Australian/New Zealand movies: 1978
Another year and yet more nudity. Was hoping for a less intensive year than the previous one but thanks to the sexploitation drama Felicity that wasn't possible.
1978
Angel Mine (NZ)
66 minute 'avant-garde' satire from New Zealand auteur David Blyth where a couple (Derek Ward and Jennifer Redford) are tired of the bourgeoisie lifestyle which is OK because a couple of lookalike assassins are trying to kill them and take over their lives. There's also ad parodies plus a nod to The Seventh Seal. A baffling movie that has long scenes where nothing happens followed by scenes with maximum wackiness.
There's a few nude scenes featuring Jennifer Redford including a scene where she might actually be having sex.
You can find a synopsis with collages and HD videos from Angel Mine here. A preview is below.
Jennifer Redford in Angel Mine
The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith
Harrowing story about an Indigenous man Jimmie Blacksmith (Tom E. Lewis) who is pushed too far by numerous white people and he and some fellow Indigenous men go on a crime spree that ends in murder. Tough going but a pretty solid movie.
Angela Punch McGregor has a couple of brief scenes where she shows her breasts while Justine Saunders shows her breasts and bottom. There's also further nudity from unknown Indigenous actresses at various times throughout the movie.
You can find a synopsis with collages and HD videos from The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith here. A preview is below.

Cosy Cool
Baffling motorcycle road movie where a man is fired from his job and rides off with his buddy looking for a good time. Meanwhile two men are setting up the motorcyclists for a weird cult murder and a crazy man wants revenge for humiliating him. Incoherent low budget thriller that makes little sense, needlessly repeats itself and large chunks of plot are explained by text written on the screen. Supposedly infamous for including a controversial motorcycle gang in the movie but most would struggle to get that far.
Both Pam Jackman and Charlene Webb show full frontal and rear nudity during a skinnydip and breasts while lying with a bloke. There's also nudity from the cult murder victim when her dress is ripped open to reveal her breasts.
You can find a synopsis and videos from Cosy Cool here. A preview is below.

Felicity
John D. Lamond's fictional debut which is a coming-of-age drama so you'll know it will be jam-packed with nudity. School girl Felicity (Canadian actress Glory Annen) negotiates her way through her sexual awakening which flourishes when she travels to Hong Kong. Surprisingly watchable sexploitation movie helped by copious nudity and a winning lead in Annen. Probably Lamond's best movie because he sure has made some garbage.
Numerous fully nude scenes featuring Glory Annen with full nudity from various others including Jody Hansen, Joni Flynn and a bunch of Australian actresses who frequently appeared nude in Marilyn Rodgers, Angela Menzies-Wills and Sarah Lee.
You can find a synopsis with collages and HD videos from Felicity here. A preview is below.

A Good Thing Going
Domestic drama telemovie where shitty husband (John Hargreaves) who is out every night drinking with friends and is cheating on his wife has a major life upheaval when his wife just up and leaves and he has to look after his two kids. And he struggles because he never really looked after them. There's no winners here particularly the viewer.
There's some nudity from Tina Bursill who shows her breasts after sex plus stripper nudity from someone named Buffy. There's also a scene when an anonymous woman briefly shows a breast.

Harvest of Hate
Garbage terrorist thriller telemovie where Muslim terrorists take over an Adelaide winery that has just been bought by a couple. The terrorists kidnap them for some reason and bring the wife to the lead terrorist for his harem. Appalling movie that makes no sense and feels like a relic from another era. Worst of a series of South Australian made telemovies including Peter Weir's excellent The Plumber and The Sound of Love.
Brief side-boob from Kris McQuade.
You can find a synopsis and videos from Harvest of Hate here. A preview is below.
Kris McQuade in Harvest of Hate
In Search of Anna
Road movie about two lost souls who find each other when free spirit Sam (Judy Morris) picks up a hitch-hiker Tony (Richard Moir) in her 1938 Buick. Tony is looking for a new life in Sydney with a woman named 'Anna' as he's just spent 6 years in prison. Sam is in a loveless open marriage. Good movie if a bit incoherent in the end, helped by the two leads.
Some brief nudity from Judy Morris including full frontal nudity from a distance after she exits the water and some brief breasts during a frantically cut sex scene.
You can find a synopsis and videos from In Search of Anna here. A preview is below.
Judy Morris in In Search of Anna
Long Weekend
Environmental horror movie where a couple (John Hargreaves and Briony Behets) go camping hoping to rekindle their failing marriage and kill a few animals along the way. But the animals fight back. Strange movie that surprisingly works despite it's wild premise. A fairly original horror movie for it's time which was remade in 2008 with Jim Caviezel and Claudia Karvan.
A few scenes where Briony Behets shows her breasts.
You can find a synopsis with collages and HD videos from Long Weekend here. A preview is below.

Love Under Pressure
aka Because He's My Friend
Telemovie starring American actors Karen Black and Keir Dullea playing wife and husband who move to Australia with their autistic son as the husband has a new job there. This move puts a strain on their relationship as their son is out of his comfort zone. Typical telemovie stuff.
No nudity but Karen Black is in underwear for one scene.

Magee and the Lady
Another telemovie with two American leads (Tony Lo BIanco, Sally Kellerman) but this time it doesn't really make sense for them to be Americans in Australia. Magee (Lo Blanco) is a boat owner who is about to lose it so he goes to confront the rich guy who is taking the boat back only the rich guy is not to at his house. So with only days until he loses his boat, he makes one desperate attempt to get the rich guy's attention by kidnapping his daughter (Sally Kellermen). Together they play out a slapstick relationship where they hate one another then they fall in love. Silly stuff but it doesn't outstay it's welcome.
No nudity but there's some sexy stuff from Sally Kellerman including a scene in a wet see-through dress and more sexy stuff from Annie Semler who in one scene seems to wearing the same outfit she wore in Deathcheaters. Apologies for the low quality of the videos. Highly doubtful they'll be anything better.

