Australian/New Zealand movies: 1983
There's a slight drop-off in the number of movies this year but a higher number of movies that are mostly long forgotten. To finish this update I had to make videos from 8 movies that I hadn't done yet and ended up doing so much more than I was planning. This looks like the norm for the rest of the 80s as I've probably only watched about half of what's available. So the following updates are going to be a struggle until we get to the 90s.
There's also quite a number of movies listed with 1982 at the end of the movie but got a release in 1983 including Going Down, Goodbye Paradise, Kitty and the Bagman, Midnite Spares, Now and Forever and The Return of Captain Invincible plus Double Deal was made in 1981 and had it's very small release delayed until 1983. It's hard-to-know what year to put some of these movie so it's a bit of guess.

At Last... Bullamakanka: The Motion Picture
Complete mess of a 'wacky' comedy about a bunch of local radicals who attempt to spoil things for the local mayor of Bullamakanka who's trying to impress the visiting boob of a prime minister. All while trying to rig the local elections, a beauty contest and a horse race that the mayor is also trying to rig. No real connection to anything in the plot, just things happening with pretty much every joke failing miserably while a slew of pointless cameos play out. The type of movie everyone involved would forget/deny they were involved in and another victim of the 10BA comedy curse.
There's one scene where Deni Gordon, Naomi Lisner and Susie Lindman strip naked and go into the water to provide a distraction for the radicals and we see all three women's breasts.
You can find a synopsis with videos from At Last... Bullamakanka: The Motion Picture here. A preview is below.

Buddies
Pretty much forgotten comedy about two life long friends Mike (Colin Friels) and Johnny (Harold Hopkins) who mine for sapphires in Queensland but have hit on tough times not helped by the rules about how they can mine in the area about to be changed. They get under the skin of a local profiteer (Dennis Miller) which starts an all-out war between the friends and the profiteer which ends in a pretty cool bulldozer fight. Not a bad little movie but such a niche subject that hasn't helped it being rediscovered.
Some brief nudity from Kris McQuade (again!) and Rhonda Carling-Rogers when her blanket gets caught as a bulldozer is baring down on the house she is in.

The City's Edge
Moody drama where Andy (Hugo Weaving on debut) moves into a boarding house that is teetering on the edge of something incredibly awful happening. There's Laura (Katrina Foster) who lives with her drug addicted brother Jim (Mark Lee) and in a relationship with Indigenous man Jack (Tommy Lewis) who seems to have control over her. As he tries to get a writing career up and running, Andy begins an affair with Laura which catches the ire of Jack but he and Andy eventually become friends but this boils over when they get into a fight with local hotheads wanting to bash some homosexuals and results in Jack stabbing one of the hotheads defending Andy. Things get immeasurably worse for them ending in unnecessary tragedies. Grim stuff but Weaving was already showing how good of an actor he'd become. Very frustrating watching people throw away their lives for not very much at all.
Some brief side-boob action from Katrina Foster leaving the bed a couple of times plus a stripper named Zero shows her breasts. Also interesting to see Joanne Samuel from Mad Max already relegated to sex worker roles.

Double Deal
Disastrous mess of an adult thriller where rich arsehole Peter (French actor Louis Jourdan) is tired of his younger model wife Christine (Angela Punch McGregor, the least likely actress to play a model ever). So he starts back up again with his long suffering secretary Miss Stevens (Diane Craig). Meanwhile, Christine becomes intrigued by a motorcycle helmet wearing weirdo (Warwick Comber) who is following her and together they decide to stage a phony kidnapping to get Peter's precious rare gemstone and run away together. From there it turns into who is conning who and honestly I didn't care by the end because the movie becomes incredibly silly. Both Jourdan and Punch McGregor are wasted in the movie and Warwick Comber's character is so baffling he doesn't even have a name. Just a poorly put together movie and it's no surprise that it was shot in 1981 but only given a token one cinema release in 1983. Deservedly forgotten.
Some brief nudity behind a shower screen from Angela Punch McGregor plus Diane Craig briefly shows her bottom and side of her right breast as she enters and gets out of a hot tub. It's actually quite strange seeing Diane Craig in sexy roles early in her career because she spent the better part of the 90s/2000s playing matriarch characters. She's actually quite sexy in this movie, one of the few memorable things about it.
I've capped this from a fairly decent VHS rip although the aspect ratio is strangely off. There's an obscure DVD of the movie I haven't gotten around to getting plus it's available of Umbrella's free (I think to just Australians) streaming service Broille.

Going Down
Set over the night before Karli (Tracy Mann) goes to New York for a new job, three of her friends Jane (Vera Plevnik), Jackie (Julie Barry) and Ellen (Moira MacLaine-Cross) decide to give her a farewell she'll won't forget (or remember). But trouble starts early when the $3,000 Karli's father gave her goes missing. She tries to have a good time with shady 'friend' Michael (Esben Storm) while Jane fucks her way through the night and Jackie tries her luck as a sex worker. Ends with a ridiculous mad dash to the airport even Richard Curtis (Notting Hill, Love Actually) would think was too much. A strange mix of comedy and social drama that doesn't quite work but isn't all bad.
Some brief nudity from Vera Plevnik while having sex in the back of a panel van and Moira MacLaine-Cross briefly shows her breasts before putting on a jumper.

Goodbye Paradise
Densely layered fever dream set in the craziness that was early 80s Bjelke-Petersen Queensland where disgraced former police commissioner Michael Stacey (Ray Barrett, startling great), now full-time drunk and wannabe writer, is dragged into the upcoming mess that is the breakaway Gold Coast State. He's been charged to find the errant daughter Cathy (Janet Scrivener in her only ever movie) of a senator by her father and what happens from there gets more bizarre and frantic by the minute. So much is going on I was still finding things out while capping it and I don't think I fully understand it. Crazy but infinitely interesting potboiler. Can't believe I've never seen this before...
There's some brief side-boob/hint of bottom from Janet Scrivener while she's presumed dead plus she's in a see-through dress. There's also nudity from a stripper character in two scenes who's strangely uncredited plus random nudity from unknown women throughout the movie. I have a feeling that woman changing in the video below might be Margaret Dupre, it looks like her plus she's listed as uncredited on IMDB.

Hostage: The Christine Maresch Story
aka Savage Attraction
Absolutely nutty 'based on a true story' about an abused girl Christine (Kerry Mack) who falls for a complete Nazi nut-job German dissident Walter (German actor Ralph Schicha). He coaxes Christine into his crazy world of Nazi takeover plots and his penchant for performing robberies to finance his lifestyle all while becoming incredibly possessive of her. She desperately tries to escape his clutches which ends on a boat in the middle of the sea and a baby with a crossbow. A movie that gets crazier by the minute and while it's debatable whether or not it's any good, it's certainly very watchable.
Multiple nude scenes from Kerry Mack, some very good nudity from her and even more in the fullscreen version of the movie.
You can find a synopsis with collages and HD and VHS fullscreen videos from Hostage: The Christine Maresch Story here. A preview is below.

Kitty and the Bagman
Bawdy comedy/drama set in 1920s Sydney loosely based on the razor gang wars during that time. Kitty O'Rourke (Liddy Clark) is left to fend for herself after her hopeless husband is jailed so she gets a job as a barmaid with Doris (Colette Mann) who tells her she needs to assert herself to get a husband. She meets Cyril (Gerard Maguire) who wants to set up a brothel and along the way pisses off local 'entrepreneur' Big Lil (Val Lehman) and the Bagman (John Stanton), a local cop who runs the town. The Bagman lets Kitty run Cyril's new brothel and she comes into competition with Big Lil setting off their own little battle. Movie that plays more as a bawdy comedy so it feels a bit dated and doesn't quite work overall.
There's a scene where Liddy Clark's breast falls out of her ripped dress while fighting another woman plus a couple of nude scenes from Centrespread's Kylie Foster including one where she's forced out onto the street naked by Kitty.
You can find a synopsis with collages and videos from Kitty and the Bagman here. A preview is below.

The Lost Tribe (NZ)
Weird thriller where an obsessed anthropologist Edward Scarry (John Bach) goes missing, so his wife Ruth (Darien Takle) calls his twin brother Max (also John Bach) to help look for him on a remote island that it known for where a 'lost tribe' was found to be living. It looks like Edward has been killed, possibly by the 'lost tribe' but his body hasn't been found and no-one is willing to look for him. So Max and Ruth go to the remote island leaving her daughter with the local police officer but she seems to have psychic powers and can see what is happening. The movie gets good purchase from the twin brother trope and hammers it into the ground. You know something shady is up with both twins but what it turns out to be is strangely more conventional than it was made out to be. Interesting but the film's idea of a 'lost tribe' turns out to be a bit of misnomer which is a shame.
A couple of lengthy nude scenes featuring Darien Takle who shows her breasts and bottom.

