

The Craic
Comedy about two Irishmen Fergus (Jimeoin) and Wesley (Alan McKee), who flee to Melbourne when an IRA leader Colin (Robert Morgan) threatens to kill them. Then they overstay their visas and are living in a share house dodging immigration officials. Fergus decides that he's looking for love, so he goes on a dating game show and wins with the prize being a trip to the Gold Coast with the woman who chose him. But immigration is one his tail and Fergus narrowly escapes. Wesley joins Fergus in Queensland and they both go off picking fruit. Meanwhile, Colin rats out a whole heap of people, including Fergus and Wesley and gets taken to Queensland under Witness Protection. And you're not going to believe it but... Very light comedy that was a surprise hit in it's year thanks to the popularity of comedian Jimeoin (still going strong). The laughs are pretty light on and the story meanders all over the place.
Brief nudity from Wendy McDonald as a topless barmaid.

Dead End
Melbourne-set serial killer thriller that was never released in Australia. Todd (William Snow) is a former detective turned crime writer, haunted by not being able to solve his final case, so much so he gets bad headaches. Then it is all dredged up again when someone seems to be recreating the serial killer's murders and he's killing off people Todd knows and in the firing line is his soon-to-be wife Lori (Victoria Hill). The movie was clearly made for international sales but it completely bungles it's location. It's clearly set in Melbourne, but the FBI are working on the case? Why the fuck are the FBI working on the case? Why do the cops have American accents, but work for the Victorian police force? There are other baffling moments such as a sub plot about the crime writer finding out that he was adopted. You know why? So that he can be related to the serial killer. Then there's the graphic rape descriptions to his fans at a cocktail party. The ending is magnificently awful (the panty sniffing bit is a highlight). A definite contender for the worst Australian movie.
A bit of nudity in Dead End but most of it is from Shana Satakovski as the body double for Victoria Hill (which will become incredibly strange in a future 1999 update). There's also further nudity from Leigh Holmes and Stingers/Neighbours star Kate Kendall in her only nude scene AFAIK.

Dear Claudia
Desert island romantic comedy about Walter (Bryan Brown), a pilot for the post office and Claudia (Aleksandra Vujcic), a mysterious passenger he has a crush on. Then the plane crashes into the water and Walter and Claudia are stuck on a desert island. While waiting to be discovered, Walter and Claudia bicker and make up, mainly around Walter sabotaging various attempts at warning nearby craft because he wants to spend more time with Claudia. Turns out that Claudia has stolen 20 gold bars that she is going to fence if they ever get off the island. Meanwhile, back in the small town they are from, there is plenty of gossip about the two and the wild adventures they are apparently having. A throwaway romantic comedy that is helped by two decent lead performances who have to carry the entire film. Otherwise mostly forgettable particularly in Australia as this hasn't made the leap to DVD here. I caped this from a Hong Kong DVD.
A few scenes of nudity from Aleksandra Vujcic including full frontal nudity. She was previously naked in the New Zealand movie Broken English. That's about it for her career except for some stray American credits.

Desire
Ultra low budget romantic drama from independent Melbourne filmmaker Bill Mousoulis. Basically a story of couples in-and-out of love. Anna (Juliet Hone) is a writer who spots Finola (Belinda O'Connor) on the street and instantly wants her. But Finola is in a relationship with Cindy (Fiona Latham) and wants to move to London with her but Cindy is distant and then one day disappears. Anna gets closer to Finola who moons over Cindy until Finola leaves too. Paul (Paul Wilson) likes Anna who occasionally lets him in but then he's caught by surprise by his attraction to computer programmer Martin (Carlo San Giorgio). Meanwhile, Evan (Rad Rudd) and Skye (Monica Pereira) try to make their relationship work despite what seems insurmountable odds of not being able to speak to one another. A modern love 'heptagon' with both straight and gay relationships but for the most part it's ponderous and meandering. There's a lot of mooning, minimal dialogue and so many scenes of people walking the streets of Melbourne. So not much happens but at least it's only 75 minutes.
Nudity from Juliet Hone in a couple of scenes and also nudity from Belinda O'Connor and Monica Pereira.

Envy
aka The New Girlfriend
Sordid thriller about Kate (Linda Cropper) who sees a local girl Rachel (Anna Lise Phillips) in her dress that she believed stolen and this being a tit-for-tat war between the two of them. Despite protests from her husband Phil (Jeff Truman), Kate steals back the dress so Rachel and her thug of a boyfriend Nick (Scott Major) get revenge by raping her son Matt (Wade Osborne), who has a crush on Rachel. Kate sees that she's licked so she takes the unprecedented step of asking Rachel to date Matt for money which Rachel agrees. They seem to hit it off but this is only a part of Kate's plan to get revenge on Rachel and poor lovestruck Matt is going to be the collateral damage of this petty feud. Nasty but fairly solid class war thriller with decent performances from Cropper and Phillips who make the movie far better than it has any right to be considering it's sordid plot. Deserves more love than it received on release.
A fair bit of nudity from Annelise Phillips particularly in the rape scene. She also has decent nudity in the short film from the same year, Ivan.

Eye of the Beholder
As mentioned in the previous year's update, Stephan Elliott, the director of The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, had the world at his feet after that movie was a hit. And then he blew it up by making the incredible mess that is Welcome To Woop Woop then this oddball thriller starring Ewen McGregor and Ashley Judd. Technically an Australian movie despite being made in the US and Canada, I don't remember much about the movie. But I do remember a great little documentary about making the movie made by Elliott's costumer designer Lizzie Gardiner called Killing Priscilla. It's a very intriguing look at the making of the movie and other Elliott movies that shows that Eye of the Beholder was clearly being restricted by its producers and had a director who needed to be on a shorter leash. It is far better than the movie itself.
Ashley Judd shows her breasts and bottom in a couple of scenes.

Fearless (NZ)
Impossible to find telemovie from New Zealand so I have not much of an idea what it is about except something about a stunt gone wrong. Well, some very nice person made a couple of videos from the movie that show Australian actress Zoe Naylor naked in a few scenes including flashing her breasts. Would love to get my hands on this one but I'm afraid that this may be lost in the ether.
Zoe Naylor has even better nudity in the arty rape drama The Book of Revelation.

Feeling Sexy
45 minute short film about Vicki (Susie Porter), an artist who falls for and marries Greg (Tamblyn Lord), but two kids down the track and their relationship is feeling stale. Vicki takes an art teacher's job (for adults) and spies one of her students (John Donatiu) and falls head over lust for him and they begin an affair. She thinks that this will reignite her own spark, but it doesn't and she tells all to her husband who becomes distrusting of her. So, it is up to Vicki to find a way around the problems they are having and reignite the passion they once had and she does this in her own unique way. Interesting little film brought to life by Susie Porter who pretty much owns this movie. The character of Vicki has a great vibe about her (even when she does wrong), and her never give up attitude leads to an interesting ending.
Susie Porter is nude in a number of scenes.