Mouth to Mouth
John Duigan directed Melbourne social drama (he's really churning them out at this stage at almost a yearly rate) about two young men and two young women who live on the edge of society desperately trying to survive. Pretty decent movie with themes that still resonate today.
No nudity in the movie but quite a few videos are at the original update. You can find a synopsis and videos from Mouth to Mouth here.
The Newman Shame
Perth made telemovie where George Lazenby plays a former cop who with his wife (Diane Craig) are drawn into a case where a friend dies in mysterious circumstances. Seems like he was been extorted by having a phony porno made where it looks like he's the star. Silly stuff but Lazenby and Craig make it watchable.
No real nudity in the movie except for some inserts in the porn movie.
You can find a synopsis and VHS videos from The Newman Shame here. A preview is below.

The Night The Prowler
Jim Sharman continues making Australian movies instead of cashing in on The Rocky Horror Picture Show. This time he adapts a novel from one of the Australia's greatest authors Patrick White about a 'frumpy' young woman Felicity (Kerry Walker) who cries rape one night only for it to begin a wild journey of discovery for Felicity where she rebels against her middle class upbringing and her parents, particularly her overbearing mother (Ruth Cracknell) who wants marry her off. Felicity comes out the other side completely changed. Plays as a drama but works much better when Sharman unleashes his Rocky Horror side and goes a bit batshit for a while. Probably would've worked better as a social satire which it clearly wants to be but can't break the constraints of the drama. Kerry Walker is very good here and would become a favourite of the likes of Jane Campion and Baz Luhrmann.
There's brief nudity in one scene from an unknown woman who Felicity interrupts having sex with an older man in the bushes. The older man is credited but not the woman... There's also lengthy scenes of Kerry Walker in a ripped open nightie.

Patrick
Wacky thriller from Richard Franklin about a comatose patient who seems to be killing various people at the asylum he is living in while taking a liking to the new nurse (English actress Susan Penhaligon). It's a nutty premise but it works for the most part thanks to Franklin's ability to shoot a tense set piece.
Some brief nudity from Helen Hemingway and from Carole-Ann Aylett in the opening murder scene. Susan Penhaligon is also seen in a see-through dress wearing no bra.
You can find a synopsis with collages and HD videos from Patrick here. A preview is below.

Skin Deep (NZ)
Odd drama about a small town that loses it's mind when the local all-male boxing club hires a woman from the city to do massages for it's members. Turns out she used to do topless massages and is reluctantly pulled into performing them despite it being illegal to do so. Strange movie that works better a time-piece of a certain time and place with the men acting like they've never met a woman before.
A few scenes where Deryn Cooper shows her breasts as she gives a man a massage.
You can find a synopsis with collages and videos from Skin Deep here. A preview is below.
Deryn Cooper in Skin Deep
Solo (Aus/NZ)
Australian/New Zealand co-production where drifter Judy (Lisa Peers from Journey Among Women) is taken in by Paul (Vincent Gil from Mad Max) who flies planes for the local area looking for fires. The two hit it off and he shows her the Tiger Moth he's restored and takes her for the first flight only to strike trouble and leave them stranded far from home. A quiet romantic drama that doesn't quite go the usual way.
Some brief nudity from Lisa Peers as she changes after a swim and we see her breasts and bottom. See Journey Among Women for more/better nudity from Lisa.
You can find a synopsis with collages and videos from Solo here. A preview is below.

The Sound of Love
Romantic drama telemovie about two deaf people who fall for one another after they meet at the Deaf Institute. Nice little story although not a lot happens.
Some brief side-boob nudity from Celia De Burgh as she's changing.
You can find a synopsis with collages and videos from The Sound of Love here. A preview is below.
Celia De Burgh in The Sound of Love
Third Person Plural
Improvised drama where four friends go on weekend trips on a boat. Eternal pessimist Mark (Bryan Brown) and documentary filmmaker Danny (Linden Wilkinson) get together although it seems doomed. While care-free Beth (Margaret Cameron) and boat owner Terry (George Shevtsov) hit it off and get real cutesy with one another. As fun as it sounds...
A fair bit of nudity from Margaret Cameron whose character doesn't seem to like clothes in the first half of the movie.
Margaret Cameron in Third Person Plural
81682kb 4min 17sec 768x576 (full frontal and rear nudity, skirt, extremely lengthy)

Weekend of Shadows
South Australian drama about town outsider Rabbit (John Waters) who reluctantly joins a posse looking for an immigrant farm worker who possibly killed a farmer's wife. Turns out Rabbit married the loosest woman in town (Melissa Jaffer) who claims her kid is his but the list of fathers is in the dozens. The posse including Bill Hunter go stir crazy chasing the farm worker and you know it's just going to end badly. OK but heads towards an obvious ending.
The only nudity in the movie is a brief shot of a breast from the victim.
Unknown in Weekend of Shadows
As always there's movies released with nothing to cap and these include the excellent Phillip Noyce directed drama Newsfront, dramas The Irishman, Little Boy Lost and Blue Fin, the Brian Trenchard-Smith directed Stunt Rock which is basically just Deathcheaters with a magician and rock band. There's also a bunch of telemovies with nothing to cap including the batty thriller The Death Train, Gone To Ground, The Night Nurse, Plunge Into Darkness, another South Australian movie starring John Waters The Scalp Merchant and the Steve Bisley starring thiller Taxi! where he plays a taxi driver who sticks his nose where he shouldn't. It is unknown if there's anything to cap from The King of the Two Day Wonder starring Sigrid Thornton. The next update is where we'll see nudity from her.