Darien Takle in The Lost Tribe
Man of Flowers
Paul Cox is back at his artiest. A middle aged man of indeterminate wealth Charles (Norman Kaye) enjoys the finer things in life which includes hiring a nude model (Alyson Best) to ogle. But things become complicated in her life with her drug addict poser artist boyfriend (Chris Haywood) so Charles offers her refuge and she ingratiates herself into his life, which he doesn't mind. Then her boyfriend gets off the drugs and realises he needs his cash cow back and bribes Charles into buying his art, which Charles thinks is crap. The boyfriend doesn't let up so Charles puts together a plan to end all their troubles. The plot is minimal and scenes go on forever and is mostly forgettable except for Charles' murder plot is an absolute doozy almost worth watching for that alone.
Plenty of nudity from Alyson Best plus full frontal nudity from Sarah Walker in her only acting role as she's now better known as a TV writer. Victoria Eagger briefly shows full frontal nudity and so does Hilary Kelly.

Midnite Spares
Another car action movie, this one played more for comedy with wannabe race car driver Steve (James Laurie) wanting to get back with his father but he has mysteriously disappeared. So he works with his father's wacky buddies at their mechanic shop while getting his car ready for racing. While he looks for his father, Steve comes across corrupt cops who help keep an intricate car stealing ring from being found out. He also falls for Ruth (Gia Carides) but he has to get the approval of her uncle and her voluminous family who look over her shoulder at all times. A fun movie that turns angry in the end and while the supporting cast is full of the usual loons, the lead actor is complete dead weight, rarely seen again.
A couple of nude scenes from in demand Playboy Playmate of the Year Amanda Dole including a pretty decent stripping scene.
You can find a synopsis with collages and HD videos from Midnite Spares here. A preview is below.
Amanda Dole in Midnite Spares
Moving Out
Teen drama based on a book every kid read in the 80s about Gino (Vince Colosimo on debut) who is the son of an immigrant who's trying to make his way but learns he's moving with the other Greek immigrants to Dandenong and thinks he's going to lose everything he has in his inner Melbourne suburb. Solid drama and Colosimo is well-cast in the lead.
No nudity in the movie but there's are some sexy scenes which are available here.
Now and Forever
Danielle Steel adaptation where Jessie (American actress Cheryl Ladd) comes home to her husband Ian (Robert Coleby) and everything seems fine until he is charged of raping another woman (Christine Amor), who he had an affair with. Despite an obvious false allegation, Ian is jailed and Jessie tries to get him out. Then she meets Geoffrey (Rod Mullinar) and things become further strained in her marriage. Typical Danielle Steel stuff all very melodramatic and soapy with a too ridiculous plot.
Cheryl Ladd goes for a nude swim where you sort of see something I guess.
You can find a synopsis with collages and videos from Now and Forever here. A preview is below.
Cheryl Ladd in Now and Forever
Prisoners (NZ unreleased)
Ooooh, this one is interesting. I'll let IMDB trivia set it up.
What are the odds it has something to do with a 19 year-old Tatum O'Neal doing scenes her daddy don't approve of. Check out this plot:
Too bad we'll never see it.
The Return of Captain Invincible
Superhero musical from nutty director Philippe Mora (Mad Dog Morgan) where American superhero Captain Invincible (Alan Arkin) retires to Australia after been drummed out during the McCarthy Trials. He is found years later by a local cop Patty (Kate Fitzpatrick) for the new American president (Michael Pate) to save the world from nutty bad guy Mr. Midnight (Christopher Lee). But he's a drunk and out-of-shape and it's up to Patty to get him back into shape. Typical Mora craziness where both Arkin and Lee go for it, even singing a few songs each. A weird, wild ride that doesn't quite work but is never boring. See the Director's Cut as the original release was butchered.
Only nudity in the movie is from some extras which Mora describes in his own typical way on the commentary. There's further sexy stuff from Kate Fitzpatrick, Amanda Dole, Cali and Kareen Michelle, who's only other movie was Goodbye Paradise (see above).
I've made HD upgrade videos from the movie which you can see below. You can find a synopsis with the HD videos from The Return of Captain Invincible here.

Skin Deep
Soapy TV set in a modelling agency run by two friends where things go to shit when one of their daughters starts modelling then a wannabe teenage model (very early role for Nicole Kidman) is found murdered. Then there's the sleazy agency client who likes to have his way with the models and sets his sights on the daughter. Don't forget the drunken host who likes showing his incredibly offensive 'elephant' impression. Absolute low rent TV soap stuff, completely forgettable.
There's no nudity in Skin Deep but I did make a bunch of videos which you can find here.
A Slice of Life
John D. Lamond is back again with this shambles of a comedy about Toby (British sitcom star Robin Nedwell) who goes in for surgery and has an 'accidental vasectomy' which ruins his chances of a family with his girlfriend (Juliet Jordan) but gives him the ability to have 'free sex' with the women that he meets. Then seven women come forward and say that he got them pregnant. Uh oh! Typical low rent Lamond stuff but he's dumped the sleaze and everything is fairly tame. Gotta love the sex worker who's happy to have unprotected sex with a man who tells her he had a vasectomy. Come on...
No nudity in the movie, a little bit of side-boob from Amanda Muggleton as the aforementioned sex worker plus a few other sexy scenes.

Trespasses (NZ)
aka Omen of Evil
Murder mystery set in (where else?) small town New Zealand where a typically randy cult leader (Frank Whitten) is murdered and the suspects include the young woman he impregnated Katie (British actress Emma Piper), her overbearing father (Patrick McGoohan being very Patrick McGoohan) or her boyfriend (Andy Anderson) who stupidly lured Katie into the cult. Apparently a feature length spin-off of the New Zealand TV series Mortimer's Patch which you wouldn't know as the original characters barely play a part into the final act. A strange mix of a proper movie and a TV movie.
A couple of brief nude scenes from Emma Piper plus Vivian Laube is in a very flimsy singlet top. The videos below are from a not bad VHS rip that I bought off an online source 15 years ago and I've only just looked at for the first time since. Ha...
Emma Piper in Trespasses
32266kb 1min 51sec 720x544 (breasts, lengthy)
Vivian Laube in Trespasses
38430kb 2min 16sec 720x544 (plenty of cleavage in see-through singlet top, various down blouses, lengthy)
The Winds of Jarrah
Mills and Boon adaptation set after World War II about a woman (Susan Lyons) who has run away from a bad relationship to take a job teaching kids on a remote farm run by their uncle (Terence Donovan). While there she flirts with other local men who work at the timber mill like Jack (Harold Hopkins) and Clem (Steve Bisley) but she burns a flame for the uncle (she needs to see Steve Bisley in his cut-offs from The Little Feller). Typical Mills and Boon melodrama, very tawdry and at only 75 minutes feels incredibly insubstantial. You know what's going to happen, you're just waiting for it to happen.
No nudity but Susan has a couple of scenes in a nightie.
Susan Lyons in The Winds of Jarrah
14848kb 54sec 744x560 (plenty of cleavage in nightie)
There's also a batch of movies that have no nudity in them including Australian favourite Phar Lap, a couple of early Nicole Kidman movies Bush Christmas and BMX Bandits plus the thriller Chase Through the Night featuring Nicole, the Wendy Hughes/John Hargreaves drama Careful He Might Hear You, a bunch of family movies Dusty, Molly (Claudia Karvan's debut) and Platypus Cove, an adaptation of The Wild Duck starring Liv Ullmann and Jeremy Irons, the court room drama With Prejudice and the footy comedy Warming Up. There's also the animated movies Abra Cadabra, Dot and the Bunny and Epic.
There's also a few New Zealand movies with nothing to cap including the David Bowie starring internment camp drama Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (with Takeshi Kitano), the brutal Maori revenge drama Utu and the wacky Tommy Lee Jones starring pirate movie Nate and Hayes aka Savage Islands. It is unknown what is in the movies The Body Corporate, Outbreak of Hostilities and the New Zealand movie Strata.
Now I'm running into the problem that the next few years have a lot of movies to get through and I might not be finished by the next Sunday plus it looks likely I might need more than one update. We'll see what happens but the next few years are stacked.

Insight: Pamela Stephenson
(Updated 11.07.2024) Recently, I've come across a couple of movies starring New Zealand-born, Australian-raised actress Pamela Stephenson in the recap of sexy stuff in Australian movies. She would go on to appear in a number of British and American comedy shows/movies and also a few horror movies in the late 70s/early to mid-80s. She was kind of a go to actress for doing sexy stuff in comedies and it's not hard to see why. I've capped a few over time but there's still a number of international productions I hadn't gotten around to capping and thought it might be time to take a look at what I could find.
First up is an early British role in the comedy sequel Stand Up Virgin Soldiers where she plays a love interest of one of the soldiers. Late in the movie she is getting ready to have sex with the soldier after spending a fair while in her underwear. Her character is nervous about having sex as it's her first time but she eventually takes off her underwear and we see her breasts for a while and then her bottom as she takes off her underpants and gets into bed. We then almost see full frontal nudity as she sits for a moment before getting under the covers. Probably the best of her nude scenes as all the others she's done are very brief.
Apologies for the quality, it is from a DVD rip but the size is not all the big. Hopefully something better will become available soon.
Pamela Stephenson in Stand Up Virgin Soldiers (1977)
13895kb 1min 02sec 528x400 (plenty of cleavage in nice dress, various upskirts)
29282kb 2min 18sec 528x400 (plenty of cleavage in nice dress, lengthy)
49730kb 6min 06sec 528x400 (breasts, brief bum almost full frontal nudity, bra and panties, stockings and suspenders, 'nude' under covers, extremely lengthy)
Next up is the horror movie The Comeback (which also goes under other names) where she plays the love interest of two characters in the movie before being bricked up in a wall by the killers. Pamela has a couple of scenes where she's naked, one in a car and another in bed but we don't really see anything but a little side-boob.
(Updated 11.07.2024) Back in April, I made an Insight update about Pamela Stephenson that went through her career and posted most of her nude and sexy scenes. One of the movies featured was the 1978 horror movies The Comeback. I received a message saying that in the fullscreen version of the movie you could see a nip slip from Pamela that you couldn't see in the widescreen version. Well, I found a fullscreen DVD the message was right. Also, I found that I had missed an earlier scene where you can see a fair portion of Pamela's bottom as it's been fondled by a bloke. I've included the scene in HD below plus a number of raw caps that may better show the scenes featured.
Pamela Stephenson in The Comeback (1978)
35721kb 40sec 1920x1038 (side-boob, 'nude' under covers)

84409kb 1min 24sec 1920x1038 (brief bum, panties, plenty of cleavage in nice dress, nippy)
Pamela turns up in the Mel Brooks comedy History of the World: Part 1 playing a French aristocrat who wants her father released from prison but the king will only do it if she has sex with him. A lot of cleavage in her scenes but no nudity.
Pamela Stephenson in History of the World: Part 1 (1981)
208337kb 3min 35sec 1920x812 (plenty of cleavage in corsetry/nice dress, extremely lengthy)
Finally we very briefly see Pamela's breasts in a sketch on the comedy skit show Not the Nine O'Clock News which is a nice surprise.

Australian/New Zealand movies: 1982 part 2
The second half of the movies 'released' in 1982. You can probably tell which movies I've watched in the last week or so (usually they have videos accompanying them and having more florid descriptions) and the movies I haven't watched in more than decade and am working off my synopses I wrote at the time to remind myself. It's about half-and-half in this update.
1982
Heatwave
The second of the movies based on the true story of people dying mysteriously in their home just as developers are trying to acquire their harbour front properties (first being The Killing of Angel Street). This time Judy Davis plays an independent journalist looking into the mysterious deaths of the locals in their homes and the closer she gets, the more danger she is in. Directed by Phillip Noyce, who was notoriously picky early in his career, this movie is driven by a typically great Judy Davis and veers a lot closer to what actually happened. Definitely the better of the similar movies.
Judy Davis briefly shows her breasts after sex while Gillian Jones shows her breasts and is in a G-string while playing a stripper.
You can find a synopsis with collages and videos from Heatwave here. A preview is below.

The Little Feller
aka The Other Woman
Brisbane-set stalker thriller where best friends Wendy (Lorna Lesley) and Glenda (Sally Conabere) do everything together and Wendy even lets Glenda mind her young son. Then Glenda spies Frank (Steve Bisley) in his cut-offs while doing repairs around the house and she completely loses her shit and obsessively goes after him. Her behaviour becomes incredibly erratic even accusing Frank of raping her but strangely the three patch things up. Except Glenda absolutely wants Frank and she tries to kill Wendy by electrocuting her then she takes their young son and behaves as if she's helping them get the boy back. Over-the-top stalker thriller, not too far removed from the dime-a-dozen Hallmark thrillers and boy does Sally Conabere lean into the nuttiness.
No nudity in the movie but a few sexy scenes featuring Sally Conabere plus Lorna Lesley in a bra. I don't think there's going to be a high quality upgrade of this movie ever but I'd love to see that incredibly dark scene with Sally in better quality.

Lonely Hearts
Paul Cox directed light comedy about a 50-something mother's boy Peter (Norman Kaye) who's mother just died so he's decided to finally get a girlfriend by signing up to a dating service who gets him 'someone special' in the younger, shy but also attached to her parents Patricia (Wendy Hughes). They hit it off and everything seems to be going well including Peter getting Patricia into acting in an amateur theatrical production but when they attempt to have sex and it freaks Patricia out and their relationship becomes strained. Peter doesn't handled it well and he ends up getting in trouble with the law. Written by comic great John Clarke, it's a rare dive into comedy for Cox and it's ends up being one of his best and most accessible movies. Kaye and Hughes are great and so are the supporting characters.
Wendy Hughes very briefly shows her breasts after she withdraws from sex. Hughes is on an absolute run with 5 consecutive movies with nudity (Two with blink and you'll miss nudity but it's there). It'll be interrupted by next year's Careful, He Might Hear You.

Monkey Grip
Melbourne-set, Sydney-shot drama based on the book by popular author Helen Garner where we follow Nora (Noni Hazlehurst) as she tries to bring up her teen daughter while starting a new relationship with the unreliable drug addict Javo (Colin Friels). She's also helping The Divinyls become big time (what a coup that they hit it big just as the movie was released!). The relationship between Nora and Javo becomes intense even with his issues. A pretty decent movie led by it's two leads particularly Hazlehurst in her first lead role.
Extensive nudity from Noni Hazlehurst throughout the movie.

Next of Kin
Oddball, visually-appealing horror thriller about a woman (Jackie Kerin) who returns to the retirement home which her mother ran until she died. The remaining old people start getting knocked off which strangely follow events detailed in her deceased mother's diary. She becomes convinced someone is killing the old people but no-one, not even her boyfriend (John Jarrett) believes her. Surprisingly decent movie with little unexpected touches and a not unsubtle Shining influence.
Brief nudity from Jackie Kerin.

The Pirate Movie
Nobody told me this was a musical... I thought it was going to be a swashbuckling lark but no, it's an incredibly annoying low-rent Pirates of Penzance knock-off, the vanity project of one of its stars Ted Hamilton. Basically, a dowdy young girl (Kristy McNichol) dreams the most uninteresting story about trying to get with handsome young devil (Christopher Atkins) while over-the-top musical numbers and bad comedy ring out. Funnily enough it was mostly shot on the Melbourne-based Polly Woodside where I left my jumper around the time they were filming this movie. I hope they found it...
No nudity but some brief sexy stuff from Kristy McNichol plus some bathing suit action from a number of women.

Running on Empty
Rare Western Australia set car action movie where Mike (Terry Serio) desperately wants into the drag race scene but hasn't got a way in until he strikes up a 'friendship' with Julie (Deborah Conway) who's got the eye of the head of the scene Fox (Richard Moir). After losing a race badly to Fox, Mike goes to the country to beat rubes in drag races to make some quick money and then gets the help of a blind mechanic (Max Cullen) who lends Mike his pride-and-joy to beat Fox once and for all. Very odd movie with plenty for the revheads but there's no heroes here and it has a strange dystopic vibe like this is happening at the end-of-the-world. Max Cullen would play a mechanic again in next year's Midnite Spares.
A couple of nude scenes from singer Deborah Conway in a rare acting role plus one bizarre nude running scene featuring Keli Roberts.

The Scarecrow (NZ)
Mystery thriller where a young girl is brutally murdered just as a mysterious drifter (John Carradine) arrives in town. Meanwhile two young boys try to join a local gang but they will only let them join if they let them have their way with their burgeoning young sister Prudence (Tracy Mann). Then the bodies start piling up and Prudence becomes a target. Interesting mystery movie even if it's fairly obvious who the killer is but it's other elements are what makes it interesting. According to the movies, small town New Zealand seems like a most horrible place to live.
Some brief side-boob from Tracy Mann.