Australian/New Zealand movies: 1977
Lots of movies in this update (20 in total) with the usual mix of cinema releases plus a whole bunch of TV movies as this was in the midst of a boom-time for Australian TV. So much to go through not helped by another nudity filled Fantasm movie plus the grimy warts-and-all feminist drama Journey Among Women where the actresses spend most of the second half of the movie with limited clothes. Also the first New Zealand movie on the list as the industry there finally gets up and going.
Apologies in advance for the quality of some of the videos below as some of these TV movies are particularly obscure and only available in nth generation copies so the quality is quite low at times.
1977
All at Sea
Bawdy TV movie that features the cast of popular game show at the time The Celebrity Game going to an island resort where everyone including the priest are horny. You can tell it's a total rush job combined with being a free trip for the game show cast as the quality is bad and the jokes low on the funniness scale. And for a bawdy comedy it's very low on the nudity but the makers did get Abigail to show her breasts to add to her growing collection of movies she's been nude in.
You can find a synopsis and the collages and videos from All at Sea here. A preview is below.

Born To Run
(aka Harness Fever)
One of two Disney TV movies made in Australia, the other being 1975's Ride a Wild Pony. This one is about young boy who finds a horse that he helps get to into harness racing or something. Didn't expect anything to cap being Disney but there's a wet see-through underwear scene featuring Julieanne Newbould. Was hoping this would turn up in better quality with Disney+ but no dice.

Cass
Feminist telemovie about a documentary filmmaker (Michele Fawdon) who comes back triumphantly from filming footage about a tribe and getting a TV deal only for the producer to turn it into a sleazy look at naked tribal women. The filmmaker loses it and finds solace in another woman (Judy Morris) who's in an open marriage while the filmmaker's own marriage to a doctor (John Waters with a moustache which is a rare sight). Probably provocative for the time but the filmmaker comes across as a bit whiny and probably mentally unstable despite being right about what the producer did to her movie.
Some brief nudity from Michele Fawdon while lying in bed with Judy Morris plus a surprising amount of nudity in the documentary scenes.

Fantasm Comes Again
Follow up to the previous years' Fantasm, another portmanteau about sexy fantasies with a lot of the same cast and just as much nudity but I found the movie slightly more enjoyable than the original. That's not saying much as it still has the same problems that plagued the original.
Lots and lots of nudity from American soft-core and porn actresses.

The F.J. Holden
Drama about a teen boy who drives an F.J. Holden and while driving around sees a teen girl sitting at a bus stop but when he comes back around to ask her out, she's gone. They finally meet days later and strike up a relationship that goes OK for while before an incident causes the girl to end it with the boy and he is not happy about this. Not so much a movie revolving around plot but a character study about the boy and girl that doesn't take sides and plays out like a docu-drama.
Eva Dickinson shows full frontal nudity in one scene.

The Getting of Wisdom
Bruce Beresford directed coming-of-age tale about a group of girls in an all girl dormatory where a girl Laura (Susannah Fowle) forms a close relationship with her teacher in a platonic way but it starts to affect the both of them. Based on a book by Australian author Henry Handel Richardson and features a number of soon-to-be fairly well known actresses as Laura's classmates like Sigrid Thornton, Kerry Armstrong and Noni Hazlehurst.
Some brief side-boob nudity from Kerry Armstrong while she's in the shower.

High Rolling
(aka High Rolling in a Hot Corvette)
Two carnies (American actor Joseph Bottoms and Grigor Taylor) steal a Corvette and drive from Melbourne to the Gold Coast for a holiday and to pick up women. Along the way they pick up a teenage hitchhiker in the form of a young Judy Davis. Silly stuff from the Hexagon team (see the Alvin Purple movies) but a rare look at the Gold Coast on the screen for the time.
There's some brief nudity from Christine Amor while having sex at a carnival.

Illuminations (1976)
I mentioned Paul Cox's debut movie in the previous update but wasn't able to find a copy of it. But on Ozmovies there's some caps from the movie that show lead actress Gabriella Trsek naked as she attempts to kill herself in a bath.

Image of Death
By-the-numbers TV movie thriller about a woman (Cathey Paine) who kills her lookalike (Cheryl Waters) and takes over her life only to find complications from the murdered woman's family plus a blind boyfriend (Tony Bonner) the killer can't leave. Too much plot going on in this 75 minute movie plus it's lead by two unknown American actresses obviously to get into the American market but surely they could've gotten someone of note.
No nudity but some sexy stuff from Cathey Paine.

Journey Among Women
Crazy revisionist feminist drama about a group of women prisoners who are treated poorly by the local police much to the disgust of the lady of the house (Jeune Pritchard) who helps them escape. But with no food and no means to get food plus nowhere to go, the women are left to fend for themselves. An Aboriginal woman (Lillian Crombie) helps them find food in nature and then the women quickly become sufficient enough for when the police come to bring them in but not without a fight. Surprisingly violent movie where the women spend most of the second half of the movie in very few clothes because the ones they had withered away or are too constrictive. Has it's place but is hampered by obvious money issues and a complete lack of continuity.
All the female cast are fully nude in the movie as it's a grimy back-to-basics movie. Also includes some extras scenes with nudity from the trailer not in the movie.

The Last Wave
Peter Weir directed weird Indigenous mystery thriller where a lawyer (Richard Chamberlain) takes the case of five Indigenous men who are charged with the mysterious murder of a fellow Indigenous man without touching the victim. He brings the men to his home which brings out 'odd' feelings from his wife (Olivia Hamnett). Then a series of strange events happen to the lawyer where he may actually get to the bottom of the mystery. Or not. Very odd movie that's an attempt at something different and it sure is that. I don't think I fully understood it but the movie is definitely interesting.
No nudity in the movie but there's a scene where a teacher (Penny Leach) is in a wet shirt from a rainstorm and it's so soaked that you see her nipples.