Snow: The Movie
aka Snow Bunnies
Ooof... a contender for the worst Australian movie ever made. Plenty cashed in during the 10BA era including the rapidly growing Melbourne comedy scene and this was the first of a series of unbelievably terrible movies made by Melbourne comedians. Two absolute losers (David Argue and Lance Curtis) win a trip to the Victorian snowfields and they go looking to ski and to get laid. That's about it apart from 90 minutes of some of the worst, unfunniest improv comedy you're ever likely to see. Well there's also a terrible lot of padding which makes me wonder if the more widely available 75 minute version is better. A number of familiar faces to the Melbourne comedy scene feature but they would appear in better things so you never need to see this.
The only real nudity comes from a wet T-shirt contest. There is some brief side-boob from Peppie D'Or but you'll find much better nudity from her in Melvin, Son of Alvin and cult favourite Houseboat Horror.

Squizzy Taylor
Biopic of notorious 1920s Melbourne gangster 'Squizzy' Taylor (dance man David Atkins who also choreographed The Pirate Movie), who ran riot around Melbourne, commanding many people including the police and juries, giving a columnist some incredible scoops and also starring in his own movie. OK movie with decent period detail but is a little held back by Atkins not really being an actor despite having Squizzy's small physique.
Kim Lewis briefly shows her breasts in one scene.

Starstruck
Gillian Armstrong's follow-up to excellent My Brilliant Career is a pop musical about Jackie (Jo Kennedy) who with the help (or hindrance) of her cousin Angus (Ross O'Donovan) attempts to become a big star. She then catches the eye of the host of the biggest music show in the country after one of her stunts is broadcast on TV. But her rise hits a snag when they dial down her persona and attempt to re-create her so that she could be digestible for the big show at the Sydney Opera House. Obviously not a fan of musicals (see The Pirate Movie above) but this movie is pretty enjoyable and has some good songs. Always wondered why Jo Kennedy never became a bigger star.
A couple of brief nude scenes from Jo Kennedy in this PG-rated movie.

Sweet Dreamers
From the director of Journey Among Women this is a drama about two Australian people (Richard Moir and Sue Smithers) who meet in London and bond over trying to get a romantic movie made without compromise. After some heavily compromised interest from America they come back to Australia and start a family while still trying to get the movie up despite numerous setbacks. Fairly niche movie that follows two people on an impossible journey which seems out-of-date in the 10BA free-for-all.
Sue Smithers briefly shows her bottom and the side of her breast while getting out of bed and changing.

Turkey Shoot
aka Escape 2000, Blood Camp Thatcher
Brian Trenchard-Smith schlock-fest is basically a dystopian Most Dangerous Game where a newcomer to a 're-education' camp Chris (Olivia Hussey) causes a stir amongst the guards and a freedom fighter (Steve Railsback). It seems Chris is been 'kept' for the boss of the camp so that she can be his prey for the upcoming stalk-and-chase game. Meanwhile a plan is in place to escape the camp during the game. Silly stuff that's incredibly boring during the camp stuff but livens up once the hunt is on helped by some pretty decent stunts and effects scenes. Roger Ward as the head guard is working at previously unseen levels of nuttiness. Notoriously had a lot issues while filming and it shows.
Some brief body double nudity from Olivia Hussey although we do see her hair covering her breasts in the shower scene. Also a couple of scenes where we see Lynda Stoner's bottom including as a dead body. There's also some group shower scenes with naked women.

The Year of Living Dangerously
Peter Weir directed political thriller set in Indonesia during 1965 just as President Suharto decides to crack down on the rise of communism (and boy did he...). New ABC Indonesia correspondent Guy Hamilton (Mel Gibson) arrives in Jakarta in a baptism of fire and immediately seems out place until he meets Billy Kwan (Linda Hunt, who won an Oscar for this role), a photographer who has contacts everywhere and decides to help Guy. Things start to go well for Guy then he meets a British attaché (Sigourney Weaver) and it isn't long before they fall for one another. Then the crack down begins and things become harder to everyone. First international production for Weir and Gibson, who really is a star in this movie. Hard-to-believe Linda Hunt had hardly done any acting before this movie, a role she would not even be considered for now but she does an amazing job at the physical embodiment of Billy.
No nudity in the movie but both Sigourney Weaver and Kuh Ledesma are in bathing suits.

As always there's further movies that have nothing to cap in them including the sweeping epic romances The Man from Snowy River and We of the Never Never, the WWII drama The Highest Honor, the arty mystery thriller The Plains of Heaven, the teen drama Fighting Back, the terrible teen tries to bed older lady 'comedy' "Norman Loves Rose", the telemovie On the Run plus a bunch of kids movies like Ginger Meggs, Fluteman, the animated Sarah and Runaway Island. There's also no nudity in the Michael Beck starring New Zealand dystopian Mad Max knock-off Battletruck aka Warlords of the 21st Century. It is unknown if there's any nudity in A Most Attractive Man and I wasn't able to get a copy of the kids' circus movie Wilde's Domain although there's no nudity in it but there might be some scenes to cap.
Not as many movies to cap in 1983 although there's still plenty to do so I might just leave it to one update next weekend.

Australian/New Zealand movies: 1982 part 1
It really picks up in 1982 with a lot more movies being made thanks to the 10BA tax credit. Which is great for something to watch but it also means that the quality of the movies made take a significant drop in quality in some cases with movies clearly being made to cash in. That's not to say there's some good movies being made, there's just a wider gap in quality now,
With the amount of movies made, I've decided to split the 1982 update into two parts.
1982
Airhawk: Star of the North
Silly little telemovie about a pair of pilot brothers who go on-the-run with their girlfriends from an unknown group of crooks who want them dead for some reason. Turns out one of the brothers is involved in diamond smuggling but it takes an eternity to find this out but not nearly as long as the crooks waiting to go after them in a remote house they have cornered. There's one baffling scene where someone takes pot shots at them from a plane while they on top of a building. Then it ends in the most bizarre way possible with the diamond smuggler being killed but not by the crooks and for the most ridiculous of reasons.
No nudity but a swimsuit scene featuring Louise Howitt and Elli Maclure.

Breakfast in Paris
Another year, another John D. Lamond movie, this time a tepid comedy/drama about a career woman (Valley of the Dolls star Barbara Parkins) who goes to Paris for work and comes across the most annoying person she's ever met on the plane, a photographer (Rod Mullinar) who tries to get with her in Paris. She finally relents but then he doesn't fit into her busy lifestyle and the movie turns into a will they/won't they melodrama. For a movie mostly set in Paris is sure does look like Melbourne.
Some brief nudity from Barbara Parkins while in bed.

Barbara Parkins in Breakfast in Paris
Brothers (Aus/NZ)
Terry Bourke tries a more dramatic, slightly less sleazy movie and still can't help himself. After two journalist brothers survive a massacre in Timor (based on a real life massacre), both brothers go their separate ways with one brother Adam (Chard Hayward) continuing on as a photographer in war zones while Kevin (Ivar Kants) moves to New Zealand and has shacked up with a rather staid woman (Alyson Best in her least sexiest role ever). They catch-up after 4 years but both have changed dramatically and PTSD has affected the both of them. Bourke is out-of-his-depth with the more serious material and there's a final scene so out-of-place in the movie it seems to be there so that Bourke can do at least one crazy scene.
Some brief nudity from Jennifer Cluff and Margaret Laurence behind a shower screen.
You can find a synopsis with collages and videos from Brothers here. A preview is below.

Carry Me Back (NZ)
Comedy about two useless brothers (Goodbye Pork Pie's Kelly Johnson and Middle Age Spread's Grant Tilly) who travel with their farmer father to the big rugby game and stay overnight in town only to find their father dead in his bed. The brothers work out that they can only inherit the farm if their father dies on the farm so they hatch a plan with their aunty (Dorothy McKegg) to smuggle him back home without anyone finding out. But every way they try ends in a new problem. Silly but quite funny movie as the antics get more wacky the closer they get to home.
Both Angelique Meyer (as a stripper) and Katy Platt (as the 'exotic' masseuse) are nude in the movie.