The Love Letters from Teralba Road
50 minute movie about a man (Bryan Brown) who has issues with violence trying to reaquaint himself with his ex (Kris McQuade) but she is not trusting of him. A young Gia Carides plays the ex's daughter which surprised me because I thought her first movie was Midnite Spares but here she is as a young girl 6 years earlier.
No nudity but some sexy stuff from Kris McQuade.

The Mango Tree
Period coming-of-age drama set pre-World War II northern Queensland about a young man (Christopher Pate) who is being bought up by his grandmother (Irish actress Geraldine Fitzgerald) and follows how he grows up in a small town while a preacher (Gerard Kennedy) goes mad and causes havoc amongst the locals. Pretty dry stuff but it livens up for a bit of PG sexy action between the young man and his French teacher played by Diane Craig.

The Picture Show Man
Rod Taylor came back to Australia after a fairly successful career through the 50s/60s/70s overseas for this light comedy about two rival teams that are bringing movies to isolated country towns in the early 1900s. Wacky antics ensue with a few laughs but is mostly forgettable. I did like Garry McDonald's fourth-wall breaking final line in the movie after everything goes to shit. Again pretty PG stuff but there's a scene where Sally Conabere is naked in the water but you don't really see anything.
You can find a synopsis and the collages and videos from The Picture Show Man here. A preview is below.
Sally Conabere in The Picture Show Man
Say You Want Me
Telemovie about a radio host's wife (Belinda Giblin) who is raped by one of his colleagues (a particularly slimy Hugh Keays-Byrne). She goes through a whole gamut of emotions while her husband struggles to work out where his allegiance should lie (great guy!).
Some brief nudity from Belinda Giblin early in the movie. The videos are fairly low quality sadly.

Shimmering Light
Beau Bridges loved filming in Australia so much in Adam's Women that he came back for more and brought his father with him. ABC telemovie where Beau plays a content surfer who's life is about to go a major upheaval with his girlfriend (Ingrid Mason) becoming pregnant and his rich father (Lloyd Bridges) coming back into his life as he is dying. By-the-numbers stuff as the surfer has to get his shit together whether he likes it or not. Lloyd Bridges looks pretty old here but he lived another 20-odd years.
No nudity in the telemovie but some sexy stuff including from Ingrid Mason. Sadly she doesn't act for 20 years after this...

Sleeping Dogs (NZ)
First New Zealand feature-length movie in 25 years and considered the beginning of their 'New Wave'. Political thriller about a man (Sam Neill on debut) who abandons his family to live by himself on a remote island except that the island is being used by an upstart political faction to store it's weapons. When the police come, they arrest the man but he escapes (in a pretty wild scene) and becomes an on-the-run enemy of the government whether he likes it on not. Apart from Neill there's some interesting names involved in this movie with director Roger Donaldson, who has had a fairly lengthy Hollywood career, also on debut plus a number of soon-to-be well-known New Zealand actors in the cast. Also Warren Oates turns up as an army general hunting the man.
There's nudity from Donna Akersten who shows her breasts and briefly her bottom during a dalliance with the man.
You can find a synopsis and the collages and HD videos from Sleeping Dogs here. A preview is below.
Donna Akersten in Sleeping Dogs
Summer City
Wild, woolly and rough surfing apocalyptic movie from Phillip Avalon who'd become known for his low rent schlock but this is an interesting if messy movie about a bunch of buddies (including Mel Gibson and Steve Bisley on debut) looking for a surf and a good time and ending up in a living hell involving a woman (Debbie Forman) who's overprotective father hunts them for even thinking about her. Has a strange end of the world vibe about it and while the movie is rough, there's plenty of potential on display. Too bad Avalon would never top this movie including the 1988 sequel to this which is a contender for the worst Australian movie ever made.
Some brief nudity from Debbie Forman as she changes out of her dress. Strangely, Abigail is in this movie but only for her acting.
You can find a synopsis and the collages and videos from Summer City here. A preview is below.
Debbie Forman in Summer City
Summerfield
Moody mystery drama about a new school teacher (Nick Tate) in town who takes an interest in a young girl he is teaching who is an outcast from her fellow student mainly because she suffers from a rare medical disorder. He meets her mother (Elizabeth Alexander) and they fall for one another but she has a 'close' relationship with her oddball brother (John Waters sans moustache) who lives with them. Something is very wrong in the household and it all comes to a head in a shocking finale. Very good movie with a pretty horrific ending, very downbeat.
Elizabeth Alexander shows her breasts during sex while Geraldine Turner shows most of her breasts and briefly her bottom in a couple of scenes as she has a fling with the school teacher.
You can find a synopsis and the collages and videos from Summerfield here. A preview is below.

Wild Man (NZ)
Debut 65 minute feature for New Zealand director Geoff Murphy about two men (Bruno Lawrence and Ian Watkin) who come to town to continue to run their scam of Lawrence being the 'Wild Man of Borneo' who takes on all-comers. Very rudimentary movie with long scenes where nothing much happens then short sharp bursts of wackiness including a cameo from comedian John Clarke as a shonky medicinal salesman. Murphy would make way better movies than this (The Quiet Earth also with Lawrence is a New Zealand masterpiece) and this is only of interest to those following Murphy and Lawrence's careers.
Some brief nudity from Sue Bollinger as she is interrupted while taking a bath by a nutter chasing a chicken.
Sue Bollinger in Wild Man
13195kb 49sec 640x480 (brief breasts, plenty of cleavage, in bath)
Plenty to look through above but there's also quite a number of movies that didn't have any nudity like quintessential fan favourite ABBA® The Movie (now sadly marred by the constant presence of convicted pedophile Robert Hughes), Phillip Noyce's debut Backroads, western Raw Deal, horse drama Blue Fire Lady, Wendy Hughes starring telemovies The Alternative and oddball thriller Is There Anything There? plus non-Hughes starring telemovies No Room To Run and Roses Bloom Twice. Also there's animated movies Dot and the Kangaroo and 5 Weeks in a Balloon. There's also a movie called Listen to the Lion that I have not been able to view but looking at the cast there seems to be only one woman in it.
That'll do as it's taken longer than I was expecting which is not looking good for when the number of movies explode in the 1980s.