The Clinic
Mild ensemble comedy set over one day in a Melbourne sexual health clinic where everything happens. There's the seen-it-all staff who go through the motions of another day. There's a doctor (Simon Burke) on his first day who is very reluctant to be there but learns a valuable lesson. There's the various patients including the man reluctant about his issues, the man who loses his job because he has an STI then kills himself. A lot of little vignettes that are never really that funny but it's not all that bad.
Some brief nudity from Terrie Sinclair as one of the patients.
Terrie Sinclair in The Clinic
2014kb 8sec 720x544 (brief bum and panties)
Crosstalk
Rear Window knock-off where the voyeur is actually a computer. The computer's creator Ed (Gary Day) is left disabled in an accident where his brakes are cut in his car but he tries to finish the program. Then the computer sees a murder and attempts to get the attention of Ed and his nurse (Kim Deacon). The Rear Window formula is pretty solid and this is an interesting twist on that.
No nudity in the movie but you can find a synopsis with videos from Crosstalk here. Sadly the VHS rip is poorly framed but there's an upcoming Bluray which will hopefully rectify this.
A Dangerous Summer
aka
Flash Fire
Thriller involving the shonky dealings with an insurance company who go after a developer (American actor Tom Skeritt) and anyone who gets in his way. Meanwhile an insurance investigator (James Mason in one of his last roles) attempts to find out what is going on. Or something. The movie makes no sense while being completely predictable and has a story not worth watching. A movie that most involved will reject being involved in.
Some fairly sleazy nudity from Wendy Hughes (who's completely wasted here) and Kim Deacon, just like they both did in the previous year's Hoodwink.
You can find a synopsis with collages and videos from A Dangerous Summer here. A preview is below.

Daphne and Chloe (NZ)
60 minute drama about two middle aged best friends (Helena Ross and Joy Watson) who works at an office where a new young man (Michael Hurst) joins the staff. One of the women and the young man take a liking to one another and eventually fall in love while the office gets all gossipy about it and her friend feels left out. But things don't go to plan and it ends badly and the woman doesn't take it well. Pretty basic stuff.
Some brief nudity from Helena Ross as she goes for a nude swim.
Helena Ross in Daphne and Chloe
The Dark Room
Stalker thriller where a fey young arts student takes a liking to a wannabe actress (Anna Maria Monticelli) that becomes obsessive and it turns out it is because the actress is having an affair with his father and he wants her all for himself. Pretty standard stalker thriller that's extremely obscure now.
A couple of brief nude scenes from Anna Maria Monticelli plus a wet see-through dress scene.

Dead Easy
Kings Cross-set thriller where a wannabe entrepreneur (Scott Burgess) meets a sex worker (Rosemary Paul) and wants to make her a star at a club he's trying to get up and running. But there's a number of things standing in his way then he eventually falls for her. 80 minute movie that has a lot going on apart from the main plot already mentioned.

Desolation Angels
aka
Fair Game
Stalk and chase thriller where three teenage girls who are off to party after their final exams get run off the road by a couple of panel vans and they barely escape only to find that where they're are going is also where the panel vans are going. Meanwhile a woman working for a bookie also arrives in town and then all of them are stalked by seemingly everyone in town. Early Frost
Seedy potboiler set in Sydney where middle-aged women are getting bumped off and dragged into their pools. The next victim seems to be Val Meadows (Diana McLean) who is electrocuted but somehow survives and ends up blaming her shiftless son (Jon Blake on debut). A private detective looks into the killings and finds out that Val was supposed to be next but who is the killer? A completely baffling movie that may not even give away the killer, only mentions Val's eventual death in a newspaper clipping and quite possibly was not even finished which would explain why there's no credited director. Ah the 10BA come up with some absolute shockers...
Some brief nudity from Diana McLean as she is interrupted during sex by her son.

Diana McLean in Early Frost
Far East
Philippines-set political thriller where an Australian bar owner (Bryan Brown) is introduced to investigative journalist (John Bell) and his French-accented lover (Helen Morse) who has a past with the bar owner. They get back together but when the journalist is arrested for digging too deep into how the local factories are run, the bar owner is asked to help get him out using his local connections but decides to do all the dirty work himself. Another solid John Duigan movie, basically an 'unofficial' remake of Casablanca helped by re-teaming Brown and Morse from the hit mini-series A Town Like Alice.
No nudity in Far East but there are a few sexy videos from the movie which can be found here.
Freedom
Jon 'Sonny' Blake's first starring role as young man who steals his dream car, a Porsche 911, and goes on the run. Along the way he meets a young woman (Jad Capelja, whose only other movie was Puberty Blues) and they go off together doing things that she wants to do. Eventually the police catch up to them and the man does his best to avoid them eventually driving into oblivion. That's basically the movie, little plot just enjoying the ride and while there's not much to say about it, the movie is never boring.
Jad Capelja briefly shows her breasts in one scene.
You can find a synopsis with collages and videos from Freedom here. A preview is below.

That's about half of the movies for 1982. Pretty much all of the terrible movies of 1982 are in this update and things gets a little better in the next update which will hopefully be on Sunday.

Australian/New Zealand movies: 1981
Things are slowly starting to pick up with the announcement of the 10BA tax rebate which meant that people could invest in Australian movies and get a 150% deduction on the amount they invested plus only pay tax on half of the income that the movie made. This had it's positives (more movies and jobs) and negatives (movies were shittier or just never released). We only see a small uptick in 1981.
This year is when both sleaze-masters John D. Lamond and Terry Bourke released their most sleaziest movies plus a contender for the sleaziest Australian movie of all, Centrespread, was also released. I guess we can call 1981 the sleaziest year for movies in Australia.
1981
Centrespread
One of the most baffling movies ever made in Australia. The best I can say is it's a softcore sci-fi drama where the main character is a photographer (Paul Trahair) who stays alive by completing the photographic shoots ordered by an unseen corporation. The shoots usually involve very naked women. One day he comes across a woman (Kylie Foster) in an antique shop on the poor side of town and he becomes obsessed with her and wants her to model in one of his shoots. Meanwhile he becomes more disillusioned with the status quo and begins to rebel against it. The best I can say is it has a couple of decent pop songs from Lisa Edwards that bookend the movie. Oh and the nudity...
The plot is unnecessary when there's dozens of naked women on display. Hard-to-know who's who in some of these scenes but at least they are diligently credited as per scene.
Thanks to the great Umbrella Bluray of Centrespread there are also some great extras about the movie including the documentary Behind The Centrespread where there's a whole bunch of further videos from behind-the-scenes including of Kylie Foster plus a bunch of actresses who just auditioned for the movie. You can find them here.

Duet for Four
Romantic drama written by David Williamson about a middle-aged man (Mike Preston) who's unhappy in marriage with Barbara (Wendy Hughes), who's cheating on him. No problem as he's cheating on her (Clare Binney) while his ex (Diane Cilento) is on his back especially about her new lover. Then there's his daughter (Sigrid Thornton) who's a drug addict. And the Americans want to buy his company. It's all a tangled web and very adult.
Some brief nudity from Wendy Hughes and Clare Binney.

Hoodwink
Muddled story, apparently based on a true story, about a robber (John Hargreaves) who's also great at escaping. In jail once more his latest plan to escape involves pretending to be blind but along the way he becomes involved with a pastor and his wife (Judy Davis) who change his life or does it?. If this story wasn't 'real' it would be too ridiculous to believe. Apparently it was a disaster to make and it shows.
Quite a bit of nudity from Wendy Hughes (again!) and Kim Deacon.

The Killing of Angel Street
One of two movies made based on a the true story about the strong-handing of people living on a street in front of the Sydney harbour by ruthless developers (the other in next year's Heatwave). A woman (Elizabeth Alexander) returns from overseas to find her father is being kicked out of the only home he's known but he's not going without a fight even with neighbour's houses are being flattened around him. Then her father is found dead in mysterious circumstances and the woman decides to find out what is going on and what she finds puts her in hot water.
No nudity but a quick scene of Elizabeth Alexander in a bathing suit.

Lady, Stay Dead
Terry Bourke is back with this incredibly sleazy stalker thriller where a gardener (Chard Hayward) becomes obsessed with an actress (Deborah Coulls) who is spending time at her sister's house. After bumping off a neighbour, the gardener sets his sights on having sex with the actress only for her to reject him. So he rapes her and when she still rejects him, he drowns her in a fish tank. Then her sister (Louise Howitt) comes home and the gardener set his sights on her but she's not quite as easy-to-kill as her sister was. Not as bad as it could've been, probably helped by the gardener becoming incredibly inept and a surprisingly suspenseful ending.
A fair bit of nudity from Deborah Coulls plus a number of scenes in see-through dresses. Some brief nudity in the shower from Louise Howitt. I've also capped the fullscreen version of the movie which shows a little more in some scenes. Apparently a fullscreen version is going to be available on the upcoming Umbrella Bluray which could be interesting. There's also a scene where a bunch of very naked women who are being tortured.