Break of Day
Romantic drama about about a World War I returned soldier (Andrew McFarlane) who comes across a woman (Sara Kestleman) while hunting who lives by herself and falls for her despite being married himself. But he finds that they are two different people when he meets her artist friends from the city. Pretty typical of the genre.
A couple of nude scenes from British actress Sara Kestleman plus some brief nudity from afar from Geraldine Turner and Kate Ferguson after they pose for an artistic photo.

Deathcheaters
After the success of The Man from Hong Kong, Brian Trenchard-Smith decided to make a movie starring his stuntman friend Grant Page to show off his skills and he brings in John Hargreaves to play his buddy who runs a company that does stunts for productions. When they help stop a robbery they are asked to help the government with a terrorism problem at a power plant. The plot is inconsequential to showcasing Grant Page and it's pretty fun and doesn't pretend to be anything but a movie with cool stunts. Sadly, Grant Page just died in the last couple of days and was still doing stunts including for the upcoming Furiosa movie well into his 80s.
No nudity in the movie but I decided to upgrade the videos I made previously to HD.

Do I Have to Kill My Child?
Hour-long telemovie starring Jacki Weaver as a mother who's new baby is driving her to despair to the point that she feels she could be a danger to the baby. Pretty depressing stuff and feels like a docu-drama. No nudity in the telemovie but there's a see-through nightie scene from Jacki who wears her hair differently in this, so much so that she kind of looks like Sydney Sweeney in some scenes. Very odd...

Don's Party
Excellent adaptation of a David Williamson play about a bunch of Labor Party supporters who gather for a party on the election night of 1969 when it was believed that Labor would be swept into power for the first time in 20 years. Except, they don't and everyone at the party gets drunker, hornier and angrier as the night goes on. A great cast and everyone seems to be having a ball being absolutely the worst. There's been rumours of this movie been remade over the years but this is very much a movie of its time and being remade now would mean it would be buggered up by modern sensibilities, which it definitely doesn't need.
Plenty of nudity in this movie, particularly from Clare Binney but also some brief nudity from Veronica Lang and a couple of scenes featuring Candy Raymond.

Eliza Fraser
A bawdy retelling of the story of English immigrant Eliza Fraser (Susannah York) who with the rakish captain of the boat (John Waters) become shipwrecked on an island and they live with the Indigenous people while the captain tries to fuck Eliza. Remarkably unsubtle comedy from the director of Alvin Purple that clearly wouldn't be made now (see pics below for why) plus there's been a major shift in the story of Eliza Fraser which makes the story a lot less 'fun'.
British actress Susannah York has a few nude scenes in the movie. Plus the Hexagon crew managed to get Abigail to do another (brief) nude scene for them.
You can find a synopsis and the collages and videos from Eliza Fraser here. A preview is below.

Fantasm
Sexy portmanteau movie made in America because there were major issues getting a cast for what was proposed. Plays as a comedy but the movie is overwhelmed by sex scenes which limits the amount of comedy that occurs plus some stuff like the segment about 'wanting to be raped' isn't exactly made for comedy. Most of the time it's boring and if it wanted to be a funny movie it should've had less sex.
A shitload of nudity from a number of American actors including porn stars, some of them fairly well known.

Mad Dog Morgan
Utterly crazy but never not interesting biopic about bushranger Mad Dog Morgan (Dennis Hopper at possibly the craziest time of his life) who led local police on a merry dance as he plied his trade. Coupled with director Phillipe Mora (Howling 2, The Marsupials: The Howling 3), who may be every bit as nuts, they come up with a truly bizarre movie that meanders all over the place, is very violent and ends with Frank Thring asking to having Morgan's scrotum cut off to make into a tobacco pouch. It's unrelenting insanity.
Some brief nudity from Liza Lee-Atkinson as a bar owner who prostrates herself for Mad Dog Morgan but he's not interested.

McManus M.P.B
Telemovie, probably a pilot, about a detective (Peter Sumner) in the Missing Persons Bureau who plays by his own rules helped along by a female detective (Arna-Maria Winchester). Together they go looking for a character played by Pamela Stephenson. Pretty basic stuff and as I said, plays like a pilot.
No real nudity in the movie but there's a few side-boob scenes in this PG rated movie, one each from Arna-Maria Winchester, Pamela Stephenson and surprisingly Deborah Kennedy in her first ever role. Usually she plays staid women or busy-bodies so her playing a sexy model was quite a surprise. That fight between Pamela Stephenson and another woman got a bit friskier than expected too.

Oz
Re-imagining of the Wizard of Oz story with teenage girl Dorothy (Joy Dunstan) who is groupie with a travelling band which ends up having an accident and she ends up joining a surfer, a mechanic and a biker as she attempts to find her way to see the Wizard in concert. The drugs were weird and plentiful in the 70s that's for sure.
Some brief nudity from Joy Dunstan as an evil truckie attempts to rape her.