Mad Max 2
aka The Road Warrior
Superb follow-up to Mad Max, some say the best action movie ever made and it's hard to disagree (it's great but I kinda like the original slightly better). Also probably the most ripped off movie ever hell even Fury Road is basically a movie lengthy version of the final act of this movie.
Some brief nudity from Anne Jones (second movie of the year after Centrespread - see above) and Kathleen McKay.

Pacific Banana
John D. Lamond was really churning them out at quicker than one-a-year, this time the ultra sleazy bawdy comedy Pacific Banana about an Alvin Purple-type pilot (umm..why not the guy who played Alvin Purple Graeme Blundell) who flies a cheap airliner to the Pacific Islands and attracts all the women but unlike Alvin, he can't get it up. The comedy is awful, the numerous ladies are sexy and the tropical locales also look great. Absolutely looks like they just made a movie at the closest tropical location they could afford to have a holiday.
Extensive nudity from Alyson Best (again!), Deborah Gray and Manuia Taie plus some brief nudity from Helen Hemingway playing the world's oldest school girl and British actress Luan Peters. There's also numerous women who also feature naked in the movie but I don't know their names although I'm pretty sure one of them is Angela Menzies-Wills, who is credited in the movie.

Puberty Blues
Classic 'girls can't surf' movie about two teenage girls (Nell Schofield and Jad Capelja) who hang around the surfers every day mainly to be with the boys but they also want to have a go at surfing and the boys won't let them. Very much a harsh look at girls coming-of-age in the incredibly sexist Sydney surf scene where all the boys want to do is fuck the girls. Expertly directed by Bruce Beresford and is well worth a look. Spawned an also very good TV series of the same name.
Plenty of bikini action but the only nudity in the movie is from an unknown woman walking without a bikini top on the beach.

Race for the Yankee Zephyr (Aus/NZ)
aka Treasure of the Yankee Zephyr
Producer Antony I. Ginnane pissed off the Australian actors union so much he went to New Zealand to make movies. This and Strange Behaviour/Dead Kids were made in New Zealand with a number of international actors and released in 1981. Basically an adventure story about a pilot (Ken Wahl) and hunter (Donald Pleasence) who find a long lost war-plane called the 'Yankee Zephyr'. They find out quickly that everyone wants it because it supposedly has $50 million in gold on it. Directed by actor David Hemmings who was very busy in this side of the world during this time (he directed the previous year's The Survivor and is very good in the docudrama Beyond Reasonable Doubt).
No nudity in the movie but there is a video of Lesley Ann Warren in a wet singlet at the following link.
Roadgames
aka Road Games
Hitchcockian-thriller from Hitchcock scholar Richard Franklin where a truck driver (Stacy Keach) travelling from Melbourne to Perth picks up a hitchhiker (Jamie Lee Curtis) and finds that a serial killer is following him and he attempts to capture him before he kills the both of them. Surprisingly good suspense for a movie that could've easily failed.
Sort of nudity from Angelica La Bozzetta as she plays a guitar in her hotel room before being killed.
You can find a synopsis with a HD video from Roadgames here. A preview is below.
Angelica La Bozzetta in Roadgames
Smash Palace (NZ)
Effective domestic thriller from director Roger Donaldson about a man (Bruno Lawrence) who's tumultuous relationship with his wife (Australian actress Anna Maria Monticelli) ends but he wants to be with his daughter so he kidnaps her and goes into hiding. Lawrence is fantastic here playing a mix of friendly and nasty and the movie is very well made. New Zealand films really had that despairing domestic relationship mood down pat (see also the horrifying Bad Blood from the same year).
Anna Maria Monticelli shows her breasts and bottom in two scenes including a rape scene.
You can find a synopsis with collages and HD videos from Smash Palace here. A preview is below.
Anna Maria Monticelli in Smash Palace
Winter of Our Dreams
Drama about a prostitute (Judy Davis) who becomes connected to a book shop owner (Bryan Brown) after the suicide of a mutual acquaintance. The book shop owner investigates the death and comes across the prostitute and tries to get to the bottom of why his ex-girlfriend killed herself even setting her up in his house where he lives in an open relationship with his wife (Cathy Downes). They find the dead woman's diary which helps the prostitute try to turn her life around but then she starts making the same mistakes as the dead woman. Interesting drama from John Duigan, very adult and dark with two great performances from Judy Davis and Bryan Brown.
Some nudity from Judy Davis and Cathy Downes in a number of scenes. Also a couple of women are sunbathing topless by a river.

Unknowns in Winter of Our Dreams
A few movies didn't have anything to cap including the Australian ANZAC classic Gallipoli, another Mel Gibson war movie Attack Force Z, the poor romantic comedy The Best of Friends, two Indigenous docudramas Two Laws: A Film in Four Parts and Wrong Side of the Road and a bunch of kid/family movies including Doctors & Nurses, Mystery at Castle House, Run Rebecca, Run!, Save the Lady and one of those animated Dot movies Around the World with Dot. Also the New Zealand co-production Dead Kids/Strange Behaviour and the harrowing true story Bad Blood. It is unknown whether there's anything to cap in the New Zealand movie Pictures but considering it's PG rated I have my doubts.
Things start to pick up from here to the point where 1982 might have to done over 2 updates.

Australian/New Zealand movies: 1980
Sneaking in a quick update mid-week as there's not a lot of movies with nudity released in 1980 and I've already capped all bar one making my job easier. A real lull in 1980 for Australian movies as the money that was flowing from the mid-70s has dried up. Having said that there's some decent nudity in movies released this year so it's not all bad.
1980
The Chain Reaction
Paranoid nuclear threat thriller made by the pretty much the same cast and crew that made Mad Max (George Miller is one of the producers) including a cameo from Mel Gibson. A couple (Steve Bisley and Arna-Maria Winchester) go away for a weekend away to a remote cabin only to be interrupted by an injured doctor who stumbles on their cabin after escaping from the leaking nuclear plant nearby. They help him out but the bosses don't want any word of the leak getting out so they attempt to kill the three of them. Lots of car chases, Hugh Keays-Byrne plays a good guy for once and Frankie J. Holden plays a mechanic named 'Farts'. What's not to like?
A few decent nude scenes from Arna-Maria Winchester including the iconic nuclear shower scene where strangely you see more in the DVD version than the Bluray version.

Arna-Maria Winchester in The Chain Reaction
The Club
Another adaptation of a David Williamson play, this time about the inner workings of the Collingwood Football Club during a tumultuous season with the main consternation being between the coach (Jack Thompson) and the president (Graham Kennedy). Pretty decent look at how Australian Rules is played and run including using actual players from the real club although it's fairly dated now. Thankfully the on-field footage is mostly real games with actor John Howard inserted into the footage although as an old Fitzroy fan I'm not happy seeing my side getting knocked off in the 'Grand Final' (actual semi-final from 1979 - Collingwood lost in a very famous Grand Final).
Very brief nudity from a stripper played by Toni-Gay Shaw. Funnily enough there was a player (and eventual club legend) called Tony Shaw who played for Collingwood at the time. No relation I'm guessing...
You can find a synopsis with videos from The Club here. A preview is below.

Death Games
aka
Final Cut
Sordid erotic thriller where a wannabe reporter (Lou Brown) and his girlfriend (Jennifer Cluff) go to a sleazy record producer's (David Clendenning) house and attempt to get evidence of his terrible behaviour that could involve murder. But they both fall under his and his wife's (Narelle Johnson) spell. Very silly stuff with a plot that makes no sense but there's plenty of nudity from Jennifer Cluff and from various unknowns.
One of two movies made by the government funded Queensland Film Corporation (the other is Touch and Go), so it was an early attempt to actually make movies in Queensland as there had been very few before this.
And in good news Umbrella have announced that it is putting this movie (along with Crosstalk and Lady, Stay Dead) out on Bluray in June which is a nice and unexpected surprise as the movie had been pretty much forgotten and only available in VHS quality.
You can find a synopsis with collages and videos from Death Games here. A preview is below.

Goodbye Pork Pie (NZ)
Rollicking car chase movie technically the debut feature from Geoff Murphy where Gerry (Kelly Johnson) hires a Mini Minor with stolen money and then gives John (Tony Barry) a ride but the police attempt to catch up with them as they race into oblivion. Meanwhile the whole country becomes fascinated with the pursuit. Very fun movie, more than it has any right to be and far more than the tepid 2017 remake.
Some brief nudity from Clare Oberman and Shirley Gruar.