Puzzle
ABC telemovie that's dated 1976 but apparently didn't air until late 1978. American actor James Franciscus (Beneath the Planet of the Apes) is imported to play a treasure hunter looking for an urn with the remains of Buddha only to get into a plot involving rival treasure hunters (including Sir Robert Helpmann) plus Nazis (of course!) and their gold. Surprised this was made by the ABC as it's really silly stuff. Might explain why it sat on the shelf for 2 years.
No nudity but Wendy Hughes changes into a bikini top for the finale of the movie.

Summer of Secrets
The Rocky Horror Picture Show director Jim Sharman came back to Australia with Nell Campbell to make this bizarre drama that's strangely not a thriller about a young couple who decide to holiday in an abandoned house on an apparently deserted island only to find that it is inhabited by a mad doctor who's attempting to reanimate the love of his life with the help of his offsider. The mad doctor and his offsider capture the young couple and the doctor becomes obsessed with the new woman (Nell Campbell) who he wants to control, particularly after his attempt to reanimate his old love doesn't go to plan. Sharman is a strange director who possibly could've had the world at his feet thanks to Rocky Horror but went on to make a selection of very odd movies and plays.
There's a couple of nude scenes featuring Nell Campbell in the movie with the first one being very brief.
You can find a synopsis and the collages and VHS quality videos from Summer of Secrets here. A preview is below.

Surrender in Paradise
A rare Queensland made movie (for the time), a low budget independent production about a bunch of bushrangers in the early 1900s who go on-the-run on horseback from the police and strangely find themselves transported to the 1970s after they reach the main road. The police continue to follow them by car until they reach Surfers Paradise where they have a massive shoot-out on the beach and surrounding apartment buildings which is a surprisingly well done scene. But for the most part it's a pretty modest movie with obvious budgetary restraints and a plot which doesn't really go anywhere until the final showdown.
There's one nude scene featuring Carolyn Howard as the wife of one of the bushrangers who is washing herself in the river as the police approach and we see her breasts.

There's further movies from 1976 that are without anything to cap including the kids movies Barney, Barnaby and Me and Let the Balloon Go, the decent dramas Caddie and The Devil's Playground, the Hitchcockian thriller End Play, dramas The Fourth Wish and The Singer and the Dancer plus the excellent family movie Storm Boy. A couple of telelmovies Mama's Gone A-hunting and McCloud: Night of the Shark are also without anything to cap. I haven't been able to track down copies John Duigan's second movie The Trespassers or Out of It although according to Ozmovies it doesn't have any nudity in it.
Also there's Paul Cox's debut feature Illuminations which has a fair bit of nudity in it from Gabriella Trsek but I also haven't been able to find a copy of it. I have previously done an extensive review of Paul Cox's movies between 1979-2015 which can be found in 4 parts: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
I've decided to not cap the American movie Goodbye, Norma Jean about Marilyn Monroe that has plenty of nudity in it mainly because it's Australian connection is very tenuous plus the movie was made entirely in the US whereas Fantasm, which was also made in the US at least has Australian filmmakers and some segments shot in Australia.
Looks like there's plenty of nudity in the movies of 1977 plus the first New Zealand movie will feature.

Australian movies: 1975
As I mentioned at the end of the previous update, there's an explosion of Australian movies with money from the government funding now becoming widely available. There's also a good mix of movies over a wide range of genres and some high (and low) quality movies amongst them. Some influential filmmakers also made their debut features in this year like Brian Trenchard-Smith, Richard Franklin and John Duigan plus a probable masterpiece from Peter Weir.
1975
The Box
Feature-length movie spin-off of the hit TV soap and if it is good enough for Number 96, why not? I haven't watched any of the show but what I can gather from watching the movie is that's it's about the goings on at TV station Channel 12 and is every bit as sexy as Number 96. They recruited network (Channel 9) star Graham Kennedy to play a pivotal role in the movie and a lot of the plot is about filming stuff for his show.
Like Number 96, the show was famous for it's nude scenes so there's a few in the movie. There's three nude scenes from Marilyn Vernon including an extended full frontal nude scene, a dream sequence featuring Belinda Giblin naked which seems incredibly superfluous and contractually obliged but at least it isn't rape scene like in Number 96. There's also an embarrassing nude scene from Leonie Bradley who has her clothes ripped off by a car.
As you'll see below the videos are from a VHS rip with a dirty great timecode across it, so that sucks. But as of last month, Crawfords have finally released a DVD of the movie which they had neglected after releasing every episode on DVD (I think, I've never seen it and it's too rich for my blood). Sadly, it's $40 and I ain't paying that much for something I'll only ever watch once so this'll have to do for now.

The Firm Man
John Duigan's (Sirens, The Year My Voice Broke, Winter Of Our Dreams and many more) debut feature after flirting around the seams of the industry for the previous few years (he was the lead actor of 1971's Bonjour Balwyn). Messy almost incomprehensible satire about a man (Peter Cummins) who gets a dream job at a 'firm' that he has no idea what it is or what he's supposed to do. All he does is follow cryptic instructions as groups of weird people like messengers (including Bruce Spence) and a group of three women help him understand what his job is. Or something. An interesting idea but it's hard to decipher.
There's some brief full frontal nudity in the movie from Eileen Chapman (also nude in 1969's 2000 Weeks) plus nudity from a bunch of unknown actresses in a party scene despite one of the characters having a name.

The Great Macarthy
Incredibly misconceived Australian Rules movie about a country footballer (John Jarratt) who is seduced into town to play in the big league but city life doesn't suit him and when he's told to dump his cultured girlfriend (Judy Morris), he mulls over doing so and his game suffers. Somehow seems to have been made by people who know little about the game despite having some well-known faces in it. The Club from 1980 is the far better Aussie Rules movie.
Judy Morris shows her bottom and the side of her right breast as she plays up for her boyfriend.