Hard Knocks
Innocuous bad girl goes straight drama where teenage Samantha (Tracy Mann) gets out of juvenile detention and tries to go 'straight' but finds it's harder than she thought. She gets involved in modelling but it turns out to get better gigs she has to sleep with the booker. Also the cops that put her in jail want to put her back in there. Minor movie that is helped greatly by a good lead performance by Tracy Mann and a 75 minute runtime.
There's a couple of scenes where Tracy Mann shows her breasts.
You can find a synopsis with collages videos from Hard Knocks here. A preview is below.
Tracy Mann in Hard Knocks
Harlequin
Thriller with an international cast about a man dressed as a 'harlequin' (Robert Powell) who befriends a cancer-afflicted senator's son and miraculously cures his cancer. The harlequin is welcomed into the family but the senator is skeptical about his motives and looks into him while the harlequin befriends his family. When the maid accuses the harlequin of rape, he is thrown in jail and bad things start to happen to the family and those close to them. Surprisingly good movie with some genuinely creepy and wild scenes when the harlequin performs his tricks.
A couple of nude scenes from Alyson Best who would have quite a few nude scenes in early 80s Australian movies.
You can find a synopsis with collages and HD videos from Harlequin here. A preview is below.
Alyson Best in Harlequin
...maybe this Time
Romantic drama about an unlucky in love woman Fran (Judy Morris) who is in a fruitless relationship with a university lecturer (Mike Preston) and also with a married political manipulator (Bill Hunter). After both relationships blow up, she goes back to live with annoying mother for a while and gets into a relationship with an old friend (Ken Shorter) who's a bit of weenie. So will she ever find love? Dated and frustrating movie about a woman who's just never satisfied with what she has and seems like she'll never find the love she desperately wants and honestly, I don't really care whether she does or not.
Some brief flashes of nudity from Judy Morris in a few scenes including showing her bottom as she walks naked into the sea plus Jude Kuring shows her breasts as she threatens to start a threesome with her husband and his lover.

Nightmares
aka Stage Fright
John D. Lamond strikes again, this time with a terrible slasher movie set in movie theatre with a killer that has a serious aversion to sex which wouldn't be so bad if everyone wasn't doing it. American actress Jenny Neumann plays a skittish actress cast alongside hopeless soap opera heart-throb (Gary Sweet) in a play doomed to failure even without the murders. It's incredibly obvious who the killer is from the beginning and Lamond has no idea how to make a horror movie but strangely there's some good kills and a loony sense of humour that almost makes it work.
Plenty of nudity in the movie including in two rather sleazy murder scenes.

Touch and Go
All-women heist comedy where long-time friends children's entertainer Eva (Wendy Hughes), woman of luxury Fiona (Chantal Contouri) and locksmith Millie (Carmen Duncan) commit a few robberies for a little extra money for themselves and a school run by a friend. But when it's announced on the radio that they stole $60,000 but they only got $12,000 it looks like those they robbed got more than they did by ripping off their insurance company. So the girls decide to go big and set their sights on a new casino in Surfers Paradise and recruit some woman with specialised skills to help. They pull off the robbery perfectly but it's getting away with it that becomes the problem. Fun light comedy that never sets it's heights high and all the women are well-skilled and all the men in their lives are dopes. The final act gets a bit silly when the women turn from heist specialists to bumbling idiots when they try to get their hands on the money. But it's a not a bad little movie.
Second of the Queensland Film Corporation movies for the year after Death Games/Final Cut.
Very brief breasts from Wendy Hughes as she changes (literally frames) plus a few sexy scenes along the way.

A Woman of Good Character (NZ)
50 minute drama from David Blyth (Angel Mine) about an Englishwoman (Sarah Peirse) who comes to New Zealand to take a job as a housekeeper but finds that her employer is a massive arsehole and treats her like crap. She finds solace in a local weirdo (Bruno Lawrence) while the family she works for starts dying off because living on the land is hard going. Nothing but misery.
Some brief nudity from Sarah Peirse as she washes herself in a stream.

Sarah Peirse in A Woman of Good Character
Quite a few movies with no nudity from 1980 including Boer War courtroom drama 'Breaker' Morant, the first Tasmanian movie about an Indigenous woman helping a lost little girl Manganinnie, violent prison drama Stir, international actor led movies The Earthling and The Survivor, heist drama Blood Money, political thriller Against the Grain and a bunch of kids movies including Fatty Finn, Cornflakes for Tea, Mystery Island, Dead Man's Float and animated movie Grendel Grendel Grendel. There was also no nudity in New Zealand movies Beyond Reasonable Doubt (a decent courtroom docudrama), Lincoln County Incident and Nutcase while it is unknown whether there's anything to cap in Squeeze.
Should get the next update out on Sunday, there or thereabouts.

Australian/New Zealand movies 1979
The final year of the 1970s and the Australian film industry begins to go through a lull that would last a few years until the 10BA tax rule kicks in.
1979
Alison's Birthday
Occult thriller about a teenage girl Alison (Joanne Samuel also of Mad Max - see below) who is summoned to her aunty and uncle's house for her 19th birthday full well knowing that she will be used for an occult ritual on her birthday. She brings along her boyfriend but things are off from the beginning and then the boyfriend is ostracised by the uncle until he discovers that her relatives are not who they seem. Initially a telemovie that was put on the shelf until 1981 for a brief theatrical run and definitely has the feel of a telemovie. Has it's moments but is definitely a minor effort.
There's no nudity in the movie but I made a few videos of Joanne Samuel which you can find along with a synopsis of Alison's Birthday here.
Dawn!
Biopic of iconic Australian swim champ Dawn Fraser who won gold in 3 consecutive Olympics (1956-1964) in the 100 metres freestyle. Basically an overview of her life as a ballsy teenage girl who was discovered being competitive while mucking around with the boys to winning multiple medals then copping a 10 year ban for stealing an Olympic flag at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. We get a bit of her romantic life but it's all a bit inconsequential and uninteresting though it does hint at she may have had lesbian tendencies. Bronwyn Mackay-Payne won a talent contest to play Dawn and certainly looks the part although is limited in her acting ability. It would be her only ever role.
Some brief side-boob from Bronwyn and a number of bathing suit scenes in the movie but no real nudity as it's all fairly mild. Sadly the videos have interlacing issues, fantastic considering it's from a DVD.

Demolition
I haven't watched this movie as I didn't think I'd find anything to cap and the video below is relatively mild and made for completist reasons only. The IMDB summary for this telemovie is 'The British government experiments with sound tests and discovers that it can completely erase a person's memory' which makes it sound absolutely wild. Another telemovie starring John Waters.

Dimboola
Adaptation of the hit comedy play about an English journalist (Max Gillies) who witnesses the rituals of the people in the titular small Victorian country town as they prepare for the wedding of Morrie and Maureen (Bruce Spence and Natalie Bate). Things go wrong when Maureen discovers a photo of Morrie playing up with a stripper (Clare Binney) during his buck's party. Incredibly dated movie hampered by the narrative device of seeing the story unfold through the eyes of the journalist which doesn't work at all and strangely doesn't actually happen in the play.
Clare Binney shows her breasts during the stripping scene while Laurel Frank, Sue Ingleton and Claire Dobbin all show their bottoms and hints of their breasts as they run naked in the woods.

Just Out of Reach
No idea what this 50 minute movie is about as I haven't seen it but there's a video available from the movie that seems to show all of the (fairly lengthy) nudity shown by Lorna Lesley. Movie also stars Sam Neill in an early Australian role (see My Brilliant Career also released in 1979)
You can find a synopsis with a video from Just Out of Reach here. A preview is below.

Kostas
Another Paul Cox movie, his third, where a Greek immigrant taxi driver Kostas (Takis Emmanuel) falls for a passenger Carol (Wendy Hughes) who he basically stalks until she decides to go out with him. Things don't quite go to plan and his homeland is calling particularly when his mother dies. One of the more accessible Cox movies but not his most interesting.
Wendy Hughes briefly shows her breasts before getting into bed.

Mad Max
Beginning of the archetypal series of movies following Max Rockatansky (Mel Gibson) who starts off as a policeman at the beginning of the end of the world and is driven to revenge when a murderous gang lead by Toecutter (Hugh Keays-Byrne) kill his wife (Joanne Samuel) and sprog. The first 10 minutes of this movie is probably the best section in the whole series. Basically the movie that reinvented the action genre which happened once again with the 1981 sequel.
There's only some brief nudity from an unknown woman as she and a bloke run away after they are shot at while having sex. The bloke is well known saxophonist Wilbur Wilde. I also made other videos from the movie.
You can find a synopsis with collages and HD videos from Mad Max here. A preview is below.

Middle Age Spread (NZ)
Drama about an out-of-shape vice principal (Grant Tilly) who is unhappy in his own marriage to his nagging wife so he begins to take an interest in a fellow teacher (Donna Akersten) who is in an open marriage and seems very much up for it and he's encouraged to have an affair by his randy professor friend (Australian actor Peter Sumner). They eventually get together but that causes a whole new set of problems for the vice principal. Mildly funny movie about a man having a mid-life crisis where Grant Tilly plays another character with a nagging wife (see also Skin Deep). Peter Sumner basically steals the movie as an obnoxious lefty professor who's very much a fraud.
A fair bit of nudity from Donna Akersten in a couple of scenes, far better than her scene in Sleeping Dogs. Wiki Oman also shows her breasts and bottom briefly as she gets dressed.
You can find a synopsis with collages and HD videos from Middle Age Spread here. A preview is below.

Money Movers
Hectic and ultra-violent armoured car heist thriller that is far better than it has any right to be possibly helped by the direction of Bruce Beresford. Basically after a heist of one of their vans ends in murder, a company is sent a note that they are about to be hit again. The higher-ups try to work out who it is and all indicators point to 'trendy' newcomer Leo (Tony Bonner) but it is actually brothers Eric (Terrence Donovan) and Brian (Bryan Brown) who have put together an ingenious plan involving a fake van. But this secret plan becomes the worst kept secret and everyone wants their skim.
Some brief nudity from Candy Raymond and Kathy Dior.

The Odd Angry Shot
A 'comedy' about Australian soldiers during the Vietnam War who are trying to survive the danger and the boredom. Feels a bit like M*A*S*H and has quite a few laughs throughout particularly at the expense of John Hargreaves character who seems to cop everything.
Some brief nudity from Sharon Higgins and we see Sarah Lee's nipples in the holes in her bra. She has far better nudity in a fairly full-on sauna scene in Felicity.
You can find a synopsis with videos from The Odd Angry Shot here. A preview is below.

Palm Beach
Experimental drama that follows a bunch people who become connected when a man charged with a drug crime looks for a patsy to get less time for his crime. Meanwhile a woman has gone missing and a private detective (John Flaus) goes looking for her. Also a desperate young man (Bryan Brown) resorts to robbing a bank which goes wrong when he shoots dead a cop (in a fairly well shot scene). Meanders along for most of it's running time without much interest and feels incredibly experimental but there are a few moments of interest.
Julie McGregor shows brief full frontal nudity and her bottom while she joins Bryan Brown in the shower.

The Plumber
Peter Weir-directed telemovie about a couple who move into a new apartment that has a significant problem with the plumbing so they call in an over-attentive plumber (Ivar Kants) who takes an eternity to fix it much to the chagrin of Jill (Judy Morris) who is creeped out by him. Except everyone including her husband thinks he's a nice guy. Incredibly tense thriller with two great performances by Morris and Kants. Possibly Weir's most underrated movie.
A couple of scenes where Judy Morris shows her breasts from the side.

Snapshot
aka The Day After Halloween, One More Minute
Wacky stalker thriller about a young woman (Sigrid Thornton) who has her first modelling job where she poses nude for a magazine ad and it sets off every creep in the area who all want a piece of her. So who's after her: the man in the ice-cream truck, numerous hobbyists, friends, her mother or possibly all of the above. Ridiculous movie with a strange obsession with Sigrid and almost as many titles as villains.
A great nude modelling scene from Sigrid Thornton plus some side-boob action and also a see-through bra scene.

Sons for the Return Home (NZ)
Romantic drama about a Samoan man Sione (Uelese Petaia) who falls for a white woman Sarah (Fiona Lindsay) which causes a lot of consternation in their lives particularly from his mother. Things then become complicated when Sarah falls pregnant. Fairly decent movie.
Full frontal and rear nudity from Fiona as she swims in a river.

Thirst
Vampire movie where the descendant of Elizabeth Bathory (Chantal Contouri) has vivid dreams that make her believe that she is a vampire. A weird group of psychiatrists take her in but she's discovers that they are actually vampires who are harvesting human blood. Unusual but interesting take on the done-to-death vampire genre.
Chantal Contouri shows her left breast during a shower scene.

Tim
Romantic drama about a developmentally disabled man Tim (Mel Gibson) who does odd jobs around the town and then he meets and falls for a much older American woman Mary (Piper Laurie) who reciprocates his interest. This sets off the people around town who thinks she is taking advantage of him but both will not be denied. Based on the book by popular author Colleen McCullough this is an OK romance movie.
No nudity in the movie but there's some sexy stuff from Piper in the below video.
Piper Laurie in Tim
202184kb 3min 59sec 1920x1040 (one piece bathing suit, plenty of cleavage in see-through nightie, 'nude' under covers, extremely lengthy)
There is a few movies that had nothing to cap including the excellent Judy Davis led drama My Brilliant Career, another Hexagon movie The Last of the Knucklemen about tough-as-nails miners in the middle of nowhere, the kidnap drama Cathy's Child, the terribly misjudged comedy The Journalist while The Little Convict is an animated movie. I wasn't able to get a copy of the movie Apostasy.
So with the 70s done we see that a lot of the same names crop up doing nude scenes, so I've decided to do a quick scoreboard of how many movies/telemovies actresses have been nude in.
5 Jacki Weaver
4 Abigail, Kris McQuade
3
Briony Behets, Elke Neidhart, Nell Campbell, Belinda Giblin, Rebecca Gilling, Victoria Anoux, Judy Morris, Candy Raymond
This doesn't include TV shows and short films as Victoria Anoux would have 2 more. Also Nell Campbell has nudity in 70s international movies Lisztomania and Jubilee plus some nip slips in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Bring on the 1980s. This could take a while...

70s Australian Docos part 1
Throughout the 1970s there were some sex-related documentaries/docu-dramas that were made in Australia that had a close look at sexuality in Australia. These movies all played in cinemas which seems very odd now but back in the 1970s there wasn't really any other place to show them as they were often too risqué for television. Plus there was a growing interesting in sex and these movies were generally entertaining. I've already looked at the lengthy 1970 documentary The Naked Bunyip, a heavily censored look at sexuality in Australia with the censorship shown with an animation over the scenes that the filmmakers were told to cover up. Now I'm going to take a look at a couple of fairly graphic documentaries from the less censorious mid-1970s.
Australia After Dark (1975)
Infamous filmmaker John D. Lamond's debut is this 1975 documentary highlighting what goes on behind closed doors plus a strange mixture of things that seem very unrelated like segments on the plight of Aboriginal people and a camel race. No idea what Lamond was going for here apart from showing a whole lot of naked people but at best it's an incoherent mess that needs way more focus. For the most part it's anonymous people being shown naked with a number looking very staged (the witchcraft one doesn't even bother hiding how staged it is). But there are interstitials showing a naked actress who isn't named in the credits but the main one is Lamond regular Marilyn Rodgers (see the entry for Lamond's movie Felicity in the 1978 update). There's also a segment shot by underwater photographer/sea explorer Ben Cropp who films a woman named Gina Allen swimming under water.

The Love Epidemic (1974)
Before The Man from Hong Kong, Brian Trenchard-Smith (BTS) made a bunch of docu-dramas that looked at various subjects. The Love Epidemic is a 1974 movie BTS made for Hexagon (the Alvin Purple movies) that looks at gonorrhea (VD) and how it was the prevailing sexually-transmitted disease of the day. There's dry, serious talk and graphic images of VD coupled with wacky comedy about getting VD particularly some poor bugger who needs to tells his wife. There's also a segment where BTS follows stuntman Grant Page on a trip to Asia where he samples some delights and then comes back and takes a test for VD. You even get the pleasure of seeing Page's penis for some reason. Man, Trenchard-Smith can't make a movie without him. Page is even in a sex doco... Bizarrely this played in cinemas and did surprisingly well but you have to wonder who would go for a lovely night out to the movies to see rancid looking dicks.
There's a little bit of nudity in the movie from anonymous women plus a couple of skits featuring Ros Spiers who would have a prominent role in The Man from Hong Kong. Sadly the version I found is heavily interlaced so the fast motion scenes like the stripping scenes are basically unwatchable. I'll look for a better copy but I can't guarantee much.