Inn of the Damned
A rare attempt at an Australian horror western from Terry Bourke (1972's Night of Fear) that's a strange mix of genres but isn't a complete wash considering Bourke's other output (see Plugg below). Surprisingly nasty and violent with plenty of nudity including a lengthy lesbian tease between Carla Hoogeveen (far more naked here than in Night of Fear) and Diana Dangerfield. Let's face it, Bourke was good for one thing: sleaze.

The Man From Hong Kong
Epic action thriller mixing Hong Kong kung-fu with Australian sensibilities that's an incredibly fun ride despite been incredibly dated in many ways. Brian Trenchard-Smith's debut movie which he'll try to emulate but never top. Surprised it's never been remade as far lesser known 'Ozploitation' movies have been. Some brief nudity from Rebecca Gilling is a rather thankless role plus some side-boob action from Ros Spiers.

Ingrid Mason in Paradise

Picnic at Hanging Rock
Classic Australian ethereal mystery from Peter Weir that's hard-to-forget. Some unexpected brief nudity from Jacki Weaver who shows her bottom as she quickly gets dressed. Also in the documentary for the making-of the movie, there's a brief moment we Anne-Louise Lambert is naked with her hair over her breasts while covering one of her breasts with her hand. In the movie, the same scene appears but she is clothed.

Plugg
Appalling sex comedy made in Perth about a private detective who tries to gather information to shut down an escort agency but the movie is so inept the lead male spends more time naked than Penthouse Playmate Cheryl Rixon and that's something because she's plenty naked. Another Terry Bourke dud who had a busy 1975 (see Inn of the Damned above). There also a bunch of unknowns naked throughout the movie too.
You can find a synopsis and the collages and videos from Plugg here. A preview is below.

The Removalists
Basically a filmed adaptation of a David Williamson play about a woman who decides to go to the police about the abuse she's receiving from her husband and finding the police are out of their depth in handling it. Good cast but doesn't break out from it's stage roots. Some very brief nudity from Jacki Weaver as she quickly covers up while showing her bruises to a policeman.

Scobie Malone
Sexy mystery movie based on the Scobie Malone books by Jon Cleary (who incidentally wrote Sidecar Racers - see below) where Jack Thompson lazily goes around and tries to solve the murder of his former lover (Judy Morris) in between bedding a number of women. Fairly slack going that is clearly a vehicle for Thompson. Was the debut feature for Bryan Brown.
A fair bit of nudity in this movie, Victoria Anoux again plus Thompson's live-in lover Bunkie King (he famously lived with sisters for well over a decade). Also there's an explicit insert scene that's supposed to be of Judy Morris but is obviously not her.

Sidecar Racers
Not bad racing movie about the rarely shown form of sidecar motorway racing with a fairly rote plot but some quite exciting races including a crash in the final race which I was shocked at how well it was done. Man, I miss actually doing stunts... Just a quick bikini scene from Wendy Hughes, so more than she usually wore in the 70s movies.
This movie is on DVD but I don't have a copy so the video below is from a fairly decent VHS rip.
Wendy Hughes in Sidecar Racers
The True Story of Eskimo Nell
Strangely faithful adaptation of the song about the prostitute Eskimo Nell who drives every man wild, even down to setting it Alaska. Tries to be jokey but struggles with laughs. Debut feature for Richard Franklin (Patrick, Roadgames, Psycho 2) who would go onto better things. Interestingly, there was a British adaptation of the song titled Eskimo Nell that was released in the same year directed by another pretty solid director Martin Campbell (GoldenEye, Casino Royale, Edge of Darkness - both versions).
There's plenty of flashes of nudity including from Abigail again (promoted as her first full frontal nudity scene), Victoria Anoux again as the idealised Eskimo Nell, Elke Neidhart and Kris McQuade adding to their collection and some brief full frontal nudity from Elli Maclure who would have even better nudity in the 1976 Spanish mystery El Calor de la Llama.
You can find a synopsis and the collages and videos from The True Story of Eskimo Nell here. A preview is below.

Victoria Anoux in The True Story of Eskimo Nell
Elke Neidhart in The True Story of Eskimo Nell

Paddy Madden in The True Story of Eskimo Nell
As always there's a bunch of movies released that had no nudity including the kids movies The Lost Islands and Disney's Ride a Wild Pony, the very good shearing drama Sunday Too Far Away also starring Jack Thompson, the quite full-on drug drama Pure Shit, the immigrant dramas The Golden Cage and Promised Woman and the telemovie Polly Me Love. There's also a bunch of movies that I'm not sure whether there's nudity in them but they're fairly unknown so I won't name them.
I had to take a few shortcuts to get this update done and left out some sex-related docu-dramas including Australia After Dark and the Brian Trenchard-Smith directed The Love Epidemic which is a 'cheery' look at gonorrhea. There's quite a bit of nudity in both but they were more documentaries with unknown actors than feature movies so I'll look at them in another update maybe with some other docu-dramas.
The next year continues the explosion of Australian movies so look out for another long update.

Bigger movies including a couple of sequels for the year of 1974 and quite a few hits among them.

Alvin Rides Again
The previous year's Alvin Purple was a big hit, a sexy comedy with plenty of nudity and the makers decided to cash in as quickly as possible and it shows, big time. This movie suffers from a severe case of sequel-itis, a movie that runs out of ideas in the first 10 minutes and inexplicably turns into a gangster movie where Alvin crosses path with a notorious gangster who miraculously looks exactly like him. The gangster drops dead so a ruse is put in place to fool his enemies by having Alvin imitate him. Hilarity ensues, well it would have if there were any jokes. Embarrassingly bad follow-up at least has plenty of nudity including Abigail's first nude scene plus Kris McQuade coming back for more.

Barry McKenzie Holds His Own
Another sequel, this time to the 1972 The Adventures of Barry McKenzie where Bazza (Barry Crocker) travels Europe looking for a good time while being Australian. Then a Transylvanian vampire count (Donald Pleasence) kidnaps his aunt Edna Everage (Barry Humphries) because he thinks she's the Queen so Barry has to save her. Hmm, another sequel that runs out of ideas and conjures up a ridiculous mistaken identity plot to fill the time. Barely funny but it's way better than Alvin Rides Again plus it has Clive James as the most drinking-est Aussie ever which is far and away the funniest thing in the movie.
A little bit of nudity from the movie. Aussie actress Nell Campbell shows her breasts in a striptease scene with stripper/model sensation Fiona Richmond. Katya Wyeth also shows her breasts and has done nudity in other movies including A Clockwork Orange. Plus Margo Reid shows a bit of bum crack in small underwear. Fun fact about Fiona Richmond, she was portrayed by Tamsin Egerton in the 2013 biopic The Look of Love with plenty of nudity from Tamsin.

Number 96: The Movie
Movie version of the massive TV hit that was also a big hit in cinemas. Basically more the same but a bit darker with the movie opening with a rape scene (don't worry, it was all a dream...). A couple of nude scenes from fan favourite Elaine Lee who also did a bit of nudity in the TV series (some of which can be seen here) plus stacks of nudity from Rebecca Gilling in an early role.
You can find a synopsis and the collages and videos from Number 96: The Movie here. A preview is below.

Petersen
Sophisticated adult drama from the director of Alvin Purple who (wisely) skipped being heavily involved with that movie (he is a credited writer so maybe he's behind that terrible plot). Actually feels a lot closer to his first movie 2000 Weeks but is much better realised than that movie plus has some pretty good performances from Jack Thompson as the brawler turned university student plus Wendy Hughes and Jacki Weaver as the women in his life. It also has a lot of Jack Thompson acting drunk which is never not the funniest thing ever.
A lot of nudity in this movie from Wendy Hughes, full frontal nudity from Jacki Weaver plus a public nudity scene from Belinda Giblin who's much better known for her sexy TV roles.
You can find a synopsis and the collages and videos from Petersen here. A preview is below.

Stone
Cult motorcycle movie that is incredibly grimy and tries to be realistic and turns out to be a lot of fun to watch. The plot is silly: a cultured undercover cop (Ken Shorter) attempts to join a gang whose members are being assassinated to work out who is doing it. Turns out it's the 'suits'. But it works and everyone looks like they enjoyed making it. Well, the men do...
Further nudity from Rebecca Gilling (see Number 96: The Movie above) including the famous mass skinnydipping scene plus a few nude scenes from the incredibly grungy Victoria Anoux. Other actresses are nude throughout the movie but I have no idea who any of them are (might need to have a closer look).

Yackety Yack
Very experimental satire about a bunch of Latrobe University film lecturers attempting to make movie on limited resources with a massive narcissist as a director who is not above editing the movie to remove any dissent and when that's not enough, he starts with the killing. Utterly ridiculous movie and at times way too talky but it's not without it's moments plus one of the film lecturers is John Flaus who would go on to be one of Australia's great character actors with a rather distinctive voice (and still acting today).
There's two actresses in the entire movie, one that turns up for a few seconds in the beginning and promptly disappears. Then Peggy Cole turns up, is stripped of her clothes and is mostly debased by the director despite her undying loyalty to him. Peggy was one of the lecturer's students and spends all bar the first twenty minutes of the movie completely naked hence the 18 minute video below. You'll also get a good guide of what the movie is like from the video and how it drags quite a bit.

Between Wars
Drama starring British actor Corin Redgrave as a world renowned psychiatrist who comes to Sydney after World War I and manages to change the way psychiatry is performed despite seemingly having a dislike of the science. Haven't seen this movie since I capped it but I remember being puzzled by it. There's no nudity in the movie but it does have sexy scenes from Pat Leehy.
You can find a synopsis and the videos from Between Wars here.
There's no nudity in the movies 27A (there is male nudity also has an all-male cast) and Peter Weir's debut feature The Cars That Ate Paris. I was unable to find a copy of the movie Matchless.
There's an explosion of movies in 1975 plus quite a few I haven't seen yet so I may need two updates to go through it.

Alvin Purple HD redux plus a related surprise
The last update I listed the quite extensive nudity from the 1973 movie Alvin Purple and was reminded that some of the HD videos I'd taken from a TV showing of the movie were edit. While I was making this update I wondered whether there were other things involving the actresses in this movie that could be capped and I remebered that Elli Maclure went to America and had a bunch of roles through the 80s and 90s. Sadly most of what she did was network TV guest work, doubtful much of anything to cap and definitely no nudity. Then I came across a listing for a 1976 Spanish movie El Calor de la Llama (The Heat of the Flame) which I decided to see if I can get a copy of. Sadly, the movie has not crossed into the digital divide but a fairly decent dubbed VHS rip is available. Elli is the lead actress of this movie, a Euro mystery thriller where her character is the prey for a killer who seems more interested in her body than killing her. So that means there's a few lengthy nude scenes in the second half of the movie, which can be seen below. A nice surprise.
Elli Maclure in El Calor de la Llama
36967kb 4min 38sec 848x360 (full frontal and rear nudity, tied up, extremely lengthy)
13191kb 1min 848x360 (breasts, bum, in bath, in towel)
20646kb 2min 05sec 848x360 (breasts/side-boob, lengthy)
Elli's only other nudity (AFAIK) is in the 1975 sex comedy The True Story of Eskimo Nell, where she briefly shows up as a prostitute and shows full frontal nudity in a scene where her fellow Alvin Purple co-star Kris McQuade is also nude. Gee the talent pool was incredibly small...
The 1974 update will hopefully be up in the coming days.
